Wolf 359No offense, Gracia, but I really don’t think this is a good idea. A lot of the lesser known CBers are going to be left out. But hey, that’s just my opinion.
-
FleetParticipantI don't know, I think it'd be nice for CBers to get a spotlight like this and feel special. And, you know, I'm competitive.

Wolf 359I see your point, I just think that a lot of people will be left out of that spotlight. Again, that’s just my opinion. I have no intentions to offend.
-
LeafpoolParticipantCompetition hurts a lot of people too, especially when it's people choosing some people and not others to be special.

Yes. Rogue will probably win this week. But like I said, we can go every week until every CBer has been covered. Keep in mind that this is the first week, and just because someone is likely to win, that doesn't mean that you can't win next week. 🙂

DarkkingParticipantWho knows?
A dimension.I think that Soren should be nominated, she's always there and is always supportive. She sees the best in everyone and tries to include everyone, but I think the best CBers of the week should go to… The Admins! They make it all possible though they are not CBers or CBettes themselves.
(Also @Soren, yeah I tend to try to be everywhere at once so my Chromebook screen tends to look a lot like a messy file folder)

still hereHi everybody, I just wanted to pop in and give my two cents.
I have been here for a long time (six years, almost seven), and even though recently I haven't been posting anything, I have seen so many feelings hurt over the amount of time I've been here. I can already tell you how this is going to go: It might work until y'all run out of"popular" Cbers. You know, the ones who have time to post and really put their heart out. Then it's going to die off, because nobody remembers the people who are there, but don't post that often, like me. I am not offended by all means, I know that because I have been basically absent for a year then everybody will forget. But those younger Cbers just want to fit in and might be too shy to say anything, tthen feel left out. (Also, those popular Cbers get their stuff seen all of the time, cuz they post so regularly. I don't see the point in just reposting this super popular story or artwork if everyone has mostly seen it already.)
I'm just trying to say, that even if you think it will be fair, with choosing a new person each week, it will end up hurting someone, because it is impossible to get all of the tens of people who are here. Trust me, I know, this kind of thing has already happened.
Thanks for listening. I don't want to hurt anybody, I just want everybody to feel loved. 🙂

@Anonymous, I put the giant list up there to remind everyone about all of the other CBers who are just as awesome, so I'm really trying to encourage people to remember everybody on here. I don't want this to become a problem, but I understand your point.
@Alizarine, oh no! I could've sworn I had you up there… sorry!
@Moonlight, I was a bit confuzzled, because there was an old Moonlight that switched to the name Hero, and another named Moonlightelf, so I didn't know if you were one of them or a different person altogether. My apologies!
@Darkking, thank ya! (Dude, If my anything looked like a messy filer drawer, I think I would explode. XP)

MoonlightParticipantYea I am a totally different person so yea!

St.OwlParticipantBetween The LinesI'm going to join the others voicing their doubts about this. I think recognizing CBers for their contributions to the CB is a nice idea, which is why we have things like compliment threads! But these sorts of threads can end up hurting a lot of people – I know from experience. Yes, if this thread survives long enough, we'll move past the more "popular" CBers, but, as Anonymous said, people are going to start struggling to remember the less popular CBers. People will be offended. They'll be offended that they weren't the first picked – it's like picking teams in gym. Maybe you know you aren't that athletic, but it still hurts when you're one of the last ones not on a team. Maybe you actually play the sport they're picking you for and you're really good at it, but they ignore you anyway because they want to pick the popular kids first. That hurts too. We've had threads like this before, and it kind of went down in flames. Those that don't post about being offended (and I see we've already had one poster) will certainly be feeling it privately, to some degree. Yes, pointing out nice things CBers do is a great thing. But I'd rather we kept it to compliment threads instead of what will rapidly become a popularity contest.

LeafpoolParticipantI agree with you and Anonymous. Well said.

I mean, I'm competitive, and I love the idea of CBers getting special attention. I think it's going to make people feel happy, and like Gracia said, everyone will get the spotlight. I understand why people wouldn't like it, but I think it's a great idea.
-
LeafpoolParticipantYes, it will make some people feel happy, but those people are getting picked to be happy, basically, instead of others. And even if some people win, by the time a couple weeks have gone by, maybe people don't know you that well and so once lots of more popular CBers have been nominated and have gotten to be happy, maybe you'll just be at the end of the line and even though people nominate you, it's just because "Oh…I can't think of anyone else to nominate except you…I would nominate someone I know better if there was anyone left…but I guess you haven't had a turn to be nominated yet, and there's no one else, so I'll nominate you anyway." If a lot of people are having turns to be in the spotlight, there are also a lot of people getting shoved into the backstage.
It's not making a lot of people feel happy. That's just the truth, I'm sorry.

Anywhen But NowI think the amount of controversy already developing around this thread is a bit of a, er, portent, don't you?
