Leafpool~
Rain streaked the windows of the old abandoned cottage. In the middle of nowhere, this cottage had stood sort of tall, silently withstanding the test of time. A cat sat at the windowsill, claws resting lightly on the peeling white paint. Her tail swished back and forth lightly. The cat's purr made her whiskers vibrate, quickly tickling the windowpane. The rain slowed, then reduced to a sprinkle. The cat jumped onto the floor. Regally nudging the door open, she greeted the clouds above with a long stretch and more purring. The wind picked up, rustling the leaves in the trees that gave shade to the creatures of two, four, and many legs below. Some dead leaves fell into the pools that communed on the ground, and some fell onto the cat's silken fur. She didn't care enough to shake them off. Nonchalantly, she glaced into the crystalline face of a nearby pool. Orange leaves covered all but a small patch of the water, the perfect size of the cat's face. The cat lowered herself to fit her face into the patch of mirror made by the tranquility of the water. The leaves seemed to flow from around her ears and neck. The cat she saw – no, not a cat. She saw a lion in the pool. The lion within.
