Captain PhillipaParticipantThe Cosmic PioneerThe last day for Character sheets/forms is tomorrow, August 19! No character sheets will be accepted after tomorrow.
-
QueenofWolvesParticipantOk I realized that it's a little too complicated to have my CBer name be one thing but my name on the form be another, so scratch that. Everyone can just call me Queen (short for QueenofWolves).

Captain PhillipaParticipantPart 1!
The Cosmic PioneerPart one.
The Cosmic Pioneer was huge. Jubillee, Luna, Darkling, Barnswallow, Raining Rainbows, aqua, Queen, Heroes, Strawberri, IvoryPint, Quill, Luminescence, Emekitty, Kitten, Summer, and Agent Winter gaped up at it, taking in the gigantic hull with Cosmic Pioneer written in gold letters, the rows and rows and rows of windows, the balconies, the huge solid strip of glass, and finally the very top, adorned with three towers and a tangle of waterslides.
Heroes whistled under her breath. "That is definately the largest cruise ship ever."
Emekitty swallowed. Jubillee whistled, impressed.
"Are we really going on that?" Kitten asked.
Before anyone could answer, a door opened onto one of the balconies, and a figure stepped out onto it. The figure leaned over a control panel and pressed a few buttons, and a gangplank extended over the water towards the dock. When it had settled, the figure walked quickly down the gangplank with the agility of long practice. When the figure got closer, the little group on the dock saw that she was a tall, slim young woman. She wore a blue coat with gold trimmings, a pair of tall black boots, and a tri-pointed sailor's hat. Her bright red hair was pulled back into a tight bun. When she got to the end of the gangplank, the figure stepped down onto the dock and bowed.
"Good day to you all! I am Captain Phillipa of the Cosmic Pioneer." She had a crisp British accent. "I hope your trip here was enjoyable." It wasn't a question, but Luna nodded. "Good." The captain swept her gaze over all of them, then nodded. "I see that you are all here. Please come aboard at once. I am sorry to say that you shall have to manage your own luggage, as I do not have a crew member at hand to assist you." She turned on her heel and led the way up the gangplank. The Chatterboxers followed right behind her, talking and laughing.
All except for one.
This one person stayed at the back of the group, and neither talked nor laughed nor smiled. This person had just had a marvelous idea, inspired by the note at the end of the invitation. This person was tired of being just one of the crowd. This person waned to be famous, and she thought she knew just how to go about it. Now this person did smile, for she had decided on a plan. After this cruise, Chatterboxers everywhere would know and fear her name! Then the person put on a carefully neutral expression. It was best, for now at least, to blend into the crowd.
Everyone made it up the gangplank without incident, although Strawberri came close to losing a suitcase to the harbor, and only a timely intervention from Barnswallow saved it. Captain Phillipa held the door from the balcony, and the Chatterboxers streamed past her into a room that seemed a mix of waiting area and lounge. Comfy chairs lined the walls and sat in randomely placed clumps along with beanbags. The Chatterboxers quickly took their seats, all except for aqua and Agent Winter, who got into a fight over the purple and green striped beanbag chair. After they had resolved their quarrel, the captain cleared her throat.
"Before we start, I am obliged to give you some safety information. First off, although it is impossible to get lost aboard the Cosmic Pioneer, for your own safety, do not wander into unfamiliar areas. If you go on the waterslides, be sure to take a penguin for supervision. Use common sense and caution at all times. You may not disembark the ship without permission for any time, and never eat more than one slice of chocolate mousse cake. Is that understood?"
The Chatterboxers nodded. "Take a penguin?" Quill muttered. Queen frowned. "Chocolate mousse?" she asked. Captain Phillipa didn't seem to notice the outbursts.
"Very well then." She said. "I'll radio the pilot." She walked across the room to a small intercom outlet and pressed a button. "Eric, we are ready to disembark."
"All right, captain, one moment." The voice from the intercom was a bit distorted by static.
"Feel free to watch from the windows." Captain Phillipa told the Chatterboxers.
The Chatterboxers crowded to the windows and watched as the gangplank retracted and the ropes binding the ship to the dock untied themselves as if by magic. Then, the motor of the Cosmic Pioneer turned on, and the ship moved forward with surprising speed. After half an hour, there was no land to be seen anywhere. The Chatterboxers sighed happily, gazing at the blank horizon. IvoryPint pressed her face against the glass, staring down at the bright waves. Captain Phillipa coughed to get their attention.
"Now, it's time to go to your bunk room. I'll just–"
She was interruped by Raining Rainbows screaming.
Captain Phillipa ignored the outburst. "I should have mentioned in my rules that you are not allowed to interrupt–"
Raining Rainbows screamed again, and this time Luminescence and Summer joined her.
"What on earth just happ–" Captain Phillipa asked.
"Captain!" Darkling shouted. "aqua!"
aqua lay on the floor, a dazed expression on her face. While the rest of the Chatterboxers were watching the land disappear, she had been quietly smothered with the green and purple beanbag chair.
The person had now become The Murderer.
~~~
RIP aqua. We'll miss you!
Death toll: 1. aqua, smothered by a beanbag chair.
@QueenOfWolves: Thank you for changing the name, it's much less confusing now!
@Agent Winter: Welcome aboard! Since no one else has superpowers, I'm going to say no superpowers on this Ski Lodge.
@aqua: sorry to lose you so soon! I hope you'll keep reading to see if you are avenged. (We can hope it will be.)Describe your personality in three or four words.
DarklingParticipantThe Upside-DownEeeeee! That was great! You're a really good writer.
My personality in four words is: A grumpy, loyal, indecisive bookworm. Does 'A' count as a word?
-
SummerParticipanttau
Nowhere at allHrm. Well, at first my logic was, "if aqua was smothered by a beanbag chair then the murderer probably doesn't have any other weapons with which to kill her" but then I looked at the forms and everyone brought weapons. So. I have no idea.
Great writing, though!
Nowhere at allFour words: creative, nerdy, cheerful, cautious.
KittenParticipantDaydreamingOoh, this is excellent already!
My personality: Somewhat sensitive leader & dreamer.
I wonder if Agent Winter fighting with aqua over the beanbag means anything, or if it was just there to explain the presence of the beanbag. It does seem a bit obvious, but I think it puts a slight bit of suspicion on AW. There's also a slight bit of non-suspicion on IvoryPint, being the one person who's mentioned as watching the land disappear, but of course it's not enough to completely remove her from suspicion.
Captain PhillipaParticipantPart 2!
The Cosmic PioneerPart two.
For a second there was silence, then Kitten screamed, and immediately the room was thrown into chaos as Darkling and Quill shouted, Heroes sat down and put her head between her knees, Em shrieked, Summer felt aqua's pulse over and over again.
Captain Phillipa rolled her eyes. "Control yourselves." She said, and the room grew quiet. "I know how this looks. Seeing dead bodies is always disturbing, but it's all right. Accidents always happen on Chatterbox vacations, as some of you know very well." Agent Winter nodded. She knew all too well. "Now, it's impossible to turn back at this point," Captain Phillipa continued, "So let us try not to become too hysterical. The calmer we stay, the less danger we will be in. As I was saying, let us go to the bunkroom, and tomorrow we can give aqua a proper sea funeral. Till then, stay in groups of two or three at all times. All right?"
The Chatterboxers muttered their assent.
"Good. Now, you'll all be sleeping in the Blue Bunkroom. You can find your way there without my help. No one ever gets lost on the Cosmic Pioneer."
The Chatterboxers dispersed, giving each other nervous glances as they hurried out the door. Surprisingly, Captain Phillipa was correct about not getting lost. After a few turns, the Chatterboxers found themselves standing in front of a round blue door with a doorknob in the exact middle and the words 'Bunkroom Blue' written over the top. Inside, sixteen blue hammocks hung from the walls. The Chatterboxers chose their hammocks quickly. They unpacked very quietly, only making the barest amount of conversation in whispers. Everyone was still shaken up by aqua's death.
Luminescence was the only one who spoke. "Why is it called a Bunkroom when there aren't any bunks?" She asked. She was doing her best to lighten the mood. The other Chatterboxers glanced over at her and laughed nervously.
After an hour, Captain Phillipa's voice came out of the intercom.
"Please join me in the informal dining room for lunch. On the menu today is lasagna with garlic bread. Lunch begins in ten minutes exactly."
On the way to the dining room, The Murderer saw many chances in which to operate, but decided not to. Better to wait until everyone was less high strung.
The Chatterboxers took their seats in the informal dining room. They started their meal in silence, but after ten or fifteen minutes everyone began to warm up, and soon the whole of the room was talking and laughing. Although no one was quite at their ease, the feeling of total helplessness had ceased, and the table with Jubilee, Raining Rainbows, Heroes, Strawberri, and IvoryPint even felt comfortable enough to sing a campfire song about a moose who drank juice. However, they left out the last verse in which the moose is killed. No one needed that kind of reminder.
After lunch, Captain Phillipa walked in through a side door and addressed the Chatterboxers.
"Did you enjoy your meal?"
"It was delicious!" "Wonderful." "Yummy!" They chorused.
The captain smiled. "Good. Now, for your afternoon activity you will be spending time on The Best Waterslides Ever, and for those of you who don't like waterslides there is a wave pool and a hot tub." Amid cheers from the Chatterboxers, Captain Phillipa walked over to the intercom. "Mr. Bartleby, please meet the Chatterboxers at the waterslides. Bring Alligator."
"Alligator? Mr. Bartleby?" Queen asked.
"Allie, my albatross. You met her when she delivered my message, and Mr. Bartleby is a penguin. They will be your supervision."
Barnswallow laughed. "A pengin and an albatross are our only supervision?"
"They are intelligent and telepathic. Now, go change into swimsuits. There's a changing room just down the corridor from the Blue Bunkroom. After that, you may go up to the Waterzone."
The Chatterboxers hurried back to change, and then raced up the stairs (seven whole flights), to the waterslides, wave pool, and hot tub. Once again, although the ship was a warren of tunnels and rooms, somehow they were able to find their way around with perfect ease. On the fifth staircase, The Murderer and Luna hung back, but no one else noticed.
Luna was tired from all of the stairs and was hanging back to take a rest. She leaned back on the railing, and The Murderer glanced around to ensure that no one else was present.
Luna smiled. "Hello. Have we met yet?"
The Murderer also forced a smile. "No, I don't think so."
After a moment of silence, Luna sighed. "I almost wish I hadn't come on this vacation. Poor aqua. Imagine, death by a beanbag chair."
"Clever, wasn't it?" The Murderer asked.
"What do you mean?" Luna asked incredulously. Then her face paled. "Do you mean–did you–were you the one who–"
"Yes, I killed aqua." The Murderer said.
Luna pulled out her lightsaber and turned it on. The green light cast flickering shadows over both of their faces.
The Murderer smiled. It came out more like a grimace. "Don't threaten me with that."
Luna slashed at The Murderer, who dodged with almost inhuman speed. The lightsaber cut into the stairs, sending sparks flying everywhere. Luna swung again and again but always The Murderer was too quick for her.
After a few moments, it was all over. A body hit the ground at the bottom of the stairs.
~~~
RIP Luna, taken too soon.
Death toll: 2. aqua, smothered by a beanbag chair. Luna, whose death is currently undiscovered.
@Raining Rainbows: I think I remember seeing that you changed your name to Rainbow Riot. Would you like me to call you that in future posts?
@Luna: Sencere apologies about your demise! I hope that severe revenge will be taken upon the culprit. (We can only hope.)Next post up by Friday, if not before!
Would you rather: Swim with dolfins, surf, or waterski?

Existential PondermentHoly… wow! I'm dead! And that quickly!
Do dead people have to answer the questions at the end of your posts? (Wow, reading that out of context would be entertaining.)
Alrighty, time for the sleuthing… *rubs hands together*
~Captain Phillipa was unsettilingly unphased by someone's DEATH. She looks suspicious to me… but we know the murderer is a CBer.
~Right off the bat, we've been given a little insight to the murderer's motivation… they want fame, and power.
~Captain Phillipa mentioned that we know all about the "accidents" in our ski lodges. Perhaps some Mystery awareness?
~I asked the murderer, "Do I know you?", which leads me to believe they might be a newer CBer. This makes me slightly more suspicious of Queen and IvoryPint- though we did get the hint that Ivory Pint was looking out the window at Aqua's death, possibly ruling her out.
-
Captain PhillipaParticipantThe Cosmic PioneerYeah…sorry about the death. As I mentioned, accidents tend to happen on Chatterbox vacations.
Dead people do not necessarily have to answer the questions at the end of my posts, since their purpose is to see what activities the Chatterboxers favor and learn more about them so that I can portray them more accurately in my writing. With that said, you are more than welcome to answer the questions if you wish to.

-
Rainbow RiotParticipantidc, anything goes, I'm not really active XD. I'd rather . . . surf 😀
-
KittenParticipantDaydreamingOoh, I screamed! I've never actually screamed IRL, aside from one incident in musical rehearsal when we all screamed at once to see who could do it well (I couldn't), but for some reason I love the sound of the word "screamed."
Anyway.
I'm slightly suspicious of Agent Winter again, due to the line that says she "knew all too well" about the accidents that occur on CB vacations, but that isn't strong evidence that she's the murderer. I do think there's something up with her, though, unless everyone knew about the deaths/accidents, and she was just the only one who was mentioned specifically.
Luna-Starr makes a good point about the murderer possibly being someone newer– although, of course, this all depends on the set-up for this particular ski lodge, and whether we're all treated as strangers going into it, though the aforementioned line about accidents always happening on Chatterbox vacations seems to suggest that's unlikely. The line does, however, rule out anyone Luna has been mentioned as talking to previously… *checks to see if Luna's talked to anyone before* *finds that she hasn't* Darn.
It's possible that the people who reacted most strongly to aqua's death are less likely to be the murderer, but then again they could always be a good actor, so that evidence isn't particularly strong.
As for your question, I'd rather swim with dolphins!
-
HeroesOfOlympusParticipanteternal
Fancy KiwiOoh, excellent!
I would rather swim with dolphins. <3

Poor Luna. And poor Aqua.

Nowhere at allI love this! The nonchalant tone with which the captain said, "They are intelligent and telepathic…" that's just great.
Anyway, dolphins dolphins dolphins! Surfing and waterskiing sound dangerous.

-
BarnswallowParticipantHmm, I don't think that I would be very good at surfing but if I could figure it out, that's what I would want to do.
