I agree. I respect the choises the editors made, but they changed all of the logos, and I personally liked the old ones better. 🙂

Who knows?It..it just doesn't look natural. And crickets are part of nature. I liked the old one better.

LupineParticipantPlatform 9 and 3/4Yeah, I think they changed the font on all of the magazines to be the same, which I feel like makes them all look…the same? I mean I know they're all part of the same business, but…

CamelotThey changed it?!? *looks it up* *frowns* Aw yeah, they did. 🙁
I agree with all of you, I respect the decisions of the editors and stuff, but I really liked the old logo. It did feel more timeless and more… well, brought back more memories.

PeregrineParticipantI really liked the old logo better. I feel it matched the Cricket magazines much better than the new one. The new logo rersembles the Highlight magazine logo. While Highlight is a fine magazine I think all the Cricket magazines are many times better. If Cricket is so much better, I don't think the logo should look similar to the Highlight logo.
The old logo blended well with the cover art, and while the new logo looked okay with the recent cover art I think that it would never match most of the previous cover art. Cricket magazines are a lot about good quality art. The new logo seems to take over the art and dominate it. Instead of complimenting and bringing out the art.
The old logo was whimsical, timeless, beautiful, etc. The old logo was appealing to all ages. It captured what the Cricket magazines are really about. Something the new logo doesn't do.
I don't want to sound rude or disrespectful. If I did come across that way I'm really sorry, I definitely didn't mean it that way. But I love the old logo so much more. I would love to see the old logo back on the magazine again.
Just because I'm curious, why was the logo changed? Was there something wrong with it?

Oh no! I briefly saw the new one on the homepage but I was hoping it was wrong. I definitely agree with what everyone else has said. The old one is so… Cricket. The new one reminds me more of Spider or Ladybug. One of my favorite things about Cricket (and the other mags) is the timeless, intricately beautiful aesthetic. When I look at it I want to think "great reading inside", not "little kids' magazine". Yes, I realize I'm 15, but that's exactly the point! We still love it even as we grow older.
I respect the decisions of the Editors, but I would certainly be interested to know why? Was there something wrong with the old one, or did they just want to refresh it?

totalnightowlParticipantYeah, I think they changed all of them. My sister gets Spider and Faces, an the October issues have the new Cricket logo at the top and then a less stylized font with the name of the magazine below. I also prefer the old logo, and I don't like that it now says "Literary adventures for independent readers."

HereThe thing that gets me raging is the new subtitle. "Literary adventures for independent readers."
Seriously? We are not little kids. Most of us are tweens and teenagers. 8 year olds are "independent readers".

Could they maybe keep the old one on the Chatterbox? Like, if they were going to change it, just not? Please? We love our Realm of Imagination! 🙂
-
KittenParticipantDaydreaming, she/herI agree with everyone that the old logo was better, BUT! It's still there, just not on the cover! It's on the CB, and it's on the inside cover of the magazine, so it's not totally gone. Just in case that makes anyone feel any better. 🙂
-
AlexParticipantYea I liked the old one better
-
BarnswallowParticipantI agree that the old one is better. I don't think the new one is necessarily bad but the old one looks better. I think it matches things better and looks more sophisticated. The new logo looks more childish, and I think the old logo works better for marketing because it would interest more people. I think that with the new logo people might dismiss the magazine quickly thinking it's only for little kids.
