Maylin was lost. Again. Why did this have to happen every time they played capture the flag? She looked around at the trees, trying to see if she recognized any of them, but they all looked the same to her. Navigation was not her skill.
Suddenly she heard sounds coming from up head. They sounded like voices, but she couldn't decipher what they were saying. Maylin drew her sword and approached them cautiously. Through the bushes she could make out a tall figure, Shane. She was about to call out when she noticed he wasn't alone. Two hunters were before him, their weapons drawn.

CaliforniaJoey~
“Who do you think’s going to win?” asked Joey conversationally, jumping up and down excitedly. “Stop jumping. The Hunters,” said Nadia, who was paired with her, probably due to both of them being the only camper in their respective cabins.
“Really? I think we can do it this year,” said Joey firmly. “No. The Hunters have won, what, sixty something times? In a row?” Nadia said sarcastically. “Ugh, you’re right,” Joey groaned, and stopped jumping.
“Well, when are we supposed to attack?” Joey asked after a minute of silence. Nadia shrugged. “The Athena kids said to wait for some other campers to join us.”
“Okay… where are they?” Joey asked, adjusting her armor. “How am I supposed to know?” Nadia snapped. Joey raised her eyebrows and resisted the urge to come back with a clever retort.
After a few more minutes of awkward silence broken only by the grating noise of Joey sheathing and resheathing her daggers- and a “Will you stop doing that?” from Nadia- the pair noticed a group of orange shirted campers running toward Zeus’s fist with the Hunters’ flag.
“They didn’t wait for us!” Joey said, annoyed. “They aren’t real. Change of plans. You and I are doing this ourselves,” Nadia said, standing up. “Wait what,” Joey said.
“Ugh whatever! Just follow me!” Nadia yelled, and ran into the forest. After a moment of indecision, Joey followed.
Someone popped out of the bushes. Joey screamed. Nadia cursed in Ancient Greek. “Calm down I’m on your side!” the person said.

Anyone can be that person. Also @Lupine I hope I didn’t control Nadia too much.

SterlingParticipantLeigh~
Leigh brushed leaves out of his hair and grinned at Joey and Nadia. "What's up?" he asked, trying to sound as suave as one could when they'd just been hiding in a bush.
Joey raised her eyebrows. "Have you been hiding in that bush the entire time?"
"Maaaybe," he said sheepishly. "But our team just ran past, so it'll be over soon."
"Nope," Nadia responded, shaking her head. "That was an illusion." Leigh was awestruck. Maybe those huntress girls had more talents than being annoyingly skilled. "We were gonna go get the Hunters' flag ourselves before you showed up," she told him. "You wanna help us?"
He hesitated. Capture-the-flag wasn't really his thing. But if it meant getting revenge on that Hunter Lore, who foiled his lated scheme… His face broke into a grin as he imagined how he was gonna make her pay. "Yeah, I'll join you," he said.
They sneaked through the woods until they could see a glimmer of silver. "It was kinda stupid to make their flag so shiny," Joey commented, stifling a laugh. Three armed Hunters in sliver parkas surrounded the flag, which bore the symbolds of a bow and a leaping deer.
"Does anyone have long-range weapons?" Leigh asked.
Nadia held up a twisted wooden staff. "I can blast them with a sleep spell."
"Great. Hmm… Joey, if you grab one of those Hunter's jackets, do you think you could draw their symbol on it?"
Joey nodded. "Yup. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
He just smiled. Nadia muttered a few strange words and a lavender mist settled over the clearing where the flag was. The Hunters' expressions became groggy and they sank to the ground. Joey swiftly sprinted out from behind her hiding place and grabbed their flag and a jacket off one of the Hunters. She ran back to Leigh and Nadia, looking gleeful. Leigh pulled a Sharpie out of his back pocket and handed it to her, and she started drawing. Rule number five of being Leigh was always keep a Sharpie handy. He snapped a branch off of the nearest tree and hung the silver jacket on it. Joey returned the branch to where the flag had been moments earlier, and the team ran back through the woods, holding the Hunters' flag aloft.
Leigh was feeling pretty smug and clever. The flag swap had been his idea, after all. He considered himself a master trickster. Up ahead a group of campers and Hunters were fighting, but Nadia led them around the battle. They were reaching camper territory when a chilling howl broke through the night. "Keep going!" Nadia urged. The team kept running, but Leigh had the feeling that something was following them. And then the thing pounced, knocking him down. He could feel the thing's claws digging into him, and warm blood dripped down his back.
"Go!" he yelled to Joey and Nadia, his voice cracking. "Don't stop!"
They hestitated, but them he heard the girls' footsteps running away. He turned to face the creature that had attacked him. "What… are you?" he asked through gritted teeth.

Chinchilla/ParticipantTheArtfulMongooseAwesome, le's GOOOOOOOOOOO. Here's the sheet:
Name: Kai Whickerwater (Yes I know Kai is technically a guy's name but… come on. It's awesome.)
Age: 14
Gender/pronouns: She/her
Godly parent: Hestia, goddess of the hearth and home. Chief goddess among all mortals, given first and last rights, she who shares the honour of all sacrificies.
Personality: Usually gives the impression of someone who has it together, usually doesn't inside. Would definitely be the mom/mediator in any friendgroup. A very honest, upright person, though she could lie if she had to. She's used to being alone, and so sometimes gives the impression of being closed off to other people. If you don't ask she won't tell, sort of thing. That's more due to her assuming no one would want to know, but if she really trusts someone and/or believes they will listen, she'll open up easily. This is kinda reflected in how she fights – She's used to fighting alone and may look absorbed in her own battle, but she's looking out for the others on the field too. She can switch to supporting another person, but her fighting style doesn't adapt well to others trying to do the same to her. She's definitely the solid friend you'd vent to after a breakup XP. She's more of a kick-in-the-crotch-first, talk later fighter. She's a pretty good leader but is willing to step down if her being in charge is causing conflict. She's a wee bit high strung right now, so she'll probably be a bit harsher to others than normal. Being in a forest brings back bad memories…
Appearance: Medium height, olive skin and long black hair, usually tied up in a ponytail. She has a serious-looking face with a strong jaw. Usually wears a red bomber jacket (Used to be her dad's) over her Camp Halfblood T-shirt.
Skills/Abilities: Has an affinity with fire and heat. I wouldn't go so far as to say she can throw fireballs (…yet), but she can heat up her hands to a temperature that can burn most people (though that's very dependant on her amotional state and intent) and is more heat-proof than the average demigod. If she's concentrating she won't be burned by fire, (Supernatural fire excluded) but she'd probably get some nasty burns if she, like, walked into lava. She could theoretically blast out fire at close range but she doesn't have any control over that. She doesn't know how to fight with a sword yet, but she used a baseball bat when out fighting monsters and it's basically the same thing, right? Feel free to let others comment on how bad she is with a sword in the capture-the-flag game. A more subtle power is that she can get people to work together very well. (This ties into Hestia being the godess of community) Whether it's solving an argument, pumping people up to fight together, or just keeping a friend group together in the middle of a huge spat, she has a talent for helping people get along with each other. This is more of a subtle social thing, obviously she couldn't get two serious enemies to make up on the battlefield or anything. Used to attend self-defence lessons but barely remembers anything.
Years they've been attending Camp (none is allowed, if they're a newcomer): None! She only just arrived two or three days ago. She's still not totally sure what's going on and throwing her into a capture-the-flag game was probably not a good idea.
Backstory (optional): Lived in a small apartment in new york with a dozen other siblings (Not demigods, those siblings came after). Struck out from home as soon as she realised monsters where appearing around her. She was on the run for about seven months before eventually getting into the countryside. Had a run in with Laestrygonians at a diner. At first she though the staff were all just really tall, but…
Those guys will probably never forgive her for breaking their coffee machine. She'll never forgive them for what she saw in the fridge. Met a satyr that guided her to Camp Halfblood soon after. Still really freaked out by humanoid monsters.
Other: Really enjoys marzipan. Open to shipping, preferably girls.
Heh, that was pretty long, especially in the personality department… sorry about that!

LupineParticipantPlatform 9 and 3/4Heyy our charries are siblings! Hestia is my favorite goddess! In my opinion it's totally lame that the goddess of hearth and home gave up her seat for the god of wine. Like, which one is more important? xD Anyway. That's my short rant for the day.
-
Chinchilla/ParticipantTheArtfulMongooseI completely agree, that's probably one of my least favourite myths to be honest. It's weird how little information there is about Hestia, considering how important she must have been to people back then. I mean, part of every offering made to any god was set aside for her! She's quite literally the goddess of everyday, functioning family life. Since our charries are related, should Kai develope a sort of older-sister relationship with Oliver? I just love the idea of them running around in the woods together. Also since most monsters wouldn't target Hestia's kids let's just say that the Laestrygonians might have let her pass by had she not broken that coffee machine.

LupineParticipantPlatform 9 and 3/4Sounds good 🙂

IkeaDorian~~
There was something moving through the woods–Dorian could feel the vibrations of the ground through their feet, and they could see birds flying away. Something told them this was not the Hunters, but rather, something much larger and much more dangerous.
Nathan Lee stood next to Dorian, and it seemed Nathan had noticed it too, as his sword was drawn. Dorian drew their sword as well and the two began to move forwards, silently.
The vibrations in the ground stopped, and Dorian was able to make out the figure of the beast through the trees. It was massive, with large horns sticking out from its head that were covered in tooth-like nobs. Nathan mouthed the word 'Aeternae'.
Dorian vaguely remembered hearing about Aeternae once. They knew they were mentioned being found in India in original Greek mythology, though like everything else, it was bound to show up in America. Dorian wondered how it got in the forest, though. He figured something this large would have been spotted a long time ago.
The aeternae seemed to be searching for something, and Dorian could see it pause every so often. They assumed the creature was sniffing, or something like that.
The beast suddenly focused on Dorian, and let out a roar–though Dorian couldn't hear the roar, they could feel it.
Dorian didn't need Nathan to tell them to run.

QuillParticipantIon~
I run through the undergrowth, listening for any sign of the Hunters nearby. There had been some shouting earlier, but when I'd passed Kaya she told me it was an illusion.
Through a gap in the trees, I see the silver gleam of the Hunters' flag. Crouching behind a bush, I readjust my grip on my bow. I've been itching to see the Hunters beaten for years. Last time they visited Camp, I didn't get a chance to play. One of the Apollo healer kids are always on medical duty, and it had been my turn.
Reaching behind me, I pull out an arrow- nothing lethal, of course. This one would burst and release a fog, obscuring their vision. As I nock it to the string, however, a lavender mist settles over the clearing. The Hunters immediately pass out. I grin. There must be a Hecate kid somewhere nearby.
From my vantage point, I watch as someone runs into the clearing, steals a silver jacket and the flag, then returns the jacket to where the flag had been. Overall, it's a pretty devious move.
I stand and run in the direction of the flag thief, hoping to provide some backup as they head back to our side. I soon happen across a group of battling campers, who look like they're losing.
I draw my dagger and join the fray. After battling a few Hunters, I hear someone behind me and whirl around, deflecting a blade in midair. It's Lore, the lieutenant of Artemis. Her twin daggers flash back towards me, and I duck. One of them glances off my armor.
"Long time no see," I say casually, parrying another stroke.
"I know. It's been since, what, the last time we beat you?" Lore responds.
I'm about to reply with something witty, but there's a loud howl, then a yell. Everyone stops, looking around.
"It came from that way!" someone shouts, and I start running. Lore's right behind me, along with some other campers.
We burst into a clearing to find someone on the ground, bleeding, and a very large horned beast standing over him. Quickly, I fire an arrow at it, hoping to the gods it flies true. Sure enough, it hits the beast in the eye.
It roars and charges forward. I dodge out of the way and sprint towards the figure on the ground. I rack by brain for his name. Leigh.
"What… is… that thing?" he gasps.
"An Aeternae, I think," I say, pulling an ambrosia square from my pocket. "Eat this, then we'll get you to the infirmary."
There's another roar from the monster, and I turn to see how the fight is going.

HawthorneParticipantMaylin
~~
Maylin could hear the roar echoing through the forest. She shivered, not from the cold, but from the fear that rippled through her. She tried to bring to mind creatures that she knew of that could make such a sound, but her mind drew a blank. She wasn't very good with that sort of thing, anyways.
Maylin drew her sword and advanced towards the noise. Soon a large monster came patially into view, most of its body obscured by the foliage. It seemed to be staring at something – or someone – in front of it. She had little time to feel relieved that that someone wasn't her before the creature took off. Maylin clenched her sword and followed. Capture the flag could wait.

MoondropParticipantKaya~
Kaya fought off the being as she created a plan in her head. This was NOT a Hunter. Zeus' Foot was nearby…she needed the higher ground. She ran over to the rocks and climbed up. she could nearly see camp-she really hoped they were winning. She jumped high and lunged. Hitting the beast in it's neck, it ran. "What was that?" She asked herself. Running back torwards camp, she found complete chaos…and the beast was causing it. Someone screamed "Aternae!" So that's what it was. This was just another monster, she told herself. She took a deep breath, grabbed a sword, and ran into battle.

Chinchilla/ParticipantTheArtfulMongooseKai~
Kai had been having a bad day even before the Aternae destroyed half of Cabin 11.
While most of the other campers were running around in the forest playing capture the flag, Kai had been given stable duty. Apparently nearly decaptitating her blacksmithing instructor the day prior was cause to keep her away from sharp objects. In her defense, she hadn't expected him to tap her on the shoulder in the middle of forging weapons, and she was still a little twitchy after the diner escapade. Thankfully everyone at camp took near death experiences in stride, though he had commented he'd never been so passionately karate chopped with tongs before.
So she'd just got to her sleeping bag in the corner of cabin 11, utterly exhausted and coated with she-didn't-even-want-to-know, when the Aternae slammed through the wall with a deafening crash and came to a careening stop at her feet. It lay, stunned, half-buried in the resulting dust and debri of the wall. Total silence fell.
"… Did we kill it?" Someone said from outside of the cabin. Kai was vaguely aware of a huge croud of campers and hunters gathered outside. Mainly she was aware of the Aternae's huge head residing right where her sleeping bag used to be. The Aternae's bulging eyes swivelled up to meet hers.
Kai stared at it for a moment.
It stared back.
Very slowly and methodically, she leaned down, pulled her bag of extra clothing out from under the Aternae's head, picked out her dad's jacket, and put it on.
~~
Sorry it took so long for me to join in, I kept on finding the perfect place to nudge in my charrie and then leaving the computer for the whole day, somehow not realizing that things change in 24 hours XP. Also I know this didn't add much to the battle, but I was thinking the Aternae was accidentally driven into the cabin area? Probably through a very chaotic series of events that took place while Kai was still shoveling poop =P
