Ikea"Hello…?"
Fear flashes through me and I panic, dropping the needle onto the barely concious soldier's body. I turn to see the newcomer, and lightning strikes a nearby rooftop, and the streets glow for a moment.
The newcomer is illuminated for just a second, but I see they're a man–probably a human–close-ish to my age, maybe a little older. His hair is light-colored, and tied in a ponytail. I also note that his clothes are remarkably clean for being in a warzone–definitely not a soldier, then.
He gasps, and takes a step backwards. There were so many things that could have made him do that–the mud and blood all over me, my metal arm, or maybe my dark hair that clearly hadn't been brushed in the last several weeks.
"Who are you?" He asks. I don't know, I want to say. I don't remember, and I don't want to remember.
But instead, I say, "…Kit." It feels better than Kimiko–there's no history tied to the name Kit. Kit is a new person, a new identity. The dying soldier makes a noise and I can feel myself starting to panic again.
"Do you….need help?"
"Maybe. Yes. I don't know," I say, plainly. My real hand, the left one, is shaking uncontrollably, but my metal hand stays steady. I try to thread the needle, but prick myself and drop it again.
The newcomer–I realize I never asked for his name–bends down next to me. He winces when he sees the soldier's wound, which is almost completely sealed up, but still gross.
"I won't blame you if you vomit." My voice is quiet, and for a moment I regret saying it, but then the newcomer flashes a small smile.
I pick up the needle again. Something about having someone there is comforting and my hands are steadier. I manage to seal up the wound all the way. I notice the soldier's ears–they're pointed, so he must be an elf of some sort.
I turn to the newcomer. "Is there a…hospital, or something? Somewhere we could take him?"

Kit is Kimiko's new name. I'm going to make a new charrie sheet for them soon, but they use they/them pronouns now.

The rain soon stops completely, and eventually I see land ahead. It's only a small island, but Goldenfeather swoops higher, her feathers already sky blue. She keeps going over it – the island looks like it's only inhabited by sheep – and we see a couple more islands beyond it. Behind them, misty cliffs rise high above the waves. The Labyrinth Lands. Goldenfeather circles down and lands on the smallest of the islands. The sun is low on the horizon by now, the sky just beginning to turn orange.
~~~
(I'm assuming they'll want to rest before continuing and exploring the Labyrinth Lands.)
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantHola! Sorry I haven't posted for so long.
I sigh and bury myself into the sand. Ah. I miss the feeling of sand. I kill a sheep and bring it back, picking out some of the meat and shearing the wool before giving the rest to Silverwhisker. I start to scavenge for some berries.
-
MoonKittenParticipant~Silverwhisker
I dip my head, thanking Goldenfeather for the sheep, and eat some. My paws unconciously start kneading the soft sand. Goldenfeather is still scouting the area. Stretching out on the sun-warmed sand, I'm about to drop off to sleep when I see a dark shadow in the sky over the huge mesa where the Labyrinth is. And it's heading straight towards us.
~~~
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Or a dragon? I don't know, but we need something interesting to happen. (:
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantGoldenfeather-
I notice the dark shape immediatley.
"Stay here. Please. I'll be right back. Stay under cover. Do not show yourself. I'll be fine."
I honestly don't think I'll be fine, but I can't let Silverwhisker see I'm scared- no, suspicious- of the shadow. I mean, I flew through a storm. I'll be fine.
I take a deep breath and straighten up.
"I can come with you if you'd like-" Silverwhisker starts.
I normally don't interupt others, but this time I have to. "No. Stay here, stay undercover, stay safe. I'll be right back."
I arch my wings until they catch the sunlight, then they slowly fizzle into nothingness- i mean, they blend into the background. I dash into the sky- and lo and behold, there lies another dragon. I shift into my brighter colors. I barrel into the dragon and pin them to the sand below.
"Listen up, stranger. Who are you. And why are you here. You stalking u- me?" I can't let them know Silverwhisker is here. If I'm in danger, so is she. And it's better for me to be taken than her. I have a few trick- uh, escape strategies- up my sleeve- or fur.
(So, I don't know- what if Goldenfeather secretly has a crush on Silverwhisker? That could be fun.)
-
MoonKittenParticipant~Silverwhisker
She's gone before I can form a reply. I can't see her behind her camouflage, until the dark shape is knocked from the sky by my golden friend. They spiral towards the ground on the island we stopped at. I dash into a nearby blackberry bush and crouch low, watching as Goldenfeather pummels the stranger – another dragon, to my surprise, with questions.
~~~
Oooh, that would be interesting. And Silverwhisker could be completely clueless about it :). Or they could just be friends; I'm not very good at romance…
Anyway, if somebody else wants to join our little quest/journey here, feel free to jump in as this mystery dragon!
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantoh my kyngdom! I'm gonna do a little revival of Ghost- she was a good character that I treasured.
Ghost-
I grumble. Great. Then I look up.
"Goldenfeather?"
Goldenfeather looks surprised, and lets me up. "Ghost? How- what- when- where- why?"
"Um I escaped."
"I want you to meet my new traveling companion, Silverwhisker. We're visiting the Labyrinth Lands."
I shift back into a human, then follow Goldenfeather.
Goldenfeather-
"Silverwhisker! It's just my old traveling companion Ghost! You can come out!"
Silverwhisker slides out from a blackberry bush.
"Er, it's nice to meet you. Silverwhisker, right? I'm Ghost." Ghost says.
"Yes, I'm Silverwhisker. It's nice to meet you, Ghost." Silverwhisker replies.
I hiss. It seems like they're ignoring me, the way they're talking. Silverwhisker- I mean- they-why would they leave me like this?
I lash my tail angrily on the ground, and silently camoflauge against the trunk of a tree, then slink into the ocean. There'll be another storm coming. Best take shelter.
I give one last angry glare to Ghost, then disappear, into the clouds.
Ghost-
"Hey, where's Golden?" I say, after looking at the place Goldenfeather used to be. She seemingly disappeared.
(Drama! Goldenfeather is one of those assume-first, attack-later kind of animals. she jumps to conclusions easily. Ghost is a shapeshifter character.)
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantomg i forgot something in my last post!
Goldenfeather-
*this is before she left*
I scribble something hastily on a leaf.
"I'll miss you, Silver."
I leave it behind a bush, the one she hid in.
-
MoonKittenParticipant~Silverwhisker
The sun is low in the sky by the time I look up from my conversation with Ghost. I realise I haven't seen Goldenfeather in… I don't know when. "Have you seen Goldenfeather?" I ask.
The shapeshifter frowns. "Now that you mention it, no. That's weird."
I sniff around. The last trace I can find of the dragon is near the blackberry bush. Wait – there's a note. No no no… I whip around to face Ghost. "Can you shift into a bird or something?"
"What – oh." I show her the note. Her eyes widen, and she soars away.
"Wait, I – " I try to call, but she's already gone. My tail lashes. I can't even see her anymore.
~~~
Very nice! This will be interesting.
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantOh Claaws, I forgot all about this! I'm so terribly sorry!
Ghost-
Once I see the panic in Silverwhisker's eyes, then the note, I stumble onto the beach, mutter a few words to my magic lucky pendant, which glows blue, symbolizing peace, then green, symbolizing nature and the four leaf clovers, in turn symbolizing luck. I shift into a peregrine falcon, then push off the soft sand and soar into the sky, flapping around and frowning. I don't see a sign of Golden anywhere. Normally I can see her jewel when she goes- Oh. My. SHAPESHIFTERS. Did Goldenfeather really learn how to complete camo? Uhh this is gonna be hard.
I dive-bomb back where Silverwhisker is.
"Two things. One, can I call you Silver? Completely unrelated. But. Second thing. I think Goldenfeather managed to learn how to do complete camo- so now I can't spot her. It's no use wasting energy trying to chase after her- I say we have a good night's rest. Let me first try contacting her with our communications pendant.
I take a deep breath and pull out a wooden carved pendant, and whisper the name, "Goldenfeather" to it.
The rune begins to glow white.
(If you're curious, the rune is othala! It's like for family, since Ghost and Goldenfeather are technically half-cousins. I got it from Magnus Chase- okay, I will admit, I've been reading too much Norse Mythology.)
Goldenfeather-
The rune on my chest begins to glow white, and I quickly shut it off, with the words, "Leave a message for me at the end of the Labyrinth. If you must, I'll meet you there. Call me back when the sun changes into the moon. Busy."
Ghost-
"Leave a message for me at the end of the Labyrinth. If you must, I'll meet you there. Call me back when the sun changes into the moon. Busy." came a voice, after the rune had glowed black, signaling that I was 'alone'.
I sigh. "It was worth a try. I guess we have to get through the Labyrinth now."
Goldenfeather-
I touch the rune again. It's camoflauged. I knew that pretending to not be able to do complete camo was a good idea. Plus I got some other powers from the jewel that was given to me when I defeated a monster…
I touch the jewel, which in turn drops out an apple, which I toss into my mouth and digest wholly.
Did I do the right thing? What if Catastrophe comes and takes me? What if- Oh featherscales, I should turn back. I think.
I abruptly wheel back, but suddenly a net dunks over my head.
"Help!" I manage to scream out. "HELP!"
I remember my rune and activate it. It's almost running out.
"GHOST!" I yell. "NO TIME! I'M BEING CAPTURED- I WENT ABOUT 6 MILES AWAY FROM THE ISLAND! QUICK! PLEASE!"
The rune shuts off, and I feel sick, then fall, unconscious, to the bottom of the bag.
Ghost-
"GHOST! NO TIME! I'M BEING CAPTURED- I WENT ABOUT 6 MILES AWAY FROM THE ISLAND! QUICK! PLEASE!"
The rune glows black.
"Goldenfeather."
"SILVERWHISKER. GET ON MY BACK RIGHT NOW. We're going to pay these meanies a visit."
I probably have on my war face- intimidating, right?
(Okay, if any of this is like wayyyy too much or wayyy too controlling, just tell me! I'll edit it. Also, now Ghost has a new weakness- she will do anything to save her friends.)
-
MoonKittenParticipant~Silverwhisker
No. No no no no… Goldenfeather! What if we don't get there in time? What if we can't find her? I hope I can trust Ghost. What if… My thoughts are scattered as I leap onto Ghost's back. I crouch and hold on so she can go fast. My claws involuntarily flex into her back from my agitation. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" I apologise, pulling them out. "And you can call me Silver, that's fine." The shapeshifter nods wordlessly, squinting against the wind.
After what feels like hours, though it's probably only a couple of minutes, we spot a ship below us. Ghost slows down and circles above the clouds – too high for them to notice us, but I can see enough through the fog to see the glint of some familiar golden scales, lying on the deck.
"So what's our plan?" I ask Ghost. "Golden doesn't look like she'll be able to fly for a bit, so either we have to wait or take over the whole ship. Which would be fun, but hard."
~~~
No, that's fine! And please let me know me if I'm being too controlling, I feel like I tend to do it too much.
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantNo, you're definitely not being controlling! 🙂
Ghost-
Gods. gods, gods, gods. It had to be Goldenfeather. ARRRRGH. I hate the so-called 'fate'.
"Okay." I whisper stealthily to Silver. "Here's the plan. I'll do camo in the clouds. STAY ABOVE ME. AT ALL TIMES. LIKE DON'T EVEN SHOW A SPECK OF YOU. Or I could give you the runes…"
I fish out an 'othala' rune again.
"This will make you invisible, but you will hear your dead relatives/loved ones clamouring for you to join them…Goldenfeather may or may not be there, depending on her status. Do you think you're ready?"
OMG OMG OMG WATERFALL SAID OHORG oho rg? oho argh? oh well who cares.
-
MoonKittenParticipant~Silverwhisker
I stare at the rune. My family… I squeeze my eyes closed for a second, then reach out and take the rune. It's weird not being able to see myself, but the voices demand my attention more. I gasp as I pick out my brother's voice… my mother's… my sisters'… and Owlshine. My best friend. Gone. But not Goldenfeather. I can't decide if that's better or worse.
With an effort, I shut out the noise and look back at Ghost, who's looking at me – or through me – concernedly. "I know, it's hard. Using the othala gets easier with time," she tells me. "Are you ready?"
I take a deep breath. "Yeah. Let's go rescue a dragon."
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantGhost-
I'm worried. The othala rune has a deeper effect when near those you care about. The good news is that I did a little bit of magic- and Golden isn't completely past the line yet. I can tell she's about to tip over the edge.
"We don't have much time. Goldenfeather is already 3/4 of the way across- into the dead. We need to hurry- no, no, no- 5/6 now-"
I forget the plan and dive straight down. There is no time. I pull out the poison arrow and signal to Silver, then I carry Golden up, and Silver gets on my back. We fly to land, where I place Goldenfeather in a pile of flowers.
"She's too far gone. I'm sorry."
"Goldenfeather is dead. We ought to give her a proper ritual."
I silently pick some flowers, then spread them over her paws. Then I quickly build a makeshift raft and set her on it, then push her into the fog. I can't hold back the tears any longer.
—
OKAY IM SO SORRY I HAD TO DO THAT- What if Goldenfeather wakes up, but then her memory is gone? That could be fun….
-
@GoldenfeatherParticipantNo offense, but wouldn't that just be copying Sybill's charrie, Kit?
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantHuh. Good point. So she's actually dead- but I really want her to make a reappearance, possibly draining/taking away Ghost's hope, perhaps with the othala rune? Idk. but I think Ghost is a little powerful- draining Ghost's hope could drain her shapeshifting powers, so then yeah, that would be pretty nice. And ghost…I'm gonna make her have like a scar on her left foot so she can't walk very well, that would be a really great flaw ( I'm kidding, I know, it's horible.)
Thanks for the pointer!
MoonKittenParticipantOh! Should've put this in my last post, but…
What if Goldenfeather is captured by someone (Catastrophe?) and Silverwhisker and Ghost have to rescue her? Not that you have to, obviously. Just ideas…
-
MoonKittenParticipant~Silverwhisker
I squeeze my eyes shut. Ghost is turned away from me. I can't… I shake my head and run to the other side of the island, where I crouch down silently and remember Goldenfeather. Not another friend… Night falls. With an effort I get up and walk back to Ghost, who's still lost in grief. In the middle of the small island are a few young trees. Some of them have dropped branches, which I collect and lean against each other awkwardly to form a basic shelter. Something I have Goldenfeather to thank for. I lie down inside it and fall into a troubled sleep.
~~~
Nnooo Goldenfeather…
OK, but what if she's not actually dead? And when she wakes up she'd still remember, but her wings wouldn't work for some reason? At least for a while, by which time Ghost and Silver would be too far away to find again easily. Or maybe it's still too similar to Kit, idk.
For Ghost, what if she doesn't change size when she shapeshifts? Like she could be an elephant but still human-size. Maybe she could still become smaller. I don't know if that helps.
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantHmmm….that sounds like a good id-
*gets stricken with an idea of pure genius*
What if…Golden is still alive. I know cliche. But listen to this next part.
The people who captured her and almost killed her were Catastrophe's soldiers. They attacked her because they wanted her on their side.
Then, Golden wakes up and realizes Ghost and Silver 'abandoned' her, then hurt, she joins forces with Catastrophe! This could make for some real good drama…
And I think that would help! Just add a couple wounds and a limping leg and we're set to go! *gleefully cackles* ohhh the evilness..
Ghost-
I pace around the cave, still mourning the loss of my old friend. Finally, I remember something.
Our memories.
I take out a leaf-bound book, which is already dusty. I blow the dust off.
"Silver? I want to show you something."
Silverwhisker comes out of the shelter she made, and I push the book over to her.
"Our memories." I explain. "I had like a diary- but I painted instead of writing. This contains all the memories we've ever had…"
I trail off, remembering the time when I first met her, remembering the time in the Arctic when we almost froze to death but the only thing keeping us alive was eachother…
I trace a claw in the sand, in a flowery pattern. A silver tear slides down my cheeks.
Golden. She's gone. The dragon I knew so well was gone…
I stand up, and stretch. Then I decide to swear off my camoflauge powers…they remind me too much. It'll be too painful anyways.
Goldenfeather-
I wake up, to be on a floating raft. I realize that they've abandoned me. My friends- they must have thought I was too weak.
I think back to the man's offer.
"Join us. If you say no but change your mind, just contact us. We will never be too far."
I start flying in the direction of the boat, and when I reach it, I land and proclaim,
"You asked me to join forces with you. I said no for the sake of my friends. But they've thought I was a weak, pathetic loser. I have come to join forces with you. Hopefully you will be more welcoming than then."
The lead man grins.
"Well then, welcome."
~~~#~~~
ooOOoOoh PLOT TWIST!
nananananana PLOT TWIST!!
-
-
MoonKittenParticipantSorry this is so late! Oh, and yes that idea is genius. 🙂
~Silverwhisker
I flip through the pages silently, missing Goldenfeather already more than words could say. Finally I glance up to Ghost, who's looking over my shoulder quietly. "You've known her for a long time," I say. She nods. I look down, then say, "We need to move on. It's what she would have wanted. We should find the Labyrinth – or what's left of it."
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantGhost-
"Good idea…Gold would'a wanted us to move on…and it was painfully obvious she had a crush on you….we should really get going. Ghost isnt one ta hold grudges, but she does judge easily…but she always said t'at we need to focus on w'at's going on in life…the present…not the past…"
-
MoonKittenParticipant~Silverwhisker
"Wait. What? Wait. She – Oh. I… didn't know…" I trail off and stare at Ghost, who now looks like she's trying to hold back a laugh despite… I can't go there. I take a deep breath and try to put the new information in the back of my mind. "Um… we should probably get going."
Ghost smiles and invites me to climb on her back. Soon we're soaring across the water towards the towering cliffs that mark the beginning of the Labyrinth Lands.
~~~
lol
So what should they find there? Was it destroyed in the flood, or just maybe the tunnels were cleared out and hold ancient secrets and stuff?
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantI think they should find some ~ancient secrets~
Ghost~
I finally let out a snort of laughter I've been holding. "Uh, was it not obvious…enough?" I laugh some more. "I remember that time when Golden had a crush on me and I was oblivious…
Just then, we land amid a destroyed mass of walls.
"It was much cleaner when I first got- oh my GOBLINS IT'S STILL THERE!"
I screech excitedly and flap over to a chunk of wall, where me and Golden's names are carved.
-
MoonKittenParticipant~Silverwhisker
I tilt my head. "What are you looki – oh. Whoa. How did your names get there??"
Ghost grins. I purr, still a little confused, but it's good to see her smile again.
~~~
Not sure where you want to go with this, so I'll keep it short…
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantGhost-
"It's a long story.." I grin, remembering the details. "We traveled here before…we put this here to remember that we will always be together in each other's hearts..it was part of a blood oath, that we would be each other's new family…"
I trace my claws on the slightly reddened block of earth.
"C'mon, let's go…" I first fish out a leaf and make a little etching of the carving, and stick it in my pouch, then shift into a silvery-white-haired human and walk into the beginning of the labyrinth.
-
MoonKittenParticipant~Silverwhisker
I pause another moment after Ghost leaves, staring at the carving. Then I run after her.
The tunnels vary in size, color and shape every turn we take. After just a few turns my sense of direction has been turned around, upside-down, and backwards. I look up at Ghost. "Do you know where we are? Or where we're going? Because I don't."
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantGhost~
"Yup. Sure do. I memorized these paths and riddles a long time ago- appears they've been ransacked and destroyed. Gods, still remembering this…this was a long time ago…"
I start towards what I believe is the center of the chamber, stretching my ears to listen for the cavern's trademark ringing sounds. I hear silence.
My eyes widen.
"Oh gods, oh no, this is not, not, not good- what, how, but it- oh the tunnels must have been blocked up, not good, not good-"
I start hyperventilating, sitting there and breathing heavily.
"Gods, not good, not good, not good…"
-
MoonKittenParticipant~Silverwhisker
I rush to the shapeshifter's side and look into her eyes. "Ghost. Calm down. It's okay, we'll find a way out."
Eventually she takes a deep breath and nods. "Okay. So what do we do?"
I look around the cavern. It has rough stone walls and it's floor is only a little smoother. There's nothing to suggest any hints for where to go. Except – I pad to the other side from Ghost and stretch up on my back legs. There are black carvings there. It looks like they were filled in with another material. Ghost walks up behind me.
"I don't remember ever seeing those," she says. "They're not any of the riddles I know."
I can't tell what the marks are supposed to be. It looks like some scene – there are a couple of people, and a few animals, but I don't know what kind.
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantGhost~
Suddenly, they start to move.
It shows Goldenfeather joining the bad side.
I can only gape, my eyes filling with tears.
"T-the bl-blood o-oath…i-it di-didn-didn't m-me-mean any-anything t-to h-her…"
I break down into tears.
"S-she m-mu-must h-have t-tho-though t-that w-we a-aban-abandoned h-her…"
Suddenly, my head shoots up.
"I know where we are. 24th cavern, 55th to the right, then according to that we should be right back-"
I point to the right entrance.
"That's the way. I'm sure of it."
-
MoonKittenParticipant~Silverwhisker
No. I can only shake my head, murmuring the word over and over. It's like losing her all over again.
"That's the way. I'm sure of it."
I look up at Ghost. "Okay." Ghost starts down the corridor. I follow her, and soon we're in a large cavern. It's walls are some kind of rock that is softly glowing with a blue light. "Wait, is this the way out?"
Ghost looks back at me. "Yes, but with a detour."
~~~
A treasure room? Somewhere with memories? Or the cavern where the flood started originally? idk
Twiga says <uetta> you ate a what?
-
GoldenfeatherParticipantGhost~
I start into the middle of the rocks and begin chanting in latin.
"Aqua, Terra, Caelum, Ignis, show me the path, show me your secrets, show me the past, the present, the future, but keep them safe."
The rocks began to glow blue, white, red, or green, and rearranged themselves in a pattern. I fell to the ground, panting heavily.
"Well. It's been a long time since I last used that enchantment."
The rocks are rearranging quickly, and I manage to stand up and start analyzing them.

IkeaKit–
Felix knows a nearby hospital and leads me down a set of winding alleys to get there, gunshots firing all around us. I can feel my heart pounding against my chest and I worry that it will pop, like a balloon that's been stepped on. Felix and I manage to share the wait of the unconscious elven soldier between us, but the body is still heavy and we aren't able to move quickly. I wonder if we should have left them, or if we should have taken them to a medical tent–but I remind myself Paralia is a Resistance-occupied city. (At least, that's what Felix had told me.) The hospital is probably where they're already keeping their wounded.
We manage to survive our trip to the hospital, and my suspicions are confirmed. There's a group of Resistance medics waiting outside the hospital. I guess the hospital must be full, as they've set up tents to store bodies in. I don't know if they're dead or alive and I decide I don't want to know.
"Who in Claaws' name are you?" One of the medics shouts at us. They're short, and thin, with a mess of freckles and ruffled blond hair on their head. They look mostly human but their eyes are strangely animal-like.
"We're civilians. We're not here to attack," Felix calls. He begins to set the body on the ground and I mirror him, stepping away from it as soon as possible.
"I'm Felix, and this is Kit." He gestures towards me. The medics eye us warily.
"I already stitched up the wound on his…" I trail off. What's the word, again? I realize I can't think of it. I realize I don't remember the word and I feel scared and worried because what if I forget everything again and I never remember anything again but most of all I feel useless and stupid and now the medic is waiting for me to finish the sentence but I can't remember the damn word and I don't know what to do.
Felix, thank the Powers, seems to sense that I can't speak, and finishes for me. "They stitched up the wound on his abdomen."
Abdomen, that was the word I was looking for, the one I couldn't find but Felix could and I feel stupid and useless and scared–and the medic is giving me a concerned look–and I realize I'm not ready for this, for the real world. Not yet. Not ever.
The medics bring us into the hospital and say we can spend the night there. The building is already packed with other refugees from the city, and I see nurses and doctors bandaging wounds and passing out supplies. I wonder how long I'll be trapped in here, listening to the sounds of the ill and watching death and suffering from the constant droning noise of gunshots. Days. Weeks, maybe.
I feel like I'm suffocating.
Felix and I are uninjured and so we're guided into a smaller room, which an absurdly low number of peole are in. I guess hardly anyone who was able to get to safety did it safely. I almost feel like laughing at the irony of it.
"Are they…alright?" I hear the blond-haired, freckle-faced medic ask Felix. I notice the medic's greyish-green uniform is covered in blood. I wonder whose body it was once inside of.
Felix glances at me. "Kit? You're alright, right?"
I nod. "Yeah. I…had kind of an accident a while ago. Damaged my memory a little, that's all." A little. Ha.
"Is that how you lost your arm?" The medic asks.
I shake my head. "No. Was born without one."
Eventually, the lights are turned out and everyone lays down on one of the white cots lined against the wall. A few of the medics–including the blond, animal-eyed one–end up spending the night in the same room as us. I guess it was the only place with space left. Somehow, I'm able to fall asleep, the sound of gunfire still ringing in my ears.
~~~
Kind of a long post, I'm aware.
IkeaKit~~
"Hey, Kit, wake up."I open up my eyes to see Felix's face looming above mine. There's a grin plastered to his expression, and I wonder why. A moment later, my question is answered when he reveals the hospital workers have passed out breakfast.
The meal is small, and consists of toast, fried grubs, and a cup of warm tea. Even if there's not much of it, the food actually doesn't taste bad–although, I don't remember very many tastes that I can compare it to.
A nurse comes into the room to collect our dishes, and as I hand her my plate I notice the medics are all gone. I suppose they must be tending to the wounded, who can only be growing in number. Already, the sounds of gunfire have resumed.
The suffocating feeling from last night returns.
I decide I will feel better if I'm able to do something. I stand up and approach the nurse, trying not to bump into anyone.
"Do you need any help treating injuries?" I ask the nurse. "I have experience with that." At least, I hope I do–I can't exactly remember many times I've treated people. But last night, I seemed to know what I was doing.
The nurse looks at me, their gaze lingering briefly on my metal arm. "You're the one who patched up that soldier last night, right?"
I nod.
"Well, we need all the help we can get. Sure, I guess." I follow them out of the room, and they take me to the person who seems to be in charge. Said person is a tall Dolor Felis with ginger fur and green eyes.
The Dolor Felis looks at me. "What?!" She snaps.
"The cyborg wants to know if they can help with the wounded," The nurse explains.
The Dolor Felis stares at me for a moment. "Hmm. I suppose they can help Hildebrande."
The nurse takes me into another branch of the hospital, where the injured lay on cots lined all against the wall. It looks like some sort of twisted department store.
To my surprise, Hildebrande turns out to be the medic from last night. He looks equally shocked to see me.
"Colonel Hildebrande, this is Kit. They're here to…help, I guess."
"Kit!" He says, with a grin. "Name's Angel Hildebrande. Nice to properly meet." He holds out his hand, which I shake. I notice his hair is really more of a light brown than a blonde. I also notice he's much shorter than me.
"Yeah, sure is…" I trail off, noticing one of the patients.
"That's Lieutenant Allen. I'm sure he'll be real nice to you when he wakes up," the medic says. "You saved his life, y'know."
I glance over at…Claaws, what's his name? An…An-what? I notice his eyes, and suddenly 'Animal Eyes' is the only name I can think of for him.
"Not much of a talker, I guess," Animal Eyes says, after I let the silence continue. "Right! Let's get to work."
I spend the rest of the afternoon stitching and bandaging wounds, and doing my best to look like I understand how I know how to do everything. Animal Eyes manages to hold several conversations with me, though they're mostly one-sided. He doesn't seem to mind–I think he likes the sound of his own voice a little too much.
When night finally comes, I am thankful to finally rest.~~ -
MoonKittenParticipant~SilverwhiskerI stare at the rocks as they move around and eventually settle, still glowing. Ghost looks at them, frowning. She walks around to see it from different angles, and eventually, she says, "I don't know what it means. It's never been like this before."
I move to the middle of the rocks to see if I can see anything, even though I don't know how to interpret them. Then I see a pattern. And I understand it. I don't know how or why, but it's like I've seen it before.
I see Goldenfeather. And lynxes – me and my family. And one I don't recognise. And… a shapeless form… somehow I know that that's what killed my family.
Ghost is staring at me. "You understand it?"
I nod slowly.
"Huh. Well, what do you see?"
I summarise it, then say, "We need to go to __ to find Golden."
~~~
We could go to the Grasplands and do that RP at least for a little (idk if you're allowed to do that)? Or Sprocketville, or the Drifter Outpost. What do you think?

GoldenfeatherParticipantGhost~
The rocks begin to rearrange themselves again, and I begin to decipher it in my brain.
"So if x is there, and y is there, z must be there….x is 2y, then z would equal to 4y, z equals to 2x…then that connects right there, pythagorean theorom…then that, over there, yeah angles equal 180, that's good…aha!"
I madly scribble something down on a leaf and begin to scrutinize the rocks.
"Goldenfeather was on a ship called The Avenger 2 days ago, that's how long we've been in the Labyrinth, yes it's right, no don't question my facts, how do I know? because according to the shadows of the rocks, it's about midday, two middays already passed so yeah. She's now in- I- Drifter's Outpost."
-
.ParticipantJust so you two know, Drifter Outpost is a Resistance camp.

GoldenfeatherParticipantAll the better then!
