Feline Fantasy ParticipantOrbilata sounds good. 😀
Hmm, so what if much of it was about various characters with different attitudes/ relationships towards the criminal gangs and magic, and many of the character's stories intertwine?
It shouldn't be a thing where it's like this person has this job and this person has this job or everyone has a character like an RP but probably some people should be more focused on certain parts of the world and characters than others.

MoonHaloParticipantNeverlandI like the idea that the character stories intertwine. Maybe it can be a bit like the episode in My Little Pony where they all learn that how they got their cutie mark was all connected. Except it wouldn't be a cutie mark, but some other life changing thing, but none of them know the other impacted this.
Questions: What should the types of magic be? Are there different types of magic? Is magic spelled magic or magick in this world? Would the magic be more like in Harry Potter where there is one source and you cast spells? Or would it be more like in Avatar where you control a part of the universe? Or like in the Black Witch where depending on your race controls what magic is for you? Are there different levels of magic?

And what if there's some kind of prophecy about kids who bring peace… Or is that too cliche?

Feline FantasyParticipantHalo, I think the whole point was to have a bunch of different characters who's stories intwertwine in different ways. I don't want there to just be one connection — like, maybe there is a character who leads a gang and who's brother is creating a newspaper about the gangs, and they have a mutual friend whom they don't realize they share who is trying to stay out of everything but gets tied in and she has an enemy who is trying to restore magic but differently from the —
oops, nevermind, that was actually bunch of random ideas. I am thinking it would be cool to have complex motivations and stuff. About the magic system, we really need to figure that out — what do y'all think? Maybe instead of sticking to one kind we could have different kinds (i.e. one that is hereditary, one that is in common use, one that takes years of studying, etc..)
Moonkitten, maybe, but there could be some people who were raised to play a major role and one side of the magic crime gang thing,

MoonKittenParticipantI like the idea of different kinds of magic, though we probably don't want too many. Maybe there could be like Seven Ways (or three or four or eight) or something, and some are more powerful than others, and some more common than others, etc. And they could be Wizardry, Sorcery, Spellcraft, um… Elemental… um… something. Just random ideas here.

Milky WayHmmm, maybe like magic without wands, though sometimes magic infused objects can help enhance your magic. I like MoonKitten's idea of the different categories of magic. Maybe you can only have an affinity for one of them, or very rarely, two. Maybe each gang has a specialized type of magic that they use. Maybe some magic using people are hired by the government to spy on the gangs from the inside… that would be cool. Also, we should spell magic in a unique way… maybe maegic or magicke or something like that.
-
NightParticipantWe could spell 'magic' like how it's pronounced!
majik? does that sound good?
I like the idea of the wands/scepters. It gives the feeling that nobody's op because if someone gets their wand/scepter/whatever taken away, they don't have 'majik' anymore 😀

Feline FantasyParticipantI feel like we shouldn't have the magic be too rigid . . . maybe, like, a force in nature which someone can learn to manipulate — or at least that could be the most common type?
Saffron says "ammmu" . . . she thinks that she is you!

SybillParticipant???
IkeaThat sounds good.

PeppermintParticipantLost in a bookShould there be a couple different types of magic? Or should everyone have the same type of magic? Also, I really like Orbilata as the name!
