@Moon WolfParticipantSeadragon writing thisMoon Wolf, what do you think about shipping Ky and Morrigan? I know originally I said that Morrigan wouldn't be shipped but I think that they'd get along well.
—
–Morrigan–
The next day, I arrive at the bookstore early enough for the "before-work rush". Some people come in and buy academic books (Negative Numbers for Beginners, The Complete Book of Science, How to Write a Thesis) and then one of the regular patrons, Ky (?), comes in.
"Do you have any books about local history?" he asks, coming straight to the front desk. "Specifically the history of stars?"
"Yes," I say. "Over there." I indicate with my typewriter-eraser pencil. Ky goes over to the books, and looks through them. He picks out two of them and brings them over.
"I'd like to buy these," he says.
I ring them up at the cash register and then he says,
"Have you ever heard of the Zeithran Star?"
I think through my memories. I've only ever once heard those words before, in an old song. I was seventeen and I'd snuck into a night restaurant to hear a band play. I wish you were here, and the Zeithran Star had followed you, and everything was well. That's what the singer had said.
"Once in a song," I say. "But no more." -

A Celestial SkySure! I also think they'd get along well!
_Ky_
I head to the bookstore to check out any information about the Zeithran Star, or whatever. I think back to when I was a child, glimpsing that beautiful star…it was so long ago and blurry that I'm half-convinced it's a dream. But who knows? It's not like I have much else to do other than my cafe work.
I go up to the front desk and ask, "Do you know any books about local history? Specifically the history of stars?"
"Yes," the receptionist says. The tag on her shirt reads Morrigan. "Over there." She gestures to a shelf nearby.
I walk over to the shelf and scan it for any books of…shall I say, interest. I find one of them that reads, Stars of the City: Facts and Fantasy. It might be useful, so I take it out of the shelf. I spot another interesting title that reads, Great Mysteries: Stars. I take that one as well before going up to the front desk to buy them.
"I'd like to buy these," I say. She rings them up at the cash register. After a moment, I say a little hesitantly, "Have you ever heard of the Zeithran Star?"
She pauses for a moment, thinking. Then she says, "Once in a song. But no more."
That's not never, I think. "Okay. If you don't mind, could you tell me the song lyrics?"

"I think," I say to Ky, "it was something like I wish you were here, and the Zeithran Star had followed you, and everything was well.Maybe?" I'm feeling more nervous than is normal for me around strangers–why?
"Okay," says Ky. "When was the song?"
"Six years ago," I say. "I was seventeen."
"Huh," says Ky. "I used to see an actual star in the sky marked on star maps as The Zeithran Star, but not anymore. I think it's been five years? So the song would have been played a year before."
"Interesting," I say.
"I'm headed to the public library," Ky says. "Here's my information if you need anything." He takes out a small card with the name Kyleine "Ky" Luneswift, listing the location of a house in Beachside.
"Thanks," I say. I give him one of my business cards and scribble "663A Water Street on it, then hand it to him.—–

I try to find out about Mr. Grebnesor, but nothing seems prominent. It's just that kind of muddled-up day. In New Science, I try not to listen to Mr. G's brain, and later I tell Aventurine about it. But other than that there's nothing new.

I'll be on an overnight field trip from Tuesday to Friday, so I won't see anything posted then.

The City of 1000 StarsWow @Seadragon, I want to thank you so much for almost singlehandedly keeping this thread alive (in which case, thank you Moon Wolf too!), because I have NOT been doing well with this, so sorry, but I still love love love this RP it's just not writing as easily for me as it was before, just want to clarify! And, ooh, overnight field trip!! My brother's going on one from Tuesday to Friday too, suppose you're going on the same one? In any case, have so much fun (and remember to drink lots of water if they tell you to, which I did a horrible job of my first overnight school trip) and I'd love to hear about it when you get back! 🙂
I'll try to post later but for now~

A Celestial SkyThey can stay at Beachside (the place where Violet and Celeste stays)! It's basically one big place with separate residences/rooms, though there can be shared rooms (like Violet and Celeste's).

"I think we should investigate Mr. Grebnesor," says Aventurine. "Go into the antechamber or whatever it's called."
"It's not that kind of day," I say. It's just before Ms. Rosen's class, and we're on the train.
"Well then," says Aventurine, "for me it is that kind of day." And of course, after Ms. Rosen's class, I follow Aventurine to Mr. Erlenmeyer's classroom. This is a very risky maneuver, but, perhaps because he doesn't have any papers to grade, Mr. Grebnesor is not there.
We go into the office off the classroom. It's been transformed since I last saw it: The papers are gone and the bulletin board is prisitine. I look around and find the "Casey Rosenberg" sign in the recycling, and there are cleaning products and a rag on the desk. That must be how Mr. G took away the writing on the board.
"Mr. G is hiding the evidence," says Aventurine.
"Shhh!" I say, too late. Some footsteps are coming. I pull Aventurine under the desk and crouch with her, pulling a paper shredder and the recycling bin in front of us.
"Mr. G?" asks the voice of Mx. Alberts, who is the Science Division Leader for City School. "Are you here? I want to discuss about the hiring." Mx. Alberts walks closer. Please please please do not look under the desk!!! I implore them.
"Casey Rosenberg," says Mx. Alberts, and then turns on their heels and walks away. I look at my watch, time ninety seconds, and then usher myself and Aventurine out of the desk. Aventurine puts the bins away.
"At least now they know," I say.
"True," says Aventurine. "We left the door open."
"Maybe Mx. Alberts did?" I ask hopefully, but that's a bit of a lie, because Mx. Alberts is always pristine and has cleaner clothes even than the principal.
We walk out and Aventurine closes the door, and I hope that things will take a turn for the better.-

Morecoming(hopefully)soonSorry this took SO MUCH LONGER than it really should have, especially given the quality… ugh•l_Cassandra_l•Mr. Ernestmeier isn't here in science today, which is just as well, as I got a bit distracted on homework yesterday while watching the elephants roam in Africa (just something I like to do). The teacher is Mr Grebnesor instead, who's nice, but for some reason the whole time I was in class, I kept thinking that "science is cool", which, it is – science is my favorite subject! – but was still slightly interesting because it… didn't really feel like it was my thought, exactly? But I decide it's probably just my overactive imagination acting up again. I mean, just a few days ago, I had even thought I'd seen a ghost! Can you believe it? I was just walking down the street and saw this man or whatever, playing a sax, singing something about a Zeithran star or whatever? Then he just flickered and disappeared! Who knows. Anyway, at lunch, I decide to go to Mr. G's classroom to ask for an extension on the homework, which was a self-experiment of our own design. I'm testing what effect different ice cream flavors in the morning have on my mood. So far, I have mint chip (chipper, fittingly), red velvet (meh, normal), rasberry rush (kinda hyper), and vanilla/cookies and cream (content). I need to test 15 different flavors in total for it to count, though, and the project was due today. When I get to the science room, however, no one is in. Two of my classmates, I think their names are… Aventurine and… Dolores? Dorrie? are exiting and so I ask them "Hey, do you know where Mr. G is? I need to ask him about something."

(Newly Arrived)
I get my schedule and wander around the school, trying to find my classroom. I walk up, past Mx. Alberts, muttering about someone called “Casey Rosenberg” and something about the science classroom. Why does their name sound… familiar? I find myself near what I presume is the science classroom, where two people walk out a moment later. Well, that was an interesting coincidence. I walk up to them and ask, “Hey, odd question, do you know anyone named Casey Rosenberg?” They looked surprised, but exchanged a knowing look between them.
What’s up with that name? And what do those two know about it?
-
SeadragonParticipant~Dorrie~
"Why?" Aventurine asks, to perhaps both of the students standing by us.
"Um, I wanted to know something," says one of the students, Cass (?).
"No, it's OK," I tell her. "Mr. G isn't in his classroom."
"Should I tell him you were looking for him?" she says.
"No, please don't," I say a bit too nervously.
"Why?" they ask, giving me an eagle eye.
"We were looking to see if he had extra copies of a textbook," says Aventurine. "I lost mine, and to be honest Mr. G doesn't like it when I'm scatterbrained."
"Oh, OK," says Cass.
"Anyway, do you know a Casey Rosenberg?" Ezra asks. "I heard Mx. Alberts talking about someone with that name."
"I don't," I say. "Do you?"
"As it turns out," Ezra tells us, "I do. Casey Rosenberg is my neighbor, and he's always bringing in weird packages."
"Huh," says Aventurine. "Nice to see you." And then we leave. -

I internally groan. Gosh, that was so stupid of me. “Nevermind,” I say to Dorrie and Aventurine. “Sorry about that.”
Also, @Seadragon, should Ezra be new or has he been at the school for a while?

Okay, thank you! I think he'll probably be new to the school.

"Hey Ky!" Violet exclaims. "Where'd you go yesterday afternoon?"Ky is one of our roommates at Beachside, which Violet opened to everyone to stay. He's mostly quiet and keeps to himself, which I don't mind."Bookstore and library," he replies simply. He continues to walk to his room, and I assume he will enter, but he pauses just before and asks us, "Have you heard of the Zeithran Star before?""The Zeithran Star," I repeat. "I…might've heard of it somewhere. It was magical or something."Violet's eyes are shimmering with excitement as she says, "Oh! I've heard fairy tales about it as a kid! It supposedly grants wishes and is full of magic!""Sounds like a fairy tale," I say.Ky nods seriously. "So do you know if it's…actually real?""Real!?" I laugh. I then pause for a moment, thinking about it. "Could be possible. But unlikely."Violet nods in agreement. "It would be cool to look into it.""Thanks," Ky replies. "Are you headed off to the City School?"I groan, but nod. Violet also nods."Mind if you keep a lookout for anything useful about it that you see?" he asks."Sure!" Violet smiles. "Kay, Cele, let's go! We don't want to be late!"I sigh but shoulder my backpack and follow her. It's going to be a long day. -

Someone has put a few more books into the donation box. I mark them with prices, scan them into the system, and put them on the shelves. The titles are Muffins for Beginners, despite the sign reading "We Have Enough Cookbooks" on the donation box; Traveling the Winding River, A History of the Blue Sea Salt Harvesters, and The Zeithran Star.
Wait. I pick up the last one and find myself wondering if I should hold it for Ky. I haven't taken his business card home; I put it in the compartment on my typewriter.
Oh goodness. Is something happening between me and Ky? Who knows. I put the book on the shelf and go back to shelving books. -
