PoinsettiaParticipantI really don't like most candy… When I was little, I didn't even like chocolate and ice cream. I still don't like most flavors of ice cream, except for lemon and tangerine. Anyway, back to candy, most of it just tastes so artificial… Although one of the teachers at my school, an Italian woman, gave me a lemon-flavored Italian candy and it looks delicious, but I still haven't gotten round to trying it.

(First time posting on this website :D)I don’t know if this is a popular or unpopular opinion, but Taylor Swift haters are so cringe. Like it’s just music bro XD People are allowed to like what they like. Taylor is such a talented performer and singer and songwriter, and such a wonderful person. She doesn’t deserve all the hate 🙁

Outskirts of the Galaxyyeah absolutely! like, you don’t have to like her music, but you also don’t need to hate on her and make fun of people who do??
also, welcome to the CB :DD
-
WildWolfGuestOh my gosh THANK YOU!! I’m always saying this, everyone has their own music taste! It seems like Taylor/swifties seem to get targeted for hate way more than most artists/fans of other artists do. It’s really weird…
Anyway, welcome to the chatterbox River!! :DD

ThalorwinGuestI don’t like Taylor Swift, but it’s okay if other people do. Honestly, I think she’s over rated. Though still, okay if others like her! I’ve never seen others that like Taylor Swift get hated on, or maybe that’s just me. I don’t hate people for their beliefs/likes. How are Taylor Swift “haters” cringe, @River? And also, Welcome to the Chatterbox!!!
-
RiverGuest@Thalorwin, Taylor Swift haters are cringe because they think they’re cool just for not liking her, or they think that it’s a big part of their personality just because they hate her. It’s also just extremely cringe to not like her as a person in my opinion, like it’s fine to not like her music but why would someone say they don’t like her when she’s such a wonderful person? “Her music isn’t for everyone” sure. “I don’t like her as a human” ew.
-
ThalorwinGuestI didn’t know people did that. I get it now.

CaliforniaThank you for saying that! A lot of people in my school used to like her but then started hating on her after the Eras Tour ended. I say I like Taylor Swift and they say, “YoU lIkE tAyLoR sWiFt?”

LyricGuesthummingbird wingsI consider all the 21st century fantasy books I’ve read to be really unsatisfying, to put it gently (especially the ones with passive, single-faceted characters). It’s sad…I used to love those books:( If anyone has a recommendation for a fantasy book that lets round, realistic characters move the plot along, I’d be overjoyed to check it out and change my mind.
-
AmethystGuesttime of our livesOh dear, same… in fact, I find it really hard to find good fantasy books in general. The best modern ones I can recommend are the fairy tale retellings by Wendy Mass, especially Rapunzel, the One With All the Hair – they’re not beautifully well-written, but they’re super hilarious and entertaining, and fairly well worked out. For older stuff, though, there are always writers like C.S. Lewis and Tolkien and Edward Ormondroyd; The Twilight of Magic, by Hugh Lofting, is one of my favorite hardly-known fantasies, and Freaky Friday by Mary Rodgers is good for light, this-world fantasy reading.

WildWolfGuestI recently read a book called Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell, and the characters were wonderful. They were super complex and lovable and unique, and there was only one Mary Sue character. It did lean more towards middle grade, but I would recommend it to any age. Plus, if you enjoy it there’s a second one that came out earlier this year:)

SinusoidalGuest@River on the Taylor Swift comment@River on the Taylor Swift comment:
I don’t think Taylor Swift haters hate Swift herself, but rather her cult-like following of the “Swifties”; they aren’t making fun of people that like her music but people that are just so loyal to her and her image that not only will they defend her in any circumstance or criticism of her work, but also near-worshipping her and try to force her music on other people.
It’s fine in my book to enjoy her music. I don’t enjoy her music but I don’t like the kinds of Swifties that try to force it on me.
-
RiverGuest@SinusoidalI don’t think my last post went through, so I’m posting it again.
Hi Sinusoidal! I firstly want to say this post isn’t trying to be mean or rude, I would just like to share my opinion on some of the things you said.
I understand why you might feel that way, because the swiftie community can be toxic sometimes. However, to describe it as “cult like” is really disrespectful. We do not nearly worship her, and when we defend her it’s just because she, like I said before, gets a lot of unnecessary hate.
You are actually incorrect on people hating swifties and not Taylor herself… so, so many people attack her directly with their actions and words.
Lastly, I doubt anyone is actually “forcing” Taylor’s music on you…they’re probably just trying to share something that they enjoy. If they are playing her music when you don’t want to listen to it, I suggest removing yourself from the situation.
-
SinusoidalGuestHello River!
I don’t think the entire Swiftie community is “cult-like” as I put it before. In fact, one of my friends is one, and she simply enjoys her music. What I refer to as “cult-like” is the toxic part that you are referring to.
If I could change the post earlier, instead of saying “cult like following of the Swifties” I would say “in the swiftie community”.
I am not up on all of this news, and probably have no right to give my opinion, and am sorry that you found my comment disrespectful, that was not the intention at all. Most of the Taylor Swift haters I have met are probably not actual Taylor Swift haters that you were talking about, mostly just hating the toxic part of the Swiftie community. If there are actual people that hate her specifically I would agree with your commnent.
Sorry if my reply was a bit confusing.
