"Thank you Oceanstar." she meowed. Then she dipped her head and went to find Summerberry. "Summerberry." she mewed. "Will you please take me as your apprentice?" she asked

"Thank you so much Summerberry. It is an honor to be learning from you! I don't mind that you are helping a cat from another Clan," she meowed. "Is there anything you need me to do?" she asked.

"Greetings, Oceanstar. I am Falconpaw, a young dark brown she-cat with black stripes. My father was a clan cat, and my mother was a rogue. They both died in a badger attack two moons ago, when I was only four moons old. The memory is like a thorn stuck in my heart. It was their greatest wish that I find a clan to join. I think OceanClan is the best choice because I am a very strong swimmer and I don't really mind salty water. I will make a very hardworking, energetic, and funny apprentice. Could I join?"

"Of course you may join! I'm sorry about your parents, but you will be welcome here, and we will always treat you as your family! Come with me, into the main clearing."

She led her into the clearing and jumped onto the High Stone to call a Clan meeting.

"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather here under the High Stone for a Clan meeting!!"

"By making apprentices we show that OceanClan will survive and remain strong."

"From this moment on, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice will continue to be known as Falconpaw."

"Because we have a shortage of warriors, I will be a mentor to Falconpaw." Oceanstar jumped down from High Stone and rested her muzzle on Falconpaw's head. She licked her shoulder respectively, and went to sit down with Summerberry and Fireflight.

"Falconpaw, you will come with me to do a hunting patrol. Then I will teach you basic fighting moves." She lead her new apprentice out of the clearing. "Since your father was a Clan cat, tell me what you know about catching mice." 

"Fireflight, I guess you could go gather some herbs, and you can help sort them when you come back. I need you to get some cobwebs, yarrow, and poppyseeds."

"Ok Summerberry" she meowed. Then she walked out of camp. "Hmm lets see first i need to find some yarrow." She tasted the air. "I smell some at the border." she meowed. Then she collected a mouthful of yarrow. As she walked towards camp she found a branch of poppy seeds. "Good, now all i need is some cobwebs. Oh here i found some!" she meowed as she collected them and went back to camp to show Summerberry.

"Falconpaw, come with me into the forest and I'll teach you how to catch mice." She ed the way until she saw a mouse cracking a nut. She checked to make sure she was down wind, and slid up to the mouse. Oceanstar put her paws down carefully, for mice can feel before they hear. When she was a tail-length away, she pounced, landing directly on the mouse's shoulders. "Nice catch!" Falconpaw meowed. "Thanks, but now you try it on this leaf. Put your paws down as light as you can, keep your tail just above the ground, and always make sure you are downwind. You can try it." Falconpaw did as she was told, and caught the 'mouse' perfectly. "Wonderful! Now let's try it on a real mouse!" Soon there was 2 more mice to add the Oceanstar's, and they had moved to the pond to catch fish. "Okay, the thing with fish is that once you catch one, all the others know that they're being hunted. Stand at the edge of the pond, make sure your shadow doesn't go in the pond, and flick your paw in the water like this." She demonstrated it in the air, and pretended to flick a fish up in the air, grab it in her jaws, and deliver the killing bite. "Now try it on a real fish." Again, Falconpaw did a wonderful job, and they returned to camp with 3 mice, 2 fish, and a young black-bird that Falconpaw decided to try the fish flick on and had surprisingly worked.

"Good observation, Falconpaw. I will go and check it out tomorrow."

"Greetings! I am Whispertide, a gray tom with white paws. I've met Falconpaw before, and was her traveling companion for a while after her parents died." Whispertide nodded to Falconpaw, who flicked her tail in a happy response.

"I am a strong warrior, and I can fish and hunt very well," Whispertide continued. "Could I be your deputy?"
