Dusty Librairan-Second Part!!GuestOkay, maybe at this point I should tell you guys who I am?? Okay. At the bottom of the pot I’ll say who I am…
Part 2. The Night Shift
–
You get dismissed by the librarian and everyone starts to turn to leave.
“Hold on!” The librarian says,”I need one of you to work the night shift tonight.”
Everyone starts mumbling to themselves. After a little bit, when no one seems interested, you raise your hand. “I’ll do it,” you say.
“Perfect! So glad that you’ll be working at the library late tonight. I’ll have to tell you some pointers before I leave,” the librarian exclaims, excited that you volunteered.
You suddenly realize you never learned the librarian’s name. You ask her, and she replies saying,” I’m Mable Moonweather, but you can just call me Ms Mable.”
You turn to leave then remember that Ms Mable said that you had to stay for a little bit. The librarian rolls over a huge cart filled to the brim with books. “I need you to use the computer to check all these books back into the system and put them back onto the shelves. Are you able to that?” You nod in reply. “Great! I’ll leave this cart here, and I’ll leave now. Thanks again for volunteering for this!”
“Um, you’re welcome,” you say, turning around toward the door.
“Hold on!” The cheerful librarian states, “I’m just gonna warn you…”
“Oh no,” you think. “Not hesitation.”
The librarian continues,”The library feels, different at night.”
—Three hours later, the library is empty. It closed about an hour ago. You think about what the librarian told you earlier. She was right. It does feel different. The library feels numb and eerie. Mysterious as well? You glance over at that cart of books you had to put back on the shelves. You groan at that sheer number of books. But you know this is your job. You grab the first book and walk over to the computer. You scan it with the barcode reader, figure out were it needs to go, then walk to put it away.
You do the rest, then you have one left. You glance at that last book. You notice that it has an empty spine, no visible title. You flip through the pages, seeing if its title is on the inside. Still none. You find the barcode, then scan it. It seems to of not gone through right. You try again. One more time, you think. On the last try, the system lags, then a few short words show up on the screen:
THIS BOOK DOES NOT EXIST

Dusty Librarian-Next Part!!!GuestOkay! Part 3 now? Wow! This is sure flying by. You all enjoy it! It also reveals some stuff about the library’s history, so read closely.
Part 3: The Café
The next morning after the odd encounter at the library, you yawn, stretching to wake yourself up more. Your stomach gives a loud rumble, similar to a bear growling after a long winter. You walk downstairs to eat some of your staple meal, cereal, specifically a mix of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, a hearty amount of Fruit Loops, then a small sprinkle of Chocolate Cheerios. It is pure deliciousness. You open the cabinet to find that you’re fresh out of cereal. Shrugging, you look for a nice breakfast spot in town. You’re suddenly reminded that you live in a small town and that there’s a really nice cafe up the hill. Upon opening the door, the breeze sweeps through your hair and you smell the fresh scent of leaves.
As you begin the walk up the hill to the cafe, you spot the library. A fresh sense of mystery suddenly pops into your brain, what had happened the night before?
You open the door to the cafe and see a woman, maybe around the age of 50, with a slightly wrinkled forehead and a welcoming smile. She waves and half ushers you over the counter where she’s standing.
“How are you doing today?” She says in a slightly southern accent. “My name is Cornelia Watermelon. Just joking! Why would my last name be watermelon?” She chuckles. “I am Cornelia Harper, the proud owner of the cafe! Might I mention, I’ve never seen you around in town before. What’s your name?”
You immediately state your name. Cornelia Harper seemed nice enough. You talk for awhile, then the topic falls to the library. “I’m helping out at the library for the nightshift,” you say. The sweet cafe owner’s eyes widen. You wonder what you said wrong.
“The library?” She asks.
“Um,” you gulp, “yes,” you say, “why?”
“Oh, well, I’ve heard things are a little bit mysterious around there now. Books falling off the shelves, creaky floors, the usual creepy library vibes. You know, when I was a kid, there were some really strange stories about that library,” she adds “Would you like to hear it?”
“Of course!” You reply, excited to know some about where you work.
“Well,” Cornelia starts, “it comes from a land, from a far away place, where the caravan camels roam. Kidding of course! I love the story of Aladdin… Anyways, I’m going of track aren’t I? So, there were tales about a mysterious book that pops in and out of the library. A book that was never supposed to be there. It had a bare spine. Odd right?”
“Huh,” you think aloud. “I saw a book without a title on my return books pile last night!”
“You did?” The cafe owner asks. She noticed your excited nod in reply. “Got it. So, town legend says that the book is alive, and that it writes down people’s names before they…” oh no, not hesitation. “Before they die.”
You gasp, wondering what was written in that book. Was your name in there?
“Oh, but it was only a silly legend with people trying to scare us,” she adds, noticing your fright. “It was just a ton of fun for us kids, goofing off and all.”
“I forgot to ask you, would you like a drink, or anything to eat?” She says, obviously changing the topic on purpose. Was she hiding something?
“Yes please! That’s why I came here to begin with. I guess I just forgot with all this excitement,” you say, surprised you forgot about your extreme hunger. “I’ll have a glass of orange juice and a croissant please,” you request.
“Coming right up! It’ll be on the house for you today. Thanks for letting me share my creepy tale!” She says, handing you your food.
“Oh, thank you so much! Have a nice rest of your day,” you say.
“You’re welcome! Stop by anytime,” she says, and with that, you head back home to enjoy your breakfast.

There! Done!! Hope you all are still engaged. I’m not sure how to weave in the characters at this very moment, but stay tuned. Your characters may end up somewhere odd.
