QuenbyGuestI’m American, 4th of July and stuff, my family is southern so I celebrate Mardi Gras. My “culture” is quite weird though, because I’m an army brat (my dad is in the army). I kind of think the military is its own culture, because the lifestyle is so different. I have moved 5 times (about every 2 or 3 years) which is pretty normal in military circles. I think that military affiliated people tend to be really welcoming because everyone knows what it’s like to show up in a new place and not know anyone. Schools and childcare is also really different because everything is government funded. I also can’t write a post about military life without mentioning Freedom’s Choice, the store brand at the Commissary (the grocery store on military posts). And the AFN commercials. (AFN is the military TV program: Armed Forces Network)

A Celestial SkySince tis the season, I was wondering what everyone’s holiday traditions were!
I personally celebrate Dongzhi, or winter solstice, and my family usually eats tangyuan, which are sweet rice balls filled with sesame paste or something else served in a sweet soup. It’s quite nice, since it warms you during the cold season.
What does everyone else do?-
SinusoidalGuestOver here, Hanukkah just finished! On the last day I did a concert for a Jewish assisted living centre and everyone really liked the music I was playing (a lot of Hanukkah songs, plus some Chopin, Beethoven, and Turina [Joaquin Turina])
