bottled_haze_Okayy i don’t have time for a full reply rn (had the IV a few days ago, which is really just hours of sitting there twice, but then you feel bad) -GuestOkayy i don’t have time for a full reply rn (had the IV a few days ago, which is really just hours of sitting there twice, but then you feel bad) –
That’s not good about new diseases… i’ve heard of avian flu, which is killing chickens and cows and may spread to other animals. (another reason that reducing meat, egg, and dairy intake is a really important thing… i’ll respond more to your comments on that later, (but it sounds like a nutrient deficiency tbh… i mean that shouldn’t happen), and people tend to get very upset about this and i don’t want to come across as judgy or anything – i care about this for the same reason you think it’s a good thing i’m doing a no-buy. Because it’s a matter of hurting others. and i know that you care about the state of the world. I’m actively trying not to come across as mean or anything, so if i do, i’m not at all – just being receptive to this is more than most people are. also since it sounds like you went vegetarian for a bit – that’s fantastic!)
Also: People seem content to just keep getting COVID as long as they don’t die or become severely disabled from it. It seems little different from “common cold” at this point.
Yes, a daily graph might make things seem less perfectly okay…
I’ve noticed that a lot of people have talked about there being a lot of sickness lately and a lot of people missing from orchestra due to illness. Worse than before COVID, it sounded like. i think we should look into how it’s tracked in general…
Apparently it’s not just US that doesn’t care – i just read that Alberta, Canada no longer reports COVID outbreaks in acute care “post pandemic”, and it seems to be true though i didn’t look into it a ton
I’ll get a question list for the students, with some extra questions for different directions the conversation may go.

bottled_haze_Guestnot sure what happened to the last post, but here’s my initial draft for interview questions! we can also answer them ig. Sorry for disappearing; IV and also i’m sick (with what? no idea)
~
What inspires you to wear a mask?
Do you think people have done enough to stop COVID19?
Have you received any negative reactions due to wearing a mask?
Do you think it is most peoples’ responsibility to wear a mask, or do you think people should be allowed to choose? (answer, then) would this change if they know they are sick vs not knowing?
How do you think the COVID vaccines affected things? (let them answer) I’ve noticed they made people very complacent; do you agree or have other thoughts?
Do you have any experience with long COVID?
If you feel comfortable saying, have you lost anyone to COVID?
What made you realize the severity of the situation?
~
I’ll work on other lists for potential directions the conversation could go

PoinsettiaGuestHi! Oh my gosh I”m so sorry for the horrendously late reply; I was so caught up in schoolwork that I wasn’t able to be on the CB. I hope you’re feeling better from the IV <3
Those are great questions for the students!
It makes sense if people are getting sick a lot rn particularly – it’s That Time Of Year, especially in more northern areas. Another thing that always flummoxes me is that lots of people go out in shorts and T-shirts when there’s literally snow on the ground, which obviously is not a very good way to stay healthy. Besides, how can anyone even tolerate having so much bare skin exposed to the cold? I hate the cold even when I’m in a sweater and a fleece and a coat…
I think that I have to admit that I may not be able to be as active on this thread for now… I have a lot of schoolwork and the like, and I don’t want to just disappear without any explanation. It’s been super great to share ideas with you, and if there’s anything you very much want to keep discussing, let me know! Otherwise, though, I think I probably won’t be posting anything more for the moment. It’s been a fascinating conversation, and it’s so important to talk about these things and try to think of solutions, so thank you <3

bottled_haze_GuestI’m SO sorry I haven’t replied, i’ve been alternately very busy and fairly sick. Later today I’ll post some thoughts on some of the priorly-mentioned issues, i swear.
I joined a new community orchestra that’s made up of mostly older people (though there are a few younger ones) and one of the people is wearing a mask 😀 I could try to interview that person potentially. regardless i want to somehow tell them thanks. i’m not entirely sure how. we’ll see. anyway.
i am sick today also, and for some reason i’ve been having fevers (which normally i don’t have) and so it’s not impossible i’ll end up shaking so bad i can’t type again. but hopefully i will be able to respond.
