KatanaLunaGuestSorry, that was the wrong one!!! I wrote that one a while ago and already submitted it to a poetry contest!! Here’s the right one:
rain
what will you do when
s c r e a m s
drown out the staccato rhythm of raindrops,
when the sky is
suffocated by
ash and char and
petrichor is drowned with smoke?what will you do
when the sweet drops
f a l l i n g
are quenched by
the thirst for blood?what will you do
when starvation makes us
savage,
when insanity becomes relief,
when we are
forced to patch our broken world with
glass shards and dying brambles?what will you do,
when we become nothing more
than animals,
when muses
turn to sirens,
and men to monsters?what will you do
when our rivers
run bracken with poison,
when our oceans
are crushed by plastic?what will you do when
the rain is acid
and burns away
our flesh, and our
tears our venom
that consumes our eyes?what will you do
when hell is empty
and all the devils are here? -

A Celestial SkySince it’s already past December 11th (sorry for that it’s been quite hectic lately with finals and holidays and etc.) I’ll be judging January 8th, to hopefully give everyone more time to put things in. I really hope everyone decides to participate!

LyricGuestwith a poem!If you notice the Emily Dickinson allusion, which you most likely will, uh…don’t ask me why it’s there, I had a bit of writer’s block for this one, and I also wanted to be indirect
Water Cycle
The rain is bent on falling up
and leaving thirsty flower cups
to bloom for but a day, then bend in silence by the dust
of passing wind and wary trust
and still the water falls. From earth we hear the harps and geese,
on clouds that travel as they please
and up the stalk I cry,“Your nobodies are flowers, dears,
and if you listened, you would hear
a named bouquet of frogs.”And I suppose the cloud will burst,
for flower thorns are saved for worsts
and that’s the water cycle. -

A Celestial SkyExtending it once more to January 22nd, to hopefully give more time for submissions, otherwise I’ll just judge these two.

AmethystGuestin a "mist/spring/solstice/rain" moodOkay, hopefully made it before judging! I’m not sure how I feel about this, and I’ve been in a terrible poetry slump lately, but I suppose the poetry contest can provide much-need *motivation* – and besides, any entry is good at this point :))
r-a-i-n-d-r-o-p-s
resilient in its very fall, showing us that even gravity can be beautiful
anagrams of life, pouring, thrumming, whispering, each sound a space of infinity, here and not and unforgotten but they forgot
infinite dreams of immortality, linking sky to earth and washing away all redundancy and fear and tension – no need for it, not now
(never say never or forever, for illusions are born to shatter just as restrictions are)
defiance is unnecessary; it is enough to be, fully
rising is unnecessary, for the fall will take you where you need to go – it’s the journey, really;
open your heart and keep the world pure –
purity and storm and mingled spring hang together, after all – and
softly, surely, the world becomes new

HawkstarGuestDoesn’t look like @Moon Wolf has judged yet, phew hah I got a poem finally
-Emotions on High
Can you fault the sky
For having to cry
Washing away the filth in the air
Humans polluting emotions
Without care
Is it fair to conceal
The things you feel
When all you want
Is to flaunt
The power you have to make
Lightning strikes and roar
With thunder crashes
Screaming with the falling rain
Face wet from sky tears
But the salt that you taste
Isn’t from the ocean crashing below
It’s not right
To always be polite
You’re not always a sunny day
You just want to dump
All the expectations
Raining buckets on you from up high
The sky doesn’t hide
It shows its heart on its sleeve
Warns you when a storm is brewing
Before letting it free
So can you really
Fault the sky
For having to cry
To wash away the polluting emotions
To calm the raging inside? -

judging!Sorry! I’ve been meaning to judge for a while, but I haven’t found the time, but here it is at last! And these poems have all been beautiful, and I truly appreciate it that all of you took the time to participate!
Honorable Mention – Hawkstar!
I love how you made the poem rhyme! Rhyming poems tend to be difficult to pull off, but you did it very well, and it weaves together the poem beautifully! And using pollution and emotions and connecting them together is really cool. Good job!Third Place – KatanaLuna!
This poem is filled with emotions, and I think it pains a dramatic scene really well, using the repetition of “what will you do”. I especially love the last stanza of “what will you do / when hell is empty / and all the devils are here?”. It really leaves me thinking. Amazing!Second Place – Lyric!
I love the structure of this poem, and how the first two lines of each stanza rhyme. The poem sounds really musical and flowing, a bit of a dream-like quality, especially with the quote “Your nobodies are flowers, dears, /
and if you listened, you would hear / a named bouquet of frogs.” Great job!First Place – Amethyst!
I love a good acrostic poem, and you pulled it off really well in this poem! Each line feels so meaningful and beautiful, and the last line “softly, surely, the world becomes new” feels so poetic and warm. Congratulations! You’re the next judge! -
@Amethyst, you won!GuestIt's Hawkstar
Congratulations! I really liked the whole acrostic thing you did there, while still describing rain and the feelings so well 😀
-
AmethystGuestparchment by candlelightOh my gosh, this is such an unexpected honor! Especially since all the other poems were wonderful too. Tysm, Moon Wolf :]
The next prompt will be valiant, and I’ll be judging on February 21st.

AdminModeratorFrom Moon Wolf:
When darkness fell
And all seemed lost
When the world became ruin
And evils triumphed
When the last hero that stood
Crumbled into ashes like the rest
You opened your eyes
The wreckage which was once
A shining civilization
The ground where castles were built
And kingdoms prospered
You now stand upon
The legends whispered your name
Every fallen hero has now become
The stars that make up your constellation
And with their powers coursing through your veins
You will avenge them all
There is no place for fear in your heart
No doubt in each step you take
No dangers will make you fazed
Because the world is counting on you…
Valiant one
