AmityGuestImportant dates in September
On September 1st, we have Labor Day. (To those whose schools start after Labor Day, I apologize.)
September 4th includes Eat an Extra Dessert Day and World Taekwondo Day! So…I guess eat dessert while doing taekwondo?
September 5th is International Day of Charity and National Food Bank Day. Hopefully lots of charities and food banks get the help they need.
September 8th is International Literacy Day! You should therefore spend the entire day reading or else.
September 15th is the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month! Yay! (Mexican Independence Day is on September 16th as well!)
Around September 22nd is the Autumnal Equinox.
Finally, Rosh Hashanah is observed from September 22nd to September 24th 😀

SeadragonGuestI’ve submitted the question thread. It looks like pangolin will be hosting, since nobody else has expressed interest in doing that. I will submit Book of the Month soon.

“In these circumstances I refuse to be depressed. I console myself with the thought that if 25th June is the beginning of winter, at least there is a next summer to which one may look forward. Next summer anything may happen.” –A.A. Milne
“I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.” –Patrick Henry
“A book is a dream you hold in your hand.” –Neil Gaiman
“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” –F. Scott Fitzgerald

SeadragonGuestHere’s the Book of the Month! (Very late, I know).
The Stolen Prince of Cloudburst by Jaclyn Moriarty
Esther is a middle child, content with her life with her two brilliant sisters, her mother (who never really notices her, but that’s fine), her kindly professor father, and her two best friends at her boarding school.
However, she starts being less content when her best friends fail to show up. Where are they? And her new teacher, rumored to be an ogre, makes horrible jokes at her students’ expense and gives Esther only C-minuses, yet nobody seems to want to say that she’s as awful as she is. But Esther is fine.
Then, Esther starts to see dangerous Shadow Mages lurking around her school, and it’s up to her to protect it. And, the sea is becoming dangerous too, flooding and drowning people.
As Esther tries to keep going even when it feels impossible, she realizes that she will have to do something extraordinary to stop these events. But can she, or is she just plain old Esther? And, does she perhaps have dark powers herself? -
