The MaidenGuestThe Beginning
Little town
It’s a quiet village
Everyday, as the one before
Little town
Full of little people
Waking up
To
Say…“Bonjour!”
“Bonjour!”
“Bonjour, Bonjour, Bonjour!”Extremely startled, Moon Wolf jumped at the sudden chorus of hellos.
“W-w-what?” she mumbled, looking all around her.
She appeared to be in the center of a village square, an old fashioned one at that. There was a fountain spraying water beside her, and all around people were greeting each other and setting up for… a market?
Just moments before, Moon Wolf had been doing her own thing inside her home. But then she heard a mystical sounding voice outside. Little town… And so, stepping through her front door, she had found herself by this very nice fountain, no familiar front yard in sight.
“Bonjour, miss,” an old woman said to Moon Wolf, setting up an area with lots of colorful flowers. “Would you like a flower?”
“I um, don’t have anything to pay with,” Moon Wolf said to her.
“Oh, it’s free! A single bloom- here.” She rustled around and then pulled out a red flower. “Careful of the stem, now.”
“Oh, thank you,” Moon Wolf walked forward and took the flower from the old woman.
It was a rose. Red peteled and sharp stemmed, its heady fragrance washed over Moon Wolf.
The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose.
“Well,” Moon Wolf said hastily, looking over the flower. She remembered that line from somewhere, and it made her uneasy. “It’s too beautiful for me to just have, you should sell it…”
Glancing up, she saw that the old woman was nowhere in sight. All the flowers had also vanished.
“Oh, great.” Moon Wolf twirled the rose between her fingers. “Now what?”
She thought about dropping it onto the dusty cobblestones, but something stopped her. Instead, she slipped it into her purple jacket. This is when she noticed her outfit change.
She was wearing a worn blue dress, with a slightly tattered apron around her waist. Her shoes were black and had small buckles on them, white socks also on her feet. It certainly made a fashion statement, with her purple, out-of-these-times jacket, moon pendant, and bright rose sticking out of her pocket. She must’ve been an odd sight, but she didn’t care much.
“Now… what?” she asked again, more slowly. She turned in a tight circle on the spot, looking at everyone in the crowd, for some familiar face.
Plenty of people were here, darting all around, chattering noisily. But nobody seemed to stop and stare at Moon Wolf, they all maneuvered around her. She was starting to feel rather invisible.
Then, across the square and through the curtain of water from the fountain, she saw another girl standing as still as she was, as though out of place and confused. When the girl shifted to the side to avoid a cart rumbling by her, Moon Wolf caught a clear sight of her face. She let out a cry of relief. “Amethyst!”Present: Amethyst, Amity, Coyote, Hawkstar, KatanaLuna, Moon Wolf, WildWolf, unknown OC (8)
