ThalorwimGuestHi guys! Just wondering what the “top” books we are reading are. Basically, I’d like to hear what everyone is reading. 😁

Outskirts of the Galaxyright now, i’m reading cat’s cradle by kurt vonnegut! what’re you reading?
-
ThalorwinGuestI’m currently reading The Book of Stolen Dreams. I forgot who it’s by. 😆

-
LyricGueststill watersI’m reading How to be an Antiracist, Lord of the Flies, and a collection of food-themed poetry:D
-
ThalorwinGuest@Lyric, are you reading the Dog Man Lord of the Flies, or is there another that I didn’t know of?
The other book sounds good! Food themed poetry? Sounds interesting! -
WildWolfGuestI’m reading the False Prince by Jennifer Nielson! I’m really enjoying it so far, it’s one of the few YA books I’ve read this year that doesn’t have a romance subplot! (At least so far.) I like romance, but it gets a bit much. I wonder why so many young adult books are like that…

vice.verses.virtueGuestoodles!
lost to the sands of timeoh my gosh, i was just talking with my best friend about the false prince! it’s such an amazing series. it does have bits of romance in the second and third books, but it’s not the main focus (although the main character’s bond with said romantic interest is part of the main focus, it’s not super lovey-dovey at all. it’s very tastefully done).
i would recommend sticking with it, even with the little romantic bits! i’m not one for romance either, and i found it very enjoyable.

A Celestial Sky@Lyric, I’m also reading Lord of the Flies right now! I’m going to watch a play about it in November, so I’m kind of excited to see what it’s like!
@Thalorwin, the Dog Man Lord of the Fleas book is based off of Lord of the Flies, a novel by William Golding. It’s a bit of a darker novel btw.
Currently, I’m also reading Heart of Thorns by Bree Barton. I’m only at the beginning so far though.
@WildWolf, yeah so many YAs have romance now. Are there any other good YA recommendations that don’t have romance in them? -
ThalorwinGuestI did only know of Lord of the Fleas which I originally thought was a rip off of Lord of the Rings, but now I know!!! 😁
-
Lyric@Moon WolfGuestreadingooh cool! Id like to hear how the play is once you see it (based on scenery descriptions I barely understand, it seems like the geography would be difficult to portray, which would diminish the quality).
I have to write an essay on why Lord of the Flies and other books are generally banned and argue that my English teacher should implement it into his curriculum. So grateful for the chance to read fiction for homework:D

ElsewhereJust finished reading the Wizards of Once series- loved it, but the ending wasn’t as good as I had hoped. Now I’m looking to read the Which Way series (last one before I’ve read everything by Cressida Cowell)

@WildWolfGuestIt's Hawkstar
Ooh I really love the False Prince, and the rest of the series. I just love how clever Sage is, it’s pretty entertaining 😂 you’ve probably seen by now that there is a very faint romance trail in there, but it isn’t really a main focus throughout the series. Let me know how you enjoy the other books as well (if you don’t to read them!)
-
WildWolfGuestYes I am now starting to see that there might be a romance sub-plot later on, but at least it’s not a main focus. I saw the plot twist coming chapters and chapters before it came, which is slightly annoying but I’m still really enjoying the book. Did you find the plot twist to be predictable as well?
