Twilight

by Stephenie Meyer

It's a really good story about loving somone no matter how different you are from each other. It's not just a love story, it's really good. It'ss up there with Romeo and Juliet for romance.

Ohh, a steampunk fad. <3

Random: I love the "vampire romance" *coughcough* in Carpe Jugulum; Vlad becomes obsessed with Agnes because he can't read her mind (thanks to Perdita being there to keep her on track and away from the mind control thing). Oh, and Agnes and Perdita both hate him (one of the only things they've ever agreed about, in fact, although Perdita does find him extremely attractive, though it's made clear that's not the same thing). It reads just like a scathing yet subtle parody of Twilight, except it's like twenty years older. Pratchett's time machine FTW.

(For those who don't know, Agnes Nitt is a witch. Perdita is her alternate personality (the "thin girl" who is inside of every fat girl, along with all the chocolate, apparently). They argue constantly, and more or less loathe each other.

Well said, Mary W.  I am just a little mad that I look at the YA section and there are no books that look good except for the occasional Meg Cabot, Jessica Day George, Tamora Pierce, etc.  I guess I am OK with romance, but on multiple occasions( Bloodhound, Graceling) a good book turned bad because of romance. I guess I like a different kind of romance than others write about, I suppose? I haven't read any vampire romance, honestly, because I don't see too much.  I'm just saying most books in YA(except fantasy) are romance, and it is a bit.... As I say, irritating?   I will say that ,any other things in our culture(perfume, etc.)  are infested with vampires ever since the new movie came out and nothing this big happened when anything else came out.

Plus, I'm a teen and I don't think only about relationships, even though some people have tried to make me.   I'd rather read Fire Bringer and calm down.  I think that I like romance is best if paired with something else.... Like a adventure.

I AM SICK OF EVERYONE TALKING ONLY ABOUT TWILIGHT, TWILIGHT, TWILIGHT!!!!!!!

I think we've had talk about a lot of other things on Chatterbox recently, and not a whole lot about Twilight.

Twilight is not a, never was, and never will be as good as Romeo and Juliet. If you had ever read Romeo and Juliet, you would know that. Romeo and Juliet was written by an incomparable writer who has been called the greatest poet and playwright in Western literature. Stephenie Meyer has nowhere near his ability and I do not believe that she ever will. Get out there and read some real literature, not this mediocre composition.

I would recommend reading something else. Maybe actually read Shakespeare. I don't think people should read this book, and here's why.

In any book you read, at least one part, one idea, will remain with you for the next 20 years. I am not exaggerating. You need to be careful what you let into your mind, especially before you reach the age of 21, which is when the human brain is fully reaches its full capacity of judging ideas. After all, if you let trash into your mind, should you be surprised when you find trash in there?

The following may interest those with Judeo-Christian beliefs.

I don't know how many people realize this, but vampires are actually demons. I believe they are "fallen" men and as demons are fallen angels. Modern culture: good and bad should never be confused. EVER.

For those Christians out there, you know how Christ gave his blood and life so that others might live? Vampires take others' blood and lives so that they, (the vampires) can live. Yeah, I do realize that this is just a book, and it's fantasy, and vampires don't really exist, but why deaden your mind to such symbols of evil so that you don't recognize evil if it does come?

I personally liked the Twilight books (I haven't read the fourth one) but there were times where the romance got a little icky... It's not the best book ever but it's good.

About the Movie:

I personally think Edward is pretty ugly at some parts and Jacob looks better but I still like Ed and Bell instead of Jacob and Bell! Anyway, I wouldn't say that I'm an Edward lover...

PS: New Moon was the worst.

Bella: Edward come back to me. *moan, moan* *weird hyperventilating*

Edward: *comes back after 100000000 years* Oh Bella. I love you so much! You should forgive me and stay with Mr. Awesome.

Bella: Oh la la! Me love Edward *smooch*

I haven't yet read the book, but from what I've heard and from the movie, it doesn't seem very good. I can't say for sure, since I haven't actually read it, but it seems really mushy-gushy and pretty boring. (If anything, Edward is SO not hot.) I can't even BELIEVE that you would say it's as good as Romeo and Juliet! Seriously, comparing Stephenie Meyers to Shakespeare is totally unrealistic.

I've never read Shakespeare but Alexandra S. is right. Shakespeare is one of the greatest writers of all time and saying it's as good as Twilight is a serious wrongdoing.
