Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Literary Crushes
I was reading...

I was reading this blog the other day where someone listed all their literary crushes and I thought I'd do the same. I did more or less the same thing before with my old "Crushes" page, but this is strictly about book characters. Here are mine.

1. *whistlesandlooksaroundtheroom* Aragorn *goesred*

2. Laurie from Little Women. I hated Jo for about three seconds when she refused his offer of marriage. I always thought that, even if they did quarrel, they would make a better couple than her and Mr. Bhear, and him and Amy.

3. Luke Castellan from Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Sadly, I like villains, especially if they semi-reform by the end of the book.

4. Edward Rochester. Even though I don't really like Jane Eyre as a novel, I do think Rochester is an awesome Byronic hero. Same with Heathcliff, but Heathcliff's a little too cruel to everyone to actually like.

The list on the blog I read included Gilbert Bythe from Anne of Green Gables. Somehow, though I've never been able to consider him all that great. He was nice to Anne and all, but he didn't have much character. And he did hang on to her a bit, too.

I TOTALLY agree with this. Gus is- was *sobs*- so great..... WHY, John Green..... WHY????????

(Someone should start a new "Blab about Books" catagory about TFIOS... like therapy or something:)

Jonah Wizard, from The 39 Clues. Feel free to Google Image search him. He's been my invisible friend for almost 4 years now, and I eventually married him October of last year. My most favorite of my literary crushes!

Luke Castellan, from the Percy Jackson series. One of my favorite characters, I LOVED how cool and evil he was. It seemed like the series had too many goody-goodies in it, so Luke was fabulous!

Draco from Harry Potter. He's blonde, which is usually off my style, but I did absolutely adore him for his evil. (I like evil people). I wish he hadn't turned good in the end, though! I suppose he only did it to be on the winning team, so, I suppose he's forgiven.

Teddy from Emily of New Moon. I imagine him black hair, green eyes. Dreamy, and handsome. Though I found a terrible lack of character in him, he was just the lover that every girl wishes to have.

SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT READ ABOVE POST IF YOU HAVE NOT READ ALL THE BOOKS IN THE HARRY POTTER SERIES! Sorry, Blackberry. I had to. I hadn't read the whole Harry Potter series yet, and when read your post, I cried and beat my fists on the ground. I wanted to protect others from the same fate.

In no particular order:

1. Puck from The Sisters Grimm.  I went through this phase when I was ten when he was my only crush.  This was all due to a dream I had after that book where *spoiler alert* he goes into that coma thing.  I dreamt I was Sabrina & because it was all fairy-tale, only true love's kiss could wake him up, so I kissed him and I woke him up.  I was so jealous of Sabrina.  Of course, by the end of the series I got over that and was shipping Sabrina and him SO MUCH.  I was cheering at the very end.  Literally cheering.  I almost went to go find pompoms and everything.  *spoiler over

2. I feel like I had some crush on someone in Percy Jackson, but I honestly can't remember if it was Percy or Nico.  I'm sure it was Nico, because Percy always felt kind of like my brother.   I think it's the water thing.  I've always wanted water-based powers.

3.  Augustus from The Fault in Our Stars.  He's just so intellectual and adorable and I'm about to explode with envy for Hazel although Hazel and Augustus are perfect for each other.  Like gah why do you make such awesome characters John Green?!

4. Stewart from Let it Snow.  He is so awkward and it's adorable.  (If you can't tell, my preferred adjective for my crushes is adorable.  This is because handsome seems outdated, words such as hot and others in that vein that I don't want to try putting past the admins seems too inappropriate, and I always feel like adorable is an amplified version of cute.  Just ask Blu how many times I've gushed to her about people being adorable.)

5. A from Every Day.  My favorite part about this crush is that because he has no set body, it's not like I'm just crushing on him based on my image of him.  It's completely based on his mind.

6. Four from Divergent.  Liked him the whole time, knew his real identity the whole time.  He is the most caring, brave character ever.  I literally wrote in my book journal that I wanted to marry him.

7. Perry from Au Revoir, European Chick and Perry's Killer Playlist.  He's so funny.  I also have a soft spot for musicians.

8. Po from Graceling.  He is so awesome and caring towards Katsa.

9.  In the same vein, Saf from Bitterblue.  I liked the whole seafaring vibe.  *spoiler alert* I'm still not sure how I am with the whole just friends thing at the end because I am such a huge shipper but it also seemed for the best. *spoiler over*

10. Ethan from Beautiful Creatures.  Well, first off, his accent in the movie is to die for.  However, I love how he is so smart and funny and is willing to plunge into the world of the Casters whole-heartedly.

11. Char from Ella Enchanted.  He's just adorable.  No more explanation needed.

12. Oliver from The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight.  He's a smart British kid and the image I have of him in my head just makes it all better.  He's definitely pretty high up there.

13. Zach from Gallagher Girls.  He is a spy.  He is also really sweet.  He also works with Cammie against *spoiler alert* his own mother because he thought it was the right thing to do.*spoiler over*  That takes real courage!

14. Hale from Heist Society.  I love his whole attitude.  He's so witty.

15. Lend from Paranormalcy.  I don't even have a reason for this one.  He's just really awesome.

16.  Nate from You Look Different in Real Life.  At first, I hated him.  Then, as the book went on and we saw all the different sides of him, I started liking him.  I also have to say, I figured out Felix's secret in the very beginning, so he was never an option.

17. Jeffrey from the Penderwicks.  Again with the musician thing.  While there's an age gap in the first few books, he's like my age by the last book I read in that series.

18.  John from A Girl Named Digit.  I just loved how the author turned him from this random guy guarding Digit into such a wonderful character.

19. Jerome or Stephen from The Name of The Star.  The thing with this series is, I always feel like I AM Rory when I read it.  Therefore, my crush from this series is whoever I am shipping more with her, and at this point, I can't even pick one of them.  Why, MJ, why?

20. Park from Eleanor & Park.  I like his whole personality. I also like his devotion to music and comic books.

21. Cricket from Lola and the Boy Next  Door.  He's just adorable.  I don't even know why.

22. Dex from School Spirits.  He is very quirky and awkward, and also witty, which is awesome.  I also just want to hug him after that ending.

23. Dorian or Chaol from Throne of Glass.  Please see The Name of the Star struggle.

24. Derek from The Romeo and Juliet Code.  I feel like he's a lot younger than me, but I don't want to go through my copy just to find out because I don't want to make a book avalanche.  He's very sweet, though.

25.  Owen from Elsewhere.  No explanation for this one.

26. Michael from The Princess Diaries.  He was really my first big literary crush (from the movie since I watched that in like first grade and then the book which I first read when I was like 9) and I don't know why I'm only mentioning him now.  Those books are really what kind of introduced me to what being a teenager would be like and so he was like the quintessential boyfriend to me for years.  I also love how Meg Cabot made him so different and didn't just make Mia fall in love with some jerk of a jock.

27. Ezra from The Beginning of Everything.  I loved his voice throughout the book.

28. Orion from The Chaos of Stars.  Also no explanation.

29. Galen from Of Poseidon. He's a mermaid prince.  How would I not crush on him?

30. Prince Gregory from Gorgeous.  He was a prince, but he was also so down to earth.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\

After rereading the list, I just realized I develop a crush on anyone I ship the main charrie  with.  I think this is because I tend to put myself in the main charrie's shoes when I read, even if it's in first person.

The major ones you should take away from this list: Puck, Augustus, Stewart, Four, Char, Oliver, Lend, Park, Cricket, and Michael.  Those are the only ones I have actually considered as crushes before I went through all of the books in my book journal to find crushes.

Mel made me remember some.

-Char from Ella Enchanted. I haven't read the book, but he's so adorable (Mel made me into an adorable loving monster) in the movie.

-Owen from Elsewhere. HIM AND LIZ ARE SO CUTE AND IDK WHY JUST HIM BEING WITH LIZ MAKES ME LIKE HIM.

-Ethan from Beautiful Creatures. Again, haven't read the book. But he's awesome in the movie.

-Enjolras in Les Miserables. Again, haven't read that monster of a book. I'm just putting him on her because he's played by Aaron Tveit in the movie. He's so handsome, a good singer, and he's just perfect. But he's 30... Seriously, look up his cover of Run Away With Me...NOW.

-Sasha from Anastasia's Secert. Him and Anastasia are so cute, and he's willing to risk it all to save Anastasia and so sweet. But of course, Anastasia dies. It's the Romanov princess. I love her, my favorite princess ever.

1. Laurie from Little Women. Unlike most of you people, I wasn't angry at Jo for not marrying him. They stayed good friends, plus I really like "old bear"

2. Nat from Little Men. He's sooo cute in his actions and very sweet. I also love Demi because of all his questions

3. Leo from 11 Birthdays. Just because.

4. Miles from the Candymakers. I love how weird he is, yet it doesn't stop him from being AWESOME!!! Logans pretty great too.

Theres more, I just can't think of them right now:)
