Lilian and Kiera were discussing something quietly, something about--strange lights?I tried to push myself up, and failed. Lilian didn't want to investigate, which sounded reasonable from her perspective, I suppose, but if only I could get up, I'd be checking it out right now. (((where's Aqua?))) Then, the door opened. Is it the teachers? Maybe it's James and Albus............I thought frantically, trying to get up. Curse that Selwyn girl, and may she die a horrible death, preferably at my hands. Jelly-Legs are quite painful. Then I looked around frantically. I couldn't see Aqua! Where'd she go?! The door opened further, and they came in. (((Who is it? I can't wait to find out! Is it James and Al or is it the teachers? Somebody, come on!)))

((I posted an explanation, but it got zapped. Anyway, he's the mad scientist protagonist from Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, a musical about Dr. Horrible (alias Billy) video-blogs about his adoration for Penny from the laundromat, and his loathing for his nemesis, Captain Hammer, and his hopes of getting into the Evil League of Evil. It's really funny.))

I turned around, and to my amazement saw a House Elf walk through the door. I jogged up to Hazel from were I'd been llooking at things in the back of the room. I touched Hazel lightly, and she jumped.

"Aqua! Were have you been?! You freaked me out!" she said.

"Sorry, Hazel. I saw something in the back of the room and wanted to ckeck it out. Uh, do you have any experiance with House Elfs?" I asked.

"Not really. I've actually never met one. Lillian or Keira might thougth." she said.

I looked up at Lillian and she shook her head.

"No, I've only seen them at a distance. But I hear they're really helpful. Keira, do you know anything?" Lillian turned to her fellow Hufflepuff.

"Yeah, actually my aunt had one when I was 10. They'll do anything you ask them to do. Unless it goes against they're masters."

That was very helpfull. I helped Hazel get to her feet, and looked around for a stick she could lean on. I was about to ask Keira and Hazel is they saw one when Lillian asked the House Elf these question:

"What are you doing here? And what's your name?"

"My name is Hokey, ma'am. And I am here because another young mistriss sadi you was here. She said you was in trouble, but I is seeing no trouble with you ma'am." Hokey answered.

"Was the young mistriss a Slytherin, Hokey?" Hazel asked.

"Yes, ma'am. Isyou hurt ma'am? I can fix that for you." and with that Hokey snaped her fingers and Hazel was free. he staggered a little, then righted herself.

"Thanks, Hokey!" Hazel smiled brightly at her.

"Your welcome, miss."

((sorry guys. I have to go. Anyone can continue!!))

((Is Hokey still alive? She'd be very, very old... And, um, Keira and I are Muggle-born, so I can't imagine that Keira's aunt had one.))

The sudden presence of a strange, batlike creature, was definitely not calming me. My teeth began shaking and I couldn't stop them. All at once I wanted to be home, home with my family, home in my own bed. I wished I'd never heard of Hogwarts. The homesickness suddenly overcame me, and tears sprang to my eyes. Before I knew it, I was crying.

"Is you okay, miss?" Hokey asked obediently.

I tried to smile, but the others now saw my tears. I was sure that they thought me a homesick wimp of some sort. "Yes, I'm fine, Hokey. Thanks for straightening out Hazel."

  "Any time, miss," Hokey said.

Just then the door opened again. I flinched. And winced. And looked straight into the yellow eyes of Argus Filch.

((Ok.))

I was halfway down the secret passage to the dungeons when a house elf bounded into my path. I stopped just short of running into it.

"Oy!" I said, not entirely sure at first what it was. Then I made out the long, thin nose, the large eyes, and ridiculous ears.

"Can I be helping you?" squeaked the elf.

I started to shake my head, but stopped. "Well, there is something... You know the Room of Requirement?"

"Yes, ma'am," he squeaked.

"There're some students there. You might go help them back to their dorms. They're lost, you see."

"Ok!" said the elf happily.

"Are you mad?" hissed Drusilla. "You're helping them now?"

"Hush," I said back. "He'll make a huge noise, bring Filch down on them, and we've been in bed asleep this entire time, remember? They're lost, maybe Lorena was sleepwalking and they followed her. Regardless, they're confused."

"I guess..."

"And they get detention for being up. Come on, let's go."

I flinched as Argus Flint walked in. I would have to try to get us out of trouble, as the others weren't likely to help. I straightened myself and stepped forward. Lilian gasped as I began to speak. "Sir, it was Belinda Selwyns fault. She wouldn't let us go  to our dormitories and dragged us here. When I tried to make her let us go back to our dormitories, she jinxed me. The Jelly-Legs jinx, in fact." I nodded towards the house-elf. "You can ask her if you like. She just healed it, for which I am very grateful." The house-elf, embarrassed, murmured something in denial and shook her head. "They're probably still in the halls at the moment.", Aqua added, coming to my aid. I smiled at her, grateful for her support. I glanced at Lilian and Kiera. Lilian looked terrified, and Kiera not much better. I sighed. "Sir, please beleive us. We're telling the truth!" He looked thoughtful. (((someone else can decide what his decision is! I can't wait to fiind out, but I'm too lazy to do it myself)))

I doubted that those Slytherin girls would likely still be out of bed. And to tell the truth, I was so tired that I didn't care much about detention. Also, I didn't think he'd believe us. I just watched him.

Finally he came to his decision. "That may be," he wheezed. "But you are still out-of-bounds after bed."

"B-but - " Keira began. "We were just - "

"Be quiet!" he snapped. I saw the yellowish glint in his eyes, clearly trying to come up with the nastiest punishment.

"And whatever the circumstance," he said gleefully, "that still merits a detention. Back to bed, all of you. Your Heads of House will arrange your detentions by owl tomorrow morning."

I overslept the next morning, which meant I was late coming down for breakfast. Luckily Keira had saved me a seat.

"Thanks," I said, sliding into the seat she offered me.

"Here," she said, handing me an official-looking letter. "We're to do our detentions tonight, eight o' clock sharp."

I gulped. I had a fear of the dark that would be hard to conquer. "Does it tell what we're doing?"

"No," Keira said. "But it can't be that bad, I mean, we're only first and second years, they won't be too hard on us..." I heard the doubt in her voice.

Belinda Selwyn walked past our table, smirking. "Busy tonight?"
