Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Twilight
Okay, guys.  I...

Okay, guys.  I know a lot of people love Twilight *rolls eyes* but I am inclined to stay by my descision.

Twilight is probably the worst book that ever hit the earth.  I just don't get the fact why anybody would want to read it.  I mean, come on!  A 108-year-old guy marrying an 18-year-old girl.  (Or dating.  I really don't care.  It's all the same to me!)  But if you like it, please give me some very good reasons.  Maybe I might concede and agree with you.  But you've got to stop going on and on until you give a very good reason!

@ TNO (umlaut!!): Smeyer likes to write about "pretty things"? Such as, um, vampires, right.

Smeyer is a member of a religion where vampires are taboo? WHAAT? Back up a little... what religion is this? And what is "PETA"?

Also... if Smeyer was so "close" to her English teacher, maybe she could have requested some personal help???

@ Phoenix: Smeyer couldn't have done anything else with her life? Hmm... she probably could have had a very successful career in any field that doesn't require much thinking or strong knowledge of the English language.

Oops... did I just say that out loud?

She's Mormon, but I don't think we should hold that against her, because just because the Mormon religion doesn't like vampires doesn't mean every individual of the Mormon religion can't write about vampires. Generalizations. Stereotypes. Although it IS ironic.

She's Mormon; hence, BYU. Mormons - and most other religions, really - as a general rule think vampires are not to be glorified.

PETA = People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals...

Well, I think it's OK if people like the book. (not obsessed just think it's good) Because if everyone was the same, the world would be boring. How would you like to see a hockey game, with both teams exactly the same? The game would go into overtime. No one would win! People being different, it makes the world exciting. So it's ok if people have different thoughts.

I totally agree about the reread and never read anything else again thing.  My brother Charley B read it about 2-3 weeks ago and hasn't read anything since.  He's read like, 12 times now.

To quote a TS slogan,

"Loving Twilight does /not/ mean shunning decent literature."

Also, "Twilight: ruining healthy relationships since 2005", but that's an entirely different matter. o_O

I have too read other books: I am currently in the process of reading Voices by Ursula Le Guin!  Also, I have only read Twilight once and I've only read the other 3 twice. Charley

Also, for fans of Twilight, go to my "Twilight Series" thread, or, for Twilight roleplaying, go to my new thread, "Twilight Roleplay." (only once it gets posted.)

Nightie, if you keep lieing about me, I'll tell everyone your real name!

Haha, well, I'm joining as a (semi-traditional) Dhampir vampire-slayer, with a 451-esque kerosene hose built by Ray Bradbury and I. *shrug* Dunno if I'll have any sparklepires to slay, though.

A few things, bro.

1: You mean "Lying" not "Lieing".

2: I am HAWKstar, not NIGHTstar.  That was a messup.

3: You called me Nightie.  Never, EVER call me Nightie, Hawkie, or ANYTHING else offenseive!  If you do, I'll create a new thread that say

CHARLEY IS CHARLEY THE UNICORN!  CHARLEY BIT ME!

Not really, I am lying 'bout those things, but I WILL post it...If you force me too.   Watch your step, brother. *Hisses and scratches charleys throught.  Charley runs away.*

Notice how much you can get away with insulting your siblings... if Hawkstar threatened me like that, the Administrators would probably delete her post, but since Chrley's her brother it's okay. Hmm... mabe my siblings should join this site...

@ Mary: *gets grow-rays and shines it on younger sibling so that she can come on Cricket's Chatterbox.* (She's only 6.)

I personally like the Twilight books, but I'm not obsessed or anything. I am a fantasy-lover, and the Twilight series is a fantasy series, so I liked it.
