Chapter 1

A howling gale shrieked and wailed across the field, but still, a lone figure sped rentlessly, calling out, "Azdol!" No voice returned the cry, yet Kana raced on, pausing every so often to sniff the air for scents. Scents of Azdol.

"Come back!" Kana stopped. "Come back!" It was Neqar. He halted in front of Kana, panting heavily. "Azdol is gone, and he isn't coming back." Neqar stated grimly. "There's no point in chasing after him." Kana swished her tail angrily. "He wouldn't run away like that." she retorted. "Somecat would have to have kidnapped him."

Neqar shook his head. "I don't care if some crazy cat captured him. He left without a trace, so there's no point in searching for him. You heard the Tribe Council." Kana felt tears prick her eyes. "You don't understand," she sniffed. Before Neqar could say anything to comfort her, Kana stormed of to the Shelter.

...

Kana was greeted with questions thrown at her from left and right, but she shrugged them off and padded to her den. Right as she reached the entrance, Neqar stopped her in her tracks.

"What do you want?"  Kana muttered gruffly. Neqar dipped her head respectfully. "I wanted to apologize for being harsh earlier. It's just..." His voice trailed off uncomfortably. "Go on," Kana urged. Neqar hesitated, then hurried words tumbled out like water from a waterfall. " I'm afraid of the Council." Kana eyed him skeptically. "Is this true?" she asked him. Neqar nodded hastily. "Whatever." Kana slid into the ferns.

Thats all for now folks! Bye!

Continuation of Chapter 1:

Kana was dreaming. Mist swirled around her, hiding the source of voices that called out to her. "Kana..." they moaned. "Help us Kana..." Kana ran in the direction the voices seemed to be coming from, but she saw nothing but mist. "Where am I?" she cried, panic-stricken. The voices didn't reply.

Kana woke up, her breath coming out in ragged gasps. A faint breeze stirred the ferns overhead. Through the gaps in her den, Kana saw winking at her through the trees. She sighed. I wish Azdol were here. Kana thought. The cold talons of sadness gripped her heart, causing tears to slip from her eyes and to the ground. She closed her eyes to stop the flood, but with no success.

"There, there."  The sound of a comforting voice opened Kanas' eyes. Her mother, Ronu, was lying at the entrance of her den. Kana squeezed her eyes shut and resumed crying. I don't care if I'm blubbering like a lost kit. she thought. I want Azdol.

"Hush," cooed her mother. "I miss Azdol too." Ronu crawled into her daughters' den and began to wash her. "I want Azdol back." Kana whimpered. Ronu didn't reply.
