Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Twilight: Why?
Now, I know...

Now, I know what you're all probably thinking: "WHUT? TNO made a TWILIGHT thread?!?!?!"

Well, yes. Yes I did.

It's not about Twilight itself, however, what I want to know is /why/ people like the series. So I'd like fans of the series to post here and explain why they like the books.

We've already got plenty of discussion threads for the books themselves, so I'd ask that we try 'n' keep discussion of the story itself on those threads.

Also, please come up with better reasons than "Edward is HAWT!!!11apple1" or somesuch.

Assuage my curiosity now, pls?

Um, I probably shouldn't be posting since I haven't read the books, but I did see the movie, so... Anyway, it looked from the movie like they mangled it some. And I've heard that in the book, it was less weird because it moved slower (Bella and Edward had more time to get to know each other, etc.). But I still think the hotness of Edward & Company is a major part of why the books are so popular (but not nearly so much among guys... hmm...) since the plot isn't exactly gripping.

Hi, Holly! Glad you've been coming on! Are you enjoying the Chatterbox? Anyway. Right. Twilight. Today, I went to Target, and guess what I saw in the girls' clothing section? a) a shirt that said "Every girl needs her vampire", and b) a shirt that said "Forget about being a princess, I'd rather be a vampire". Twilight influence? More than likely. I was soo mad that they made T-SHIRTS with TWILIGHT THEMES!!!!!

Why DO people like Twilight (other that Edward's hotness which doesn't exist)? Honestly, I don't see how anyone could like Twilight. I certainly don't!

I was watching a vid of my favorite Muse song, "Time Is Running Out," (Muse is a band with a song on the beloved Twilight soundtrack) and someone posted a comment that comparing Twilight to Muse is like comparing getting trampled by a stampede of horses to having a Swedish massage. I AGREE COMPLETELY!!!

Edward's not hot, and for anyone who is planning on watching New Moon when it comes out, DON'T! I'd love to see it fail so the others won't be made! OK, maybe I'm taking this a little too seriously...oh well...

to Jenni: I saw a shirt that said "I kissed a vampire and I liked it" with the guy that played Edward's face on it. Eww.

Shirts I've seen with Twilight themes:

"Are you afraid?"

"I don't want to be a monster."

"I dream of being with you forever."

And a backpack (WHAT???!! BACKPACKS???!!) saying, "What if I'm not the hero?" I think on the inside it said something like, "What if I'm the villain?" or something to that accord.

I've seen a few more shirts, but none are coming to mind.

@ Willa: Doubly bad- not only does that endorse Twilight, it also is a reference to that horrible, terrible song by Katy Perry (did I spell her last name correctly?).

And the other one that wasn't coming to my mind was a sweatshirt reading, "And so the lion fell in love with the lamb..." Bleh.
