Oh, you know, it's okay, good original plot, nice writing, etc., but the villains are flat snd predictable. Like, Capricorn? Downright amusing. Too easy to figure out. Very little motivation.

Cornelia Funke is not my favorite author; she's merely average in my book.

I completely agree with you - on Inkheart. The other books (Inkspell, Inkdeath) WAY better! The villains were MUCH more complex, and much more interesting. I love those last two books!

It's okay. I ENOY people consistently pretending that Capricorn was a good villain. Haha. Not.

;) S'kay.

As I said before, if you think Capricorn's shallow or predictable, it might just be Cornelia Funke saying that Fenoglio isn't the best author in the world. But I didn't notice Capricorn's predictability (besides the fact that he's an incredibly typical villain). What made it stick out to you? I thought all the characters were well-turned-out--especially Dustfinger....:):):):)

It's true what you say about Fenoglio, but that would be contradictory on CF's part, because in Inkheart when Fenoglio writes that part for the evil shadow monster, he does a good job and does it well, the way a serious writer would. And we hear that when Meggie's dad read the story, it was captivating. Naturally his voice influenced that, but it also had to be a good story. And as you said, Fenoglio did a fine job with characters such as Dustfinger. Therefore, the way I see it, the incompetence is on CF's part.

I very much agree with you about the other characters, though; they were all very good. Elinor was awesomely well done, as was Dustfinger. Farid was spectacular. Meggie and her dad weren't quite as good as the others, but were still nicely done.

You're welcome! Did you see the movie? I haven't, but it's supposed to be terrible (it got about one and a half stars or something.) I'd have to say my favorite characters were Dustfinger, Farid and Elinor, in that order. How many of the books have you read? :):):)
