Isn't the Blab

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

?????
Isn't the Blab...

Isn't the Blab about Books about DIFFERENT books? I like to come here, but the only thing I really see is Twilight, Harry Potter, and Warriors. Some people do write other stuff, but we should STOP putting down more than one Harry Potter thread, or Twilight, and Warriors. (unless they're just getting too long!)

I agree. There is way to much popular book discussion here. What about the authors nobody knows about, but are really good? I love Hilari Bell, who nobody that I know of has even heard of (besides the librarian). And what about the classics? I love Jane Austen's wittiness, and there are only two books by her that I haven't read (I intend to change that!) and I am halfway through "The Three Musketeers" by Alexandre Dumas (Jenni, if you are reading this, remember in "Fire and Hemlock" she was wondering why they spelled "Alexander" wrong? ;D;D) which is laugh-out-loud funny, with great characters and true history. Richard Peck is an amazing author--I doubt in a hundred years I would forget HIS characters. ;);) And then there is a book that I am reading right now--"The True Adventures of Charley Darwin" by Carolyn Meyer--that reads like fiction and portrays the YOUNG Darwin, not even getting into the white-bearded man who is what most people think of when they hear the name Darwin. I would strongly suggest that book to everyone. There are so many books out there--why discuss only three?

Ah, yes, Alexandre Dumas.  I haven't read it though. The Dumas Quartet, too! I love Brian Jaques, Ursula Le Guin, and, *gasps* Richard Peck! I have and love A Year Down Yonder, especially the girl's grandmother! Also, Jane Austen, Robert Jordan, Kathryn Lasky, Tad Williams, DWJ, Haddix, Sheakespeare (well duh who doesn't?), and many, many, more. Ah, yes, Creech, Roald Dahl, Kate DiCamillo (she wrote Because of Winn-Dixie and The Tale of Desperaux and Tiger Rising), Robert A. Hienlien, Michael Ende (who wrote The Neverending Story and Momo, very good books, I reccomend both of them), J.R.R. Tolkien, and many, many, more! I should make a thread for must-read books!

Actually, we used to be vaguely overrun by Twilight, but not so much anymore. As for HP, we only have a reasonable one or two threads, which I think is acceptable. It's WARRIORS that I think is going way overboard- there are only a few elite threads NOT including weird names and overexcitement about cats. I understand two or three, but eight is a little much, no?
