The Wheel of

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan
The Wheel of...

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. What was, what sill be, adn what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time.

As is written on the back covers of all of the books in the series. This series by Robert Jordan is a classic.

A summary of the first book:

One year at Bel Tine in the Two Rivers, four strangers are gathered there. One, a strange man in black whose face is hidden in his hood yet all who see him are afraid and sense his hatred, a Myrdraal, whose only purpose is to serve the Dark One. The second, a gleeman with colourfully patched cloak, stories, music, ballads, acrobatics, and magic tricks up his sleeve, such as producing things out of thin air, or rather his large sleeves. The other two, an Aes Sedai and her Warder, Moraine and Al'Lan Mandoragon. When the village is attacked by Trollocs, Rand Al'Thor, Perrin Aybara, and Matrim Cauthon must all flee with Moraine and Lan for the safety of the village, for it is they that the Dark One's servants seek. When they are found departing the village by Egwene Al'Vere, the daughter of the Mayor, and the gleeman, Thom Merillin, they are taken along so they will not tell the others of the village of their departure. When they reach their first stop, the Wisdom of the Two Rivers, Nynaeve Al'Meara, finds them and tries to convince them to go back to the village. When she finds that they will not return, she goes along with them to watch over them. After they leave Baerlon, they are attacked once more by Trollocs, and are forced to flee to a place so evil that even Myrdaals and Trollocs fear to enter. However, the Myrdraals and Trollocs overcome their fear and enter the city, and the companions are seperated. Perrin and Egwene

We'll toss the dice however they fall,

and dance with the girls be they short or tall,

then follow Lord Mat whenever he calls,

to dance with Jak o' the Shadow.

The theme song of the Band of the Red Hand.

"It's time to toss the dice."

Mat

"Sheepherder"

Min

"However you teach it, a pig will never play the flute."

Thom. (I'm not sure about the accuracy of that one, I'll check it, ok?)

"Bloody dice."

Mat

"A beautiful battle is one you don't have to fight."

Mat

"I won, Toy."

Tuon

"Matrim bloody Cauthon is my husband. That is the wording you used, am I correct?"

Tuon (haha I love that one)

Mat and Tuon are my favourite characters, as you might be able to tell.

Mat and Tuon= perfect match! <3

Heh, that's odd, my summary got cut off in an odd place! I'll  continue it here.

Perrin and Egwene end up swimming across the river so they're on the opposite bank from the others. They wander a hundred miles north of their destination and run into Elyas, a wolf-person, and his wolf pack. Elyas tells Perrin that he, too, can talk to the wolves. Perrin is afraid and tries to deny it, but soon his eyes turn into yellow wolf eyes just like Elyas's. They flee from the DO's spies only to be captured by Whitecloaks for being in the company of wolves. Hopper is killed defending Perrin, and is skinned and made into a rug for the Commander of the Light.

Rand, Mat, and Thom go down the Caemlyn Road, but they are attacked by Myrdraal in a village and Thom sacrifices himself for them, holding back the Myrdraal  long enough for him to escape. The two boys eventually arrive at Caemlyn at last, and Rand meets an Ogier at their inn, while they are waiting for their compainions to catch up. They refuse to admit that the others might be dead.

Lan, Moraine, and Nynaeve first set out to rescue Perrin and Egwene, then go to Caemlyn where they find Rand and Mat waiting for them.

and so on........if you want to know the rest then read the books! The first book: Eye of the World.

And here is more from Mat and Tuon:

Mat: Call me Mat.

Tuon: Your name is Matrim. What do you mean?

Their final words (after Tuon proclaims her marriage to Mat)

Mat: The next time I see your people again, it will probably be on a battle field somewhere. You're not my enemy, but your Empire is.

Tuon: Nor are you my enemy, husband, but I live to serve my Empire. (she's the heir to the throne)

Mat: Well, I suppose you'd better get your things..........

Haha! Mat loves Tuon and Tuon only married him to aid her Empire! Tuon only sees him as a tool! Tuon calls Mat either Matrim, or Toy! I feel sorry for Mat. But Tuon is funny, too! She thinks Mat is a buffoon then sees him with his army and her opinion changes drastically.

More WoT couples:

Perrin and Faile

Rand, Avhienda, Elayne, and Min. (all three love him and he loves all three as well)

Egwene and Gawyn

Nynaeve and Lan

Nynaeve and Lan get married! Nynaeve is always biting Lan's head off! Lan would put his own life on the stake to save Nynaeve! haha yeah.
