A survey to all readers! Just for fun, answer these questions:)

A: Who is favorite author ?(or one of them, if you're like me)

B: Name one good book you have read this year.

C: What is your favorite quote from a book?

D: What book do you recommend for CBers?

Ok, here's mine:
A: this is a hard quest... I guess Ruta Sepetys

B: Counting by 7s - Holly Goldberg Sloan

C: "Truth is a terrible and wonderful thing and therefore must be treated with caution.

D: I would say The Books of Elsewhere/Jaqueline Kelly

It's a fantasy sereies about a girl named Olive who moves into a big old house and finds its full of  magic. There are magical paintings, talking cats, and lots of adventures.

Have fun!!

this is so neat!

A: Hmmm... Well, I'm gonna say Grace Lin. She's one of them.

B: Red Queen, by Victoria Aveyard

C: "Not all those who wander are lost" - J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring, Lord of the Rings.

D: I recommend Pax, by Sara Pennypacker. It is kinda of sad, so if you don't like sad books, this might not be for you. I still loved it, and I think you all should read it. It's about a boy and a fox, and the story switches between their perspectives.

I like things like this, where we can recommend books to people, and they have the option to read it or not.

A. Rick Riordan, Sarah J. Maas, Suzanne Collins

B. Throne of Glass

C. "We all bear scars... mine just happen to be more visible than others."

D. I would say The Honest Truth

It's about a boy named Mark who runs away to climb a mountain. His cancer came back and he doesn't want to go through treatment again. He takes his dog, Beau, and leaves a note to his best friend Jessie.

I really like that quote Ghost Queen! What book is it from??

I haven't read The Honest Truth but it sounds a LOT like My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George. I don't know if you are interested, but you might like it. It is about a boy who runs away from home and lives in the wild. He gets a pet hawk and makes friends and no one knows where he is and didn't think he could do it. It is very wonderful writing, and an amazing story! =)

Thank you for the suggestions!

A. RJ Anderson.

B. Savvy by I Don't Remember.

C.  "Money lost, little lost.  Honor lost, much lost.  Hope lost, all lost." Traveling Shoes.

D. Ummmm...Crossover, by Kwame Alexander.  It's not a fantasy novel, but a basketball verse novel, which gives it a dreamish quality.  Highly recommend.

Good idea!

A: Who is favorite author ?(or one of them, if you're like me)

I love Rick Riordan and Wendy Mass, but in the past few weeks I've been really enjoying books by Morgan Matson, they're quite good.

B: Name one good book you have read this year.

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson is the first one that comes to mind. :)

C: What is your favorite quote from a book?

Lots of Percy Jackson quotes are pretty hilarious.. I like when they say they drowned in a bathtub.. a very big bathtub xD. As for inspirational quotes, I know this isn't originally from a book, but it's my absolute favorite quote and it is in 365 Days of Wonder. "Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there's footprints on the moon." :)

D: What book do you recommend for CBers?

If you haven't read Series of Unfortunate Events, read it now. See You at Harry's, Keeper of the Lost Cities, Fablehaven, the classic fantasy/science fiction like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and The Hunger Games, Since You've Been Gone, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (more for little kids, but one of my favorites), Wonder, A Mango Shaped Space, etc etc etc etc...

LEMONY SNICKET

I love him how could I forget Lemony Snicket?

submitted by Savvy44x
(March 20, 2017 - 9:40 am)

-A. Ohhh, where do I start? :D Let's see... L. M. Montgomery, Brandon Mull, Jenny Nimmo, Rick Riordan, Patrick Carman, Chris d'Lacey, Shelby Bach, Louisa May Alcott, J. R. R. Tolkien, Heather Vogel Frederick, Tamora Pierce, J. K. Rowling, Susan Cooper, Christopher Paolini, Tui T. Sutherland, Lemony Snicket, aaand more... I know I forgot a few... Anyways, my favorite "classic" or "old-fashioned writer" is... umm... tough choice... L. M. Montgomery, and AAAGH even MORE of a touch choice for the more recent one... um... either Heather Vogel Frederick, Brandon Mull, (Fablehaven is one of the best series's I have ever read, and it's honestly my favorite of all his books, although the others are good too), or Wendy Mass (I know I didn't mention her but I have read most of her books and they are good). Wow, sorry, that was long!

-B. Does it count if it's a re-read? If so, Emily of New Moon. If not, the Prydain Chronicles (AAGH I FORGOT LLOYD ALEXANDER).

-C. "It is our choices, Harry, that show us who we truly are, far more than our abilities..." Second favorite: "Not all those who wander are lost."

-D. FABLEHAVEN. No other words required.

A: J.R.R. Tolkien. Also Jane Austen. Also T. H. White, and Susanna Clarke, and Lloyd Alexander, and G. K. Chesterton, and a number I don't have off the top of my head. Does that mean they don't count as "favorite authors"? Likely not.

B: Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel by Susanna Clarke. It's an alternate history/fantasynovel. Clarke's dark and eerie story is imbued with humor that accuratley affects the reality of human life. Personally, I don't find direct, slapstick humor to be anywhere as amusing as humor ingrained in the text. Clarke is funny because of the way she states facts and presents situations, and because most facts and situations are funny, even if dark and dangerous.

C:I do have a store of quotes in my head somewhere, but not word for word. I'll have to go back and find them again! Or use the internet. The internet is a thing.

D: Hmmmmmm... Anne of Green Gables. The Chronicles of Prydain. The Lord of the Rings. Peter Pan. The Mysterious Benedict Society. The Rosemary Spell. And Then There Were None and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.

For older CBers, I'd recommend The Once and Future King by T.H. White, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel by Susanna Clarke, The Silmarillion by J.R.R Tolkien, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, and Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier.

Me neither! I mean, I've never met another Tamora Pierce fan! What books of hers have you read?

Hmm...let's see... The Song of the Lioness Cycle? I think that's what it's called... did not like it very much, though I have to admit that they were well-written. They nearly spoiled me for all Tamora Pierce books, and then I found the Circle of Magic books...

-Circle of Magic -The Circle Opens -The Will of the Empress -ANND OF COURSE... *dramatic pause* the new book which is ONLY OUT IN AUDIOBOOK FORM!!!!! Melting Stones! From the point of Evvy! I think it's at the same time as The Will of the Empress. I mean set at the same time.

I haven't read anything else by her, but I now when I want to, there's more of her books to read... I must say though, this series of hers is my favorite. I STILL haven't read Magic Steps :( BUT I finally listened to Sandry's Book...I think my favorite is either Daja's Book or Tris's Book...

Okay, so a chronic book disease that I have is that with new series's, it is most common for me to find the second book, and then to read the rest of the series, and then YEARS LATER find the first book and finally get some of the jokes and understand the backstory... case in point Sandry's Book, Magic Steps, The Fairy-Tale Detectives, Peter and the Starcatchers, The Mother-Daughter Book Club, The Fire Within... seriously, this happens with almost EVERY book series I've read... I THINK Fablehaven is one of the few series I've actually read properly from the beginning to the end... I CANNOT WAIT FOR DRAGONWATCH TO COME TO MY LIBRARY!
