Oh my gosh,

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Gone With the Wind!!! :-(
Oh my gosh,...

Oh my gosh, that was the saddest book I've ever read.  I cried so hard at the end.  The book started out happy, but got gloomier as you made your way through the 1024-page book.  Here's a summary of why I cried so much:  (If you plan on or are reading this book, read no further.) (Scarlett is the main character.)

1. Her husband dies, though she doesn't love him very much.

2. She has his kid though she doesn't want to.

3. She can't go to dances or balls because she's supposed to be mourning her husband.

4. She loves a different girl's husband.

5. There's a siege in Atlanta (which is where they're living) and she has to nurse dead and dying men.

6. She remarries and has an ugly baby.

7. The girl whose husband she still loves has a baby.

8. Her husband dies in the Ku Klux Klan.

9. Her sweet, tender, loving mother dies of illness.

10. Her father goes crazy, thinking the mother, Ellen is still alive and yells, "Watch me take this one, Ellen" as he jumps a fence, breaks his neck and dies.

11. She marries another guy named Rhett and has a darling little girl named Bonnie.

12. She doesn't know she loves him and is mean to him, though he loves her.

13. He spoils Bonnie and gets her a pony which she learns to jump with.

14. She yells, "Watch me take this one, Mommy!" to Scarlett, and then breaks her neck and dies.

15. The girl's husband who she loved dies and she realizes she doesn't love him anymore.

16. She wants Rhett now but he leaves her and she's all alone with nobody.
