Chatterbox: Blab About Books

This is a great book to understanding autistic people and how they really aren't that different from other people.  Basically, they're just in their own little world with minds that can do better at some things than normal people.  For example, this guy can memorize over 5 different languages!  And to him, everything has a special color, shape, or texture.  Like 4 is a shy quiet number to him.  Others are lumpy like porridge or falling snow.  A very good book.

Oh, I read this! It was really interesting, from a psychological and mathamatical perspective as well. Parts of it were very sad, others seemed controversial, but it was all a good book. I love the chapter where he just describes his synesthesia (sp?). People should read this book.

I have synesthesia. (I'm not autistic). The number four is a pale pink, smooth like the petals of a flower and is very mopey. Seven is bright green, slippery, sneaky and a suck-up. For more info on synesthesia, read A Mango Shaped Space.

My grandfather has this book, and I think he said it's good. I'm glad for any book that puts autism in a positive spin, because my sister has autism.
