*Sighs*

I've never come across a book that is bad.

But I think this book is TERRIBLE.

Besides the characters, everything is BAD.

*SPOILERS* *EVEN THOUGH YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T READ THE BOOK*

So this guy named Gen is in the king's prison because he stole the king's ring or something (it was pretty vague, so I'm not sure what actually happened) and the king's scholar, the Magnus, wants Gen to steal this mythological rock that's really important to the history of Eddis (I think that's the name of the country that they're in...) because of the customs of Attollia (That's the other country) and why Attollia can't choose a new queen because of it.  Half the book was spent killing me with boredom by reciting the same thing (travelling) over and over again.  I'm only just getting into the more interesting part.

*SPOILERS ENDING*

I regret reading this book...

Yes I totally agree! It's not well written at all. The end is kinda sucky too.

Err, this is a bit old, but oh well. I couldn't resist, as I haven't met anyone who has read this. I picked up this book through Booktube, and it was the kind of book that I read before bed to calm down. Not really any adventure, and the plot was sort of... lacking. I think the author just wrote a classic adventure-ish story, and it kind of follows along many tropes and cliches. The ending seemed to me like the author just thought, "Oh, I should add a plot twist and give the book some individuality!" The religiously important rock and the conflicts and misunderstanding between the countries seemed like the author took the situation in Jerusalem, Israel and then created a slightly different story. There weren't many clues in the story to indicate the ending, and it seemed like it was all packed in at the very end.

SPOILERS

At the end, Gen basically reveals that he isn't really poor and is in fact royalty just pretending to be poor. He sort of complains about being forced to chew with his mouth open and 'act poor'. Their companion sort of betrays the group, and Gen says he knew along that the guy wasn't loyal (forgot his name) because apparently he thinks that one spy can recognise another. I thought it was really cliche, especially with the whole "embracing your gods to be the chosen one to pass through the nightmare maze thing".
