Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Question About DWJ
It seems like...

It seems like the few people who have read books by this author all really enjoyed them, so I thought I might want to read a few, but when I went to the library, the blurbs weren't very clear on what they were about, and I wasn't sure what to check out first, so I ended up not getting any. Those of you who've read her books, which would you reccomend reading first? And what what would that book be about, anyway?

Yes, I hear everyone ranting about her but I'm not sure what her books are about. However, I think that the two major DWJ fans are off for a while because they're at camp or something for the summer...

So I can't help, but you're not alone in the whole being oblivious about DWJ thing. :/

I'm not sure either. I think Jenni's still around though... she's dumped tea on people's heads on the MuseBlog lately so she can't be too cut off from the internet.

If you mean Martia and Jenni, yes they are off at camp, but there are THREE major DWJ fans, including me! They are about magic, and faraway lands, where people with nine lives, called Chrestomanci, try to control the mayhem of magic. They are very descriptive, more so then the Harry Potter series, for if you like those, you'll love these! *bows to Diana Wynne Jones* Want to know more? :)

No the MAJOR fans are Aliza and I, because we have read the most of her books and thus are even more obsessed than you and Martia. (whom I almost called Martian!) I recommend Howl first, then The Game, then whatever you choose to read next!

Which book would you reccomend reading first, Holly? If I can't find it, I'll tell you...

Um...... Probably Howl's Moving Castle, and The Castle in the Air.

The only ones I've read are the Chrestomanci Quartet. Very good - try them.

Huh? *ransacks brain* I know the Danmark Quartet and the Chrestomanci Chronicles, but there's no Chrestomanci Quartet. Which one are you reffering to?

Heh heh... I went to the library and there was only one of her books left. I decided to get it. It was called The Pinhoe Egg. Anyone read it? I haven't, yet, but I will when I finish the book I'm currently reading - which means sometime today. However, The Pinhoe Egg is a bit long, so I shouldn't finish it until tomorrow.

Pinhoe Egg-I have it! It's the latest book in the Chrestomanci Chronicles, so if you want you could read the rest of that series. Charmed Life, The Lives of Christopher Chant, The Magicians of Caprona, Witch Week, and Conrad's Fate. Then there's an extra book of short stories in the Worlds of Chrestomanci, called Mixed Magic, which I got in Japan (and am not sure if you can get it here.). DWJ ROX!!!

I plan to read the rest of the series. And I got Mixed Magics from the library - I guess that means it's available in the U.S. - but I haven't read it yet, and I got about 10 other books, so I don't know when I'm going to be able to post about it.

Yay! I just read Mixed Magics! It's great!

Right-o! You are quite welcome to join the DWJ rp, in Martia's place. (last she told me, she was quitting it, I think..)

Okay! Although *thinks* it might be a bit easier if I read a few more of her books first. Howl's Moving Castle, for instance. Oh well. I'm going to read A Tale Of Time City soon, as soon as I finish what I'm currently reading.
