That book is really funny! :)

I love this book!

I own Catherine Called Birdy (literally, the character can go a little "birdy" as far as most princesses go). I've read it a couple times and I liked it fairly well. As far as most princesses go, walking in mud and helping peasants and hanging around peasants in not very princessy, right? That's why I liked the book. It wasn't fairy-tale-ish but more of a hard-core medieval princess trying to escape the evil grasp of her father trying to practically sell her off to some filthy rich man, no matter how badly he treats her book. Her father just wants there to be more money in the name of his family. If both man and woman say "I do" and the marriage ceremony is complete and there is no divorce, both husband and wife are entitled to any money either of them has... so, "Birdy" is trying to turn down the richest man her father could find and nothing seems to faze him... I'm not saying any more for those who haven't read the book through, or haven't even read it yet.

Yeah, it's HILARIOUS!!!!! And yeah, Cathy is definitely birdy!!! But her father isn't the king, and she's not a princess!!! Her father is a poor drunken nobleman, and she's just a Lady. But yeah, it was really funny.

OOH THAT'S A GOOD BOOK!!!!!!!!!  I really liked it!!!  Actually, thank you, I've been trying to remember its name for a while!!  :)
