Skulduggery Pleasant
Wow.These bo ...

Wow.

These books were recommended to me by my friend Tommy a few months ago, but I sort of put off reading them... A talking skeleton? Huh? Why would I read about a talking skeleton? Does that even make sense? But since then my reading tastes have changed considerably, and I found the first Skulduggery Pleasant in Barnes and Noble. And my immediate reaction was Awesome. I read a chapter, and I bought the book and finished it in two days (even reading under the covers with a flashlight- they're rather lengthy, and I was savouring it).

The series is about yes, a talking skeleton, Skulduggery Pleasant, and a twelve-year-old girl, Stephanie Edgley/Valkyrie Cain. They are amazingly written and quite funny. The characters are excellent. My description, which is awful, makes them sound completely insane (they are, but in a good way) and totally stupid, but they're not. I wholeheartedly recommend them.

Read the first one. It was very good, above-decent plot, awesome characters (I mean, what's not to like about a flame-throwing, talking skeleton and a *gasp* non-angsty teenager? Hm?)... Need to get my hands on the second one.

Anyway, yes, I highly recommend.

Et moi! I loved the first one: it was both original, gripping, and Skulduggery is awsome. His arrogance, so great... "Of course I'm right. I'm me."

It's always MaryLizW, TNÖ, and me these days, isn't it?
