Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Frindle
I just got...

I just got this book from the library. It's aimed at kids significantly younger than I am, I think, but I read this excerpt that was on the back and had to check it out: "From this day on and forever, I will never use the word pen again. Instead, I will use the word frindle, and I will do everything possible so others will, too." So I'm not actually finished with the book yet, but the concept intrigues me. Partly because it's the sort of thing I would do, although I wouldn't go to the lengths the character does and get in trouble for it. Anyone else read this book? By the time this gets posted, I'll probably be done with it. :D

I liked it! It's funny. (If anyone cares, my 8 year old brother liked it, too. :)

It's definitely for younger kids, but I enjoyed it anyway. :) Then my friend and I tried to get everyone to say "gese" instead of "yes." *grins* Good times.

Gese means yes? Awesome! How is it pronounced? (I've got to read this).

*grins* I'll have to tell Gianna that someone is finally interested in our evil plot. ;) "Gese" (pronounced JEE-say) is derived from an Old English word meaning "so be it." It's been obsolete for *counts centuries* a really long time.

And yes, you should read Frindle. There's even an evil teacher (so it would appear). Evil teachers are fun to read about. Not so fun to expeience. But I digress. It's a great book.

Ms. Granger wasn't evil! She was awesome! *death glare*

...It was Granger, wasn't it?

Yeah, Granger. I read Frindle after I read Harry Potter, and one of the first things I thought when I saw her name was: 'Hermione! That's Hermione's last name!'

Yes, "The Lone Granger". She wasn't evil, but she seemd like it for most of the book. Thus, her resemblance to Snape. Well, actually more like Umbridge if she was nicer.

Naw, Granger was always cool.

Oh my goodness, I LOVELOVELOVE this book. Sure, it's a simple plot, but so meaningful! Yes, Mary, it reminds me of your thing with gese... I remember that I got scared when you made that post because I thought you were a stalker. I'm paranoid. Anyway... yes! Frindle is great!

No, not Hermione, Mrs. Granger. And I said "so it appears." Until the end, that woman was... mentally impaired. But I won't deny that she was fun.

@ Lena: Yeah. :) And the thing with GCL convinced you that I was a plagiarist, and the oldoldold RP from February (?) started the whole villainy thing. :) *reminisces*
