LOVE, but be warned, it gets rather... smutty... in the Emerald City.

I've heard good things, and I know it has something to do with WoO. Would youb recommend it?

Yes, definitely. It gets a bit raunchy towards the middle and it's got kind of political commentary going on underneath the plot, and it was very different from what I expected but it was great. :)

The musical is rather excellent too.

I read it and the middle is --as TNO put it on a other thread-- kind of disturbing. But it's good. It shows how how "The Wicked Witch of the West" became *evil*. I *love* Elphie.

My moms reading it, but says "no way!" about me reading it! *sniff sniff* I wish I could! It sounds good... Well, minus the whole WoO scenes. (my mom has explained why, to a certain degree, I can't read it.. XD)

Very good story, but I prefer the musical to the book. I saw it in Chicago and New York, both were very good and had great actresses as the leads, but still, nobody comes up to snuff with the real Elphaba and Glinda: Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth.

((Life to the dead thread! LIFE!!!))

I disagree. I think Stephanie J. Block makes a better Elphaba than IM (not that I don't love Idina, it's just I prefer Stephanie's voice and characterization). Though, yeah, no one beats Kristen Chenoweth.

And the book... Well, it's definitely more of a political commentary than a family-friendly fantasy like the musical is. The book's much more 1984 than the more happy-go-lucky play, so it's much more a matter of taste, I think. Whereas the play can connect with basically anyone.

Random: I love Chicago. <3

Ok so I haven't read the book but the musical was very good. If the book is anything like the musical then I'm sure I'll like it.
