Politically Correct Bedtime Stories
By James Finn...

By James Finn Gardner. A very funny book. Course, I disagreed with almost every single political view in there, but that aside Politically Correct Bedtime Stories is pretty intelligently written. It's basically JFG taking fairy tales and rewriting them in an, ah, interesting way. Much, much better than other fairy tale spoofs/parodies/elaborations/continuations etc. out there. Definitely as good as, if not better than, The Rumplestiltskin Problem by Vivian Vande Velde (which I'd also recommend).

There's also a sequel, Once Upon a More Enlightened Time, which I have yet to read.

Not recommended for anyone who takes very, very Democratic political views badly (or who at least can't appreciate the humour behind the politics), but definitely suggested reading for anyone 10+ with a relatively good vocabulary and a sense of humour. Definitely a sense of humour...

I thought I was the only one who had read this! I liked the style of writing, and I thought all the stories were very humorous. Because I don't feel like making a new thread, I am now reading Les Miserables, Brandon Sanderson, The Hitchicker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the H.I.V.E. series.

I've read Sanderson, Hitchhiker trilogy, and HIVE, but not Le Mis. Is it good?

The author of PCBS, James Finn Garner... he apparently has a child. Oh dear... o.O
