Chatterbox: Blab About Books

The Girl Who Drank the Moon
Hi!My screen ...

Hi!

My screen/pen name is Oaklynn Summers.  I am new to Chatterbox, so it would help if I could have some help!  My favorite book is The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill.  And if you don't know about her, here is your chance to find out more about her!

I don't know any other books by this author, but I can always rely on my Grandmother.  She used to be a librarian and loves books, and she sends me a package full of them about every two months!  I want to be a writer when I grow up, and I love to read.  So I always think that when I read different genres of books, thats different genres of writing!  The library is one of my favorite places to be, other than my room (workshop), on my bike (riding), and with my friends (just hanging out).

I would love to know more and meet you all!

Yours truly,

Oaklynn S.

Welcome, Oaklynn. Were pleased to meet you. How wonderful to have a grandmother who sends you packages of books. You've come to the right place. Chatterbox is full of people who love reading and writing. You'll find lots of book recommendations from others right here! Have a look around.

Welcome Oaklynn!  Here I go by Peregrine.  After my favorite bird, the peregrine falcon.  I have so many favorite books!  I love the Swallows and Amazons series by Arthur Ransome.  It's been my absolute favorite ever since I read it years ago.  Lord of the Rings is another of my favorites.

I've read The Girl Who Drank the Moon, as well as two other books by the same author.  The Mostly True Story of Jack (a mysterious book, and very unique.  I've never found a book quite like it) and Iron Hearted Violet (a strange story about a strange world and a strong princess).  The Girl Who Drank the Moon is still my favorite of the three, but the others are still worth the read.  The Mostly True Story of Jack ranks next after The Girl Who Drank the Moon in my oppinion.

That must be so fun having a librarian Grandmother!  I'm guessing you look forward to her book packages.

I've included a link to the New Ultimate Guide to Chatterbox.  It should answer a lot of questions you may have.  And if you can't find an answer there just ask wherever it seems appropriate!  There are many Chatterboxers (and the Admins) who would be happy to help you, including myself.

I play the violin and really enjoy it.  I just recently moved to a new teacher after playing for ten years with my first teacher.  I most enjoy listening to or playing Bach's solo violin peices.  Especially when it's played by Hilary Hahn.  She is an amazing violinist.

Reading, writing, and spending time outdoors are some of my favorite activities.  Hand crafting I really enjoy too.

I am going to learn a new type of knitting/crocheting, it's called nahlbinding (one of the many ways to spell it) or also known as viking knitting.  It's a little like crocheting except you use a thick bone or wood needle instead of a hook.

This is probably the longest welcoming post I've made so far!  Well, since I cannot think of anything else to add to this it won't get much longer.

Read you around!

Hello Oaklynn S!

I just joined yesterday or the day before, I already can't remember *laughs*. But it's really fun, and and I think you'll have a good time!!! I play piano, although I like singing, and I take voice lessons. You should do guitar! My dad is a musician and he plays it.

Anyway, yeah. It's kind of confusing at first, with all of the AEs and RPs and CAPTCHAs and figuring out what they all mean. But I'm getting the hang of it and I'm sure you will too!

Hope to see you around, and also I joined your story thing, looks like fun!

Hi Oaklynn! I'm Peppermint, (but you can call me Pepper if you like) and it's nice to meet you! My grandmother also works at a library, and she always gives me books as gifts. :) I noticed that you're from California, which is cool because I'm also a Californian! I live in northern California, though.

The Girl Who Drank the Moon is a really good book! I've read it a couple of times. I also would like to become an author when I grow up! Anyways, I hope to see you around!

Thanks!

I also love to craft and write and be creatively busy but I like to be outdoors just as much.  I think we're all going to make terrific friends even if some of you are older.  I'm having lots of fun around here in Cricket Country and meeting new people is one of my goals!

Read you around too!

Hey Oaklynn!

I'm a CBer who's kind of jumped off the face of the CB, meaning I don't go here much anymore, but yeah, you can find me on my ski lodge page, cooking up some evil demise, on the Ultimate Picturings Thread, seeing who to do picturings for next, on Down to Earth, being dragged by my AEs to balls and whatnot, on CaC looking for more things, on Inkwell with my new novel, on This Month, reading MCUs and HHGs, or on BaB, reading about new books!

What I'm saying is that I don't normally click on a lot of thread anymore, but yeah, hope to see you around!

Wow, awesome! I barely get any books anymore 'I read too much' ~ my parents, but yeah, there is no such thing as reading too much!

My grandparents are 1. a proffessional calligraphist and 2. a chinese math teacher.

And yup, like the [wonderful, awesome, and amazing] admins said, this is the right place! A quick briefing of the places...

This Month is for MCU's and HHG's, created by our hardworking Ella Starburst, a truly amazing CBers.

Chirp at Cricket is where most of the SIs happen, and a lot of other things, actually! I'd say it's worth checking out.

Down to Earth is where the craziness happens. AEs, Random Thoughts, they're all there!

Blab About Books is where we are right now! it's for books, but needs a re-do, since it's kind of the one who hasn't been renovated yet, but we're working on it! (#ReviveBaB!)

Inkwell is the spot for writing. RPs normally are set there, and it's a pretty fun place! (watch out for the installements of my novel, Le Magic, and Jazzy's novel. Jazzy's an older CBer whose awesome!)

Pudding's Place is for Arts. there are Ski Lodges (December, whoo, a rush of 'em!) and all things art!

Hope this helps, and I really hope you have a great time!

I love cake!  Thanks Rainbow Riot.  Nightfall, that was helpful!  I was meaning to check out the other categories but except what Cricket and his friends are saying on the home page I didn't really know what they were all about.  *Throws confetti*  I'm getting the hang of this!
