Wings of Fire Book 14 Cover!
THE COVER'S O...

THE COVER'S OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, I'm kinda surprised there isn't a thread about this already, given how many WoF fans there are on the CB. So I'll make one! So yes. WoF 14's cover has been released. Since you can't post pictures on the intro-post-thingy on a thread, I'll post it as soon as this appears. You can use this thread to talk about lots of things,  but mostly A) The dragon on the cover, B) What'll happen in book 14, C), Generic WoF chatting (characters, ships, etc.), and D) Anything else WoF related.

I think that's it!

(P.S. Applause to Joy Ang, who draws the covers, and Phil Falco, who designs them!)

Here's the cover!

So here's my train of thought about who the dragon on the cover is:

1. The dragon is an Icewing. Living Icewings we know of: Winter (Out because he already has his own book), Winter's dad (His mom is out becasue she died of Darkstalker's plague), Queen Snowfall, and Icicle. So the only options are Winter's dad, Icicle, and Queen Snowfall.

2. The dragon is wearing a crown. Therefore, she is a queen and hence female. Winter's dad is out. Queen Snowfall is the obvious guess, as she's the Icewing queen. But Icicle must also be considered.

Currently, Icicle is awaiting trial in the Ice Kingdom for her murder of an unnamed Nightwing and her attempted assasination of Glory. However, her thread of the story is never actually tied off, as she's last mentioned when it's explained about her trial. It'd be just like her to challenge Queen Snowfall for the throne... and win.

However, most fan sites seem pretty sure it's Queen Snowfall, but I've yet to see any concrete evidence or a confirmation from Tui. It could also be Snowfall because, from a writer's point of view, it wouldn't be the best idea to bring back a character who already had her arc.

(Also, yes, I totally felt like Sherlock Holmes just then XD)

It is Snowfall. Tui said that in her blog.

Okey dokey! Icicle was just a guess... Not suprised it isn't her.

Oh my gosh, that's super exciting! I can't wait for book 14 to come out! I think Queen Snowfall will be the narrator, but I'm not completely sure. What's funny is that Bridge of Souls, the third City of Ghosts book (Victoria Schwab), is coming out on the same day!

Ahhh, I probably shouldn't be reading this thread cause it might have spoilers. I kinda took a WoF break after I finished the 11th book. I'm currently making my way through Darkstalker, due to my sister's stubborness. Anyway, I love the series! I'm not sure if I like the first or second arcs better, but if you asked me if I liked MoonxWinter or MoonxQuibli better, I would say WinterxQuibli lol XD My fave character is Glory, I think. Anywho, I should maybe stop procrastinating and read books 12&13, but we'll see. I got a LOT of books for Christmas, and there's not a lot of time to read them all.

We must also put the title in consideration.

The Darkest Gift.

Sounds like an animus gift or something like that. Hm. However

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!

We can rule out that it isn't an animus since in the beginning of The Hive Queen, the 12th book, in the Prologue, it roughly said animus magic doesn't work anymore "It's called being resourceful. And smart. And totally heroic, no prophecies required." -- Tsunami (yes I had to include that quot just AHAHAHAHAHAHA)

So we've ruled out that it's either Icicle or Queen Snowflake. *does a little quick bit of research* Yup, Queen Snowflake. (I searched that up) so it's Queen Snowflake. Fits all the definitions. Queen, crown, IceWing, etc.

And now for the book title, The Dangerous Gift.

My 'prophecy' is that this will be about Queen Snowflake getting some kind of gift...that's dangerous. Or. Um. Since it's like~

OH. MY. MYSTIC!!!!

That's it.

The IceWings are going to be the part of something the..y'know (SPOILER ALERT) Poison Jungle rebellion thingamagiber....

So that's it.

A dangerous gift. Now for the fancy prophecy.

Turn your eyes, your wings, your fire / To the land across the sea / Where dragons are poisoned and dragons are dying / And no one can ever be free. // A scret lurks inside their eggs. / A secret hides within their book. / A secret buried far below / May save those brave enough to look. // Open your hearts, your minds, your wings / To the dragons who flee from the Hive. / Face a great evil with talons united / Or none of the tribes wil survive.

*clears throat again*

The fire is obviously pointing to the flamesilks. After all, no dragon on Pyrrhia has the ability to breath fire unless SOMEBODY enchanted them to. (coughcoughcoughDarkstalkercoughcoughough) The land across the sea is definitly Pantala. Poisoning is Queen Wasp poisoning them with her tail stinger. The egg secret is figured out *look at the last sentence* that's how she gets mind controls. Their book. Clearsight's book. The map thingie that Cricket found in the 13th book. The secret buried far below, I'm not sure of that yet. It could be the flamesilks, since they were in an underground cavern. The next sentence it just the other one thingie a weird...um motivational one? The dragons who flee from the Hives are the Chrysalis. The rest is pretty self explanatory.

*bows* Your welcome :) Now to see where the IceWings and whatnot fit in.

Hm. I think they're part of the secret buried far below. They have some ~ m-y-s-t-e-r-i-o-u-s ~ connection with Pantala. That's just a guess though.

About the whole "A secret buried far below/May save those brave enough to look", one of my best friends has a theory that it's referring to the scavengers is Pantala (Is anyone else super excited for the moment Cricket discovers her "reading monkeys" are allllll over Pyrrhia?) because they live underground. And I gotta say, I think he's right! So far, it's makes the most sense, but whether or not it's true remains to be seen.

(Also, it's Snowfall, not Snowflake. Snowflake is the now-dead dragon betrothed to Prince Arctic, just to let you know ;))

Umm, spoiler alert I guess . . . Or maybe it's about the breath of evil because roots grow underground. The ending of book 13 was CrAzY. Also, I love how the light from the sun hits the landscape on the cover!

I agree. It could actually be the scavengers. Why would she write Dragonslayer so recently? I admit that I thought that what the Lord Of The Undestructible City said in Dragonslayer's epilouge reminded me of the Breath Of Evil (Dun.. Dun.. Dun..) If it is scavengers I hope we can see Winter and Wren/Sky/Leaf/Ivy again.

I think that might actually be completely correct. I know by looking at a random page that Wren and Sky are in this book... and things might escalate from there.

Pyrrhian dragons breathe fire (Mudwings (they can if they're warm enough), NightWings, and SkyWings).

There's a book preview on... Scholastic, I think? Idk I just know my best friend is forcing me to read it XD I still haven't... I just haven't had the time. :( I love WoF! I can't wait for it to actually come out ahhhhhh :DD I'm trying to reread all the books before it comes out... I'm on the 5th.

And yes I'm pretty sure the narrator's Snowfall!

AHHHHH how have I not seen this??

*look up cover*

Okay, now I've seen it. I still haven't read book 13 so I am not exactly sure what significance Snowfall has to the plot yet. It shall be interesting to find out.
