Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Lord of the Rings
I'm sure this...

I'm sure this has been done before, but starting a new thread is sure easier than topping an old one...

So behold: Lord of the Rings! Or the Hobbit, the Silmarillion, Middle Earth in general.

For starters: What's your favorite part? Are the movies or books better? Favorite character?

Favorite:  Legolas being on-screen for my eyes to feast upon

Least favorite:  They left out so much stuff, and J.R.R. Tolkein has the most AMAZING writing style I have ever seen.

Off the top of my head I'd say using Arwen instead of Glorfindel is my favorite, because while I like him, it generated amazing scenes ("A ranger caught off his guard?" and when Aragorn says "As you wish" especially). Least favorite is either Faramir (they made him a jerk in Ithilien and didn't show anything of him and Éowyn) or not including El & El and the rangers on the Paths of the Dead. Overall though I think the movies did surprisingly well even if they did take out all the important things.

If so here she is:

Hight:5'4

Power: Guster, Pisoni path

Description: Light skin, long wavy blonde sunkissed hair, deep yet ice blue eye a weird mix of all blues, wears a green tunic with a white long-sleeves, tall-ish alittle scrawny, An impressive runner.

Yes, I would love to see your LotR one!! Viola seems cool. This is my Keeper one -

Icyn, a 16-year-old Froster and Polyglot with purplish-blue eyes and waist length black hair in a brais. She wears a blue tunic, navy leggings, and black leather boots. She likes animals, the color blue, and cold, and hates abstract art, fire, and any Pyrokinetics because her dad (who was Talentless) died in the Eternalia fire. She manifested later than usual, but her cryokinesis (Froster ability) is very powerful.

Heh I love how we're talking about KotLC in a LotR thread xD

Pippin is amazing

No problem! That's really cool!

Does anyone listen to Clamavi de Profundis? It's a band that does a lot of Tolkien songs, and they do it really really well.

Watching the Fellowship Extended Edition for the second time XD

Frodo's line to Gandalf when they're first leaving Rivendell is amazing "Mordor, Gandalf - is it left or right?"

I REALLY LOVE the Lord of the Rings!!!! I liked all the hobbit movies and the fellowship movie, but the other two lord of the rings movies were SO INACCURATE! And yes, Faramir was a lot meaner than in the books. They added a lot of stuff in the hobbit movies, but I think they kept most of the actual stuff from the book too, and the different stuff was really neat. Plus, I don't love the hobbit as much as the lord of the rings books.

^^^ Agreed. The movies are so complicated. There are the things they kept from the book and did great with, and then they're are the things they changed from the books that were amazing (for me that includes using Arwen instead of Glorfindel...) but then there are the things they changed from the book that were NOT good, like Faramir...

Twiga says <uruif>, you'd better not come home with a white handprint ion your forehead. Uruk-hai are bad role models.

Threads die so fast *sniff*

@Girl of Books, how do you even choose a favorite scene??? Hmm. In the movies, off the top of my head I'd say the Strider scene in the Prancing Pony because it's so iconic and I love Aragorn so much. I've kind of memorized his dialogue with Frodo.

oH OH and the one in the RotK extended edition where the Hunters are hijacking the Corsairs and Gimli kind of 'adjusts' Legolas' aim. Beautiful.

For the books though... Fellowship fight in Lothlórien about blindfolds... The Three Hunters meeting the Riders of Rohan for the first time... Ohh Helm's Deep though. One of the small ones I remember most is that part where Aragorn's holding off the orcs in Helm's Deep while everyone gets to safety and then he finally retreats and Legolas gets that orc. Like I don't think you understand how much I love those two as best friends.

Anyway. This often happens when I'm asked my favorite, a long ramble about all the ones I like XD
