Has anybody else

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

If I Should Die Before I Wake by Han Nolan
Has anybody else...

Has anybody else read this?? My lit. teacher had our whole class read it and I loved it!! The book is about a girl named Hillary who is a neo-Nazi (a current time Nazi). She's in this Jewish neighborhood and she's riding a motorcycle and gets in a wreck. When she wakes up, she's in a Jewish hospital and she can't talk or move. In the first few chapters she's just yelling (in her head) to this sick lady, telling her about all the people she's harassed and how horrible Jews are and it just shows you what a messed up, angry person she is. (there are a few swear words, but it's not too bad) Then, she feels like she's falling and when the feeling stops, she is this Jewish girl during the Holocaust named Chana. It goes back and forth between her life and Chana's life, which includes her entire family splitting apart and going to a horrible work camp where hundreds of people are being killed and worked to death. It's a really sad, moving book. I really loved it and would highly recommend it.(sadly, my teacher has to ruin it by making us do a huge book report on it!!)

(This is what it says on the back.

Hilary hates Jews. As part of a neo-Nazi gang in her town, she's finally found a sense of belonging. But when she's critically injured in an accident, everything changes. Lying near death in a Jewish hospital, Hilary finds herself bombarded with memories of a life in Poland. A life she never lived. ( actually it isn't really memories, it's more like she's living Chana's life ) Somehow, Hilary has become Chana, a Jewish girl fighting for her life in World War 2. ir home by the Nazis, Chana and her family struggle to survive in the terrible Lodz ghetto, where starvation drives people to desperate acts and the saered with filth. Those strong enough to survive are shipped out-to the slaughter house at Auschwitz. How can Chana-or Hilary-survive?

Grrrr! Sorry. My keyboard has been messing up and randomly stoping and starting typing. Where it says "ir home" it should be "Driven from their home" and where it says "and the saered with filth" it needs to be "the streets are smeared with flth"
