Chatterbox: Blab About Books

What book are you reading?
In an effort...

In an effort to stamp out these Warriors RP, here is a new thread!

What book are you reading right now? I'm reading *grimaces* King Arthur and His Knights. For school. I don't have a choice *sobs*. Oh, and I'm reading Pretties, the second book in the Uglies trilogy. It's okay, but not as good as Uglies

So, what are you reading? *listens attentively*

I'm not saying the book is annoying, and I'm fine with a couple Warriors RPs, but when there are 13 of them (on the first page) and only one other HP thread, BaB is slightly boring for the rest of us who don't participate in those threads.

I'm reading Warriors too, but there are way too may threads. I love the series, and participate in the RPs myself, but there's almost nothing else. I miss actual discussion threads. Can't we come to some sort of compromise? Please?

How about this? If there are 5 or more Warriors Clans or Tribes on the first page, we shouldn't make any more at all until there's less than 5  again. This doesn't even count discussion threads, alliances between Clans, "I need a Clan," threads, battle threads... You get the point. And, you can still resurrect dead old Clan threads—what's wrong with posting comments, after all? Really, I think 5-plus-all-those is still way too much, but if it was any less, no one woould agree to the terms. Oh, and in return, no non-RPers who also aggree will complain about the WRPs any more, except on the ChoklitClan thread. Does this seem fair? If not...

Reasons for RPers to agree: I know you really like the RPs. So do I. You have to understand, however, that some of us really miss being able to just discuss books. I enjoyed it a lot. True, you have every right to create whatever type of thread you want, but can you please try to keep the desires of others in mind? Otherwise, I fear BaB will turn into a mere battle of which type of thread appears most! And it isn't as if I'm asking you to stop altogether, just keep it to 5 Clans and as many... outcroppings... as you want, and people will stop complaining!

And, Non RPers: Well, most of it's pretty evident, but also: Has any good ever come out of complaining about the # of RPs? All it does is spark argument.

I don't blame anyone for this, by the way. It's just something that happened, and accusations will do no good. And maybe, if enough people sign, we'll be able to mention Warriors on a non-RPing thread and not have it be negative/angry!!! Or is that hoping for to much?

Will anyone agree to the terms? Besides me, obviously.

On a more thread-related note: The particular book I'm reading is... Well, I'm reading the Silmarillion, by J.R.R. Tolkien (a companion to LotR), but it's really challenging for me, and I often have to take breaks. Right now, I'm reading Alphabet Of Dreams, by Susan Fletcher, in my break time.

I like reading for school. In fact, I love it. My teachers always seem to have good taste in books, so I enjoy it a lot.

And, I've ordered Warriors: Field Guide: Secrets of the Clans, by Erin Hunter, off of Amazon.

Excuse me, but it would be nice not to use terms such as "stamp out Warriors RPs". I think they're just fine, and fun, too. Other than the dear Warrior cats, I'm reading Leven Thumps (please see my deadish thread) and Bleach, a graphic novel series.

They're just fine and fun for the people that have read Warriors and participate in the RPs. For the people that haven't, not so much.

It would be nice not to use those terms, but it would also be nice not to make so many that non-RPers can't participate in BaB at all.  5 Clans per page along with all related threads is really quite enough.

I just finished Moby Dick, poems by Pablo Neruda (anybuggy heard of him?), and...TWILIGHT. Yes, an Admin has read Twilight. I wanted to see what all the chaos and adoration and antagonism was about. :)

I am sorry there are so many Warrior threads. I will stop making them until there arent so many on the first page. Sorry again. Hey Admin, maybe there could be a section for the warrior clan threads only!!! If there could be one made, of course. . . .

I don't think we can create a new section of Chatterbox just for Warrior threads...but it looks like you are all close to working out a solution. Why don't you all try to create new threads instead of worrying about the number of Warrior threads? That way, everyone can find something they like in Blab About Books.

At the moment I'm (re)reading Going Postal, in anticipation of Christmas in which I will optimally be getting about 7 books. I'm also reading The Big Sleep for English honors,

Having just finished Watership Down (Great book, by the way!), I am searching for another good book. Right now I'm reading Beyond The Valley Of Thorns by Patrick Carman. It's pretty good, but it's just not quite as good as Watership Down.

Ooooo, Admin read Twilight AND Moby Dick! Which was better, Admin?

Well, I am currently reading two books, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and The Book Thief by... Markus... Z-something. *is too lazy to get book to look up* Anyway, TBT is amaaaazing. I will probably try to make a thread for it later.

Ima, I like your terms! I agree to them. Anyone else? Let's make BaB alive again! *corny teamwork*

The anti-spam code seeems to be "booo"ing something...

Except for the really detailed passages about whaling gear, which were pretty boring, I'd have to say that Moby Dick is the better book. :)
