Hello, sorry it took me so long to make this! I'm pretty behind on CB stuff rn... but anyways! Priory of the Orange Tree!! Yayy!! :DD
***WARNING: SPOILERS TO COME***
First things first Ig, favorite characters? Little worldbuilding details? Quotes? Other things I'm too tired to think of rn bc it's 10:28 and I'm tired (I already said this didn't I) but I'm trying to do this tonight anyways bc it's the last day before midterms start and things Officially Get Busy and eek I'm so excited for this!! :DD? (question mark bc this was originally a question before I went on tangents btw) Any complaints/questions/observations? Did you want to talk about something specific? (I'll post my answers later)
btw you don't have to read all the rest of this post (except maybe the very end paragraph) if you don't want to/are too busy, don't ask why I'm including it all anyway :/
It took me sooo ridiculously longgg to finish Priory and I must confess, the only reason I got to doing so before the library due date (well, the renewed due date) is because of my dance concerts. And before you ask, yes, I do find it necessary to tell you all the following paragraphs, because [totally make-sensy reason here]. Did I mention I'm tired? Haha usually night times are my productive times but idk
Basically I joined a dance group at school and so we had two performances in November + one dress rehearsal which was literally us running through the whole performance 2 times (also in November). There are 20 acts/dances in total. So the whole dress rehearsal took 4 hours, with performances being like 2 hours. I'm only in 1 dance that lasts for a few minutes + final bows that lasts for a few minutes + blech social life that lasts for hopefully not my whole life which means like 1-3+ hours of mostly uninterrupted reading time down in the (oh-my-super-so-awesome-the-kind-you-only-read-about-in-books) basement under the stage!! x3!! Which means finishing Priory before having to disappoint librarians! Yayy!! :D
The only downside was that I was finishing the book up so basically a lot of people were dying (well, I mean I thought they had died, which is almost the same thing in the moment) and big dramatic sad stuff was happening and Igrain Crest was getting her head chopped off as really loud bouncy happy peppy music was being blasted over the speakers bc why did so many of the dances have bouncy happy peppy music again?!??? I'm trying to mourn some of my favorite characters almost-dying here! Hello! But oh well it's fine I'm used to it :)
Also I was sitting on the floor next to a trash can (I wonder if this has something to do with my blech social life? :) ) so once someone dumped their trash on me... which I'm fine with it's my fault choosing to sit where I sat but it's kinda like, NOOO!!! EADDDD!!! WHYYYY?!????? Oh hey there's suddenly a candy wrapper on me. BUT EADDDD!!! :)
As you can see, I was pretty devastated when I thought Ead had died cuz she's like my favorite character... I literally burst into tears on multiple occasions and literally no one noticed, everyone around me just kept on doing their makeup and stuff like EAD DIDN'T JUST GET SHOT WITH A POISON DART BY HER OWN SISTER!! BETRAYED! NO! XD Not to mention everything else...
I was still devastated when they call came that it was my turn to go up on stage and perform for the audience so like my whole performance my body's doing the movements but my mind's just EADDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!! Almost messed up cuz I was so distracted XD
anyways sorry enough rambling about myself, Priory! Yay! :D
(also I thought I'd put the thread on BaB because I'm gonna be absent for like 2 weeks soon + if you're gonna be busy; currently I think BaB is kinda sorta the most inactive place here so it's less likely to get pushed to the bottom if one of us is too busy to respond; I'm fine with moving it too though if you want (though sorry admins if so cuz extra work...)

Hmm Teft... honestly, names are slippery for me when it comes to The Way of Kings (and in that light, I may know Lopen and Hoid, I may not). A bridgeman? Oh wait! He's the one who didn't want to give up his food haha! But I'd prob do the same in his situation. I DO know Rock though (aka Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor XD... I wonder how Brandon Sanderson came up with that name though. Is it nonsense? Does it have a meaning/reason for how it developed/whatever?). But yup, can't help but love the guy who put chull dung in Sadeas's food haha - who knew it could be so versatile and used for so many purposes? Speaking of, it's so interesting to see all the different perspectives of Sadeas: the king's (Elhokar?), Dalinar's, Adolin's, Kaladin's, everyone else's... look at me remembering five names! :D but anyways. I must confess to liking Wit quite a bit too, and Shallan, even if I don't always agree entirely with her beliefs (what can I say? I do love a quick-tongued female lead :) ). Also quite like Syl. Because, quote:

I also really like Kaladin's mother, from what I've seen of her, she's awesome, and Kaladin's brother... who's name I forgot.
(about humen vs human) true, true. Did we have this conversation before? I very clearly remember ranting about the bathrooms at the place where I used to swim... ok not very clearly remember, bc I don't remember what I ranted about haha. But either way, English is the weirdest mixed-up-and-in language. Thanks for telling me again even if you did already, bc seriously! And haha yes love your garlic bread epiphany!! :D
uhoh I have permission to rant! :D not something you ever want to give me! But uh yeah she really is pretty great. Did I tell you I'm pretty sure she's the reason I didn't fail my science midterm? Yup. :D she face-timed me and a classmate to study for it together and um I realized I didn't know like 3 quarters of the material but she helped (the other classmate had to leave after like 5 min; she's pretty nice too though). And I'm sooo glad that she's always there to pull me into the circle (or once it was at a school dance and everyone was dancing and I was just standing there feeling awkward and she just reached out easy as that and pulled me in and suddenly I was dancing with everyone else and <33) when I'm standing outside or to say hi when all the other girls are talking to each other and ignoring me (honestly, I think the other girls do that just bc they don't know what to do when I'm around, but when she says hi, they all start saying hi too... :) ) and... idk. It's just so nice and makes my day. <3 even when she's threatening to suck all my blood out cuz she's secretly a vampire. :p

Speaking of great friends... yes I do hope that my friends are inedible kids (idrk how to give context?)... but apparently we're not bc a few of us are victims of being snacked on by our siblings... I'm looking at you, my brother. >:(

ahh during covid I watched so much Phineas and Ferb and can I just say that Perry is the most amazing bestest awesomest ever?!??? YES. Also, their theme song is just. Perfect.
(about the friend thing) yeah, thank you <33 it's great you've found your people! I do have a lot of awesomest friends who are just as quirky and weird as me (though actually some are pretty popular too), and my BFF is even less social than me (at least according to our parents' rants about how unsocial their children are haha), it's just that I left them all behind when I chose to transfer schools... :/. So I haven't seen some of them for like idk half a year now. It's just the people at this new school aren't... what I'm used to?? I guess? About HPMoR, thank you for offering! I was TOTALLY going to approach the person I was talking about to strike up a conversation about it... did I do it?

I honestly love all music except for 3 songs:
1. Old Town Road, bc I heard it enough times in 2nd grade to last a lifetime.
2. Bedwars is So Fun bc NO it's NOT it took my brother away from me and made him a half-the-time horrid monster. >:( and
3. U.F.O. by Coldplay. I don't know why. I don't even remember how it goes. Heard it once on the radio and decided it wasn't for me.
I also don't totally love BTS... which I feel bad about, but... idk. I do mean every good thing I say about it though.
But besides that! I love country, indie, rock, punk, pop, hip hop, classical, EDM, show tunes, uhh... really, anything you can think of, I love. Honestly, I don't listen to music unless it's a recommendation from the CB just to see what it is, or if my family's playing the radio. Whatever's on, I listen to it. If nothing's on, I listen to that. :) I will say my favorite favorite song (I have like 70+ favorites, so I have to say "favorite favorite" lol) is "i guess that was goodbye" by Lyn Lapid, my favorite artist is mxmtoon, and my favorite... voice, I guess, is egg (who also has some great covers (aka "spins") songs of her own). How about you?
I can definitely see you as a robot for some reason. Well, more of a cyborg. But still.

SPOILER FOR WHAT GOT IN if you don't know but want to know btw, it was the "did you hear about the flat-Earth believer who decided to walk West until he fell off? Eventually, he came around, and realized that all he had to fear was sphere itself" (or smth like that) pun!!! And Tater was like "sphere itself! Hah!" :D I forgot if you get Cricket magazine?

OH I REMEMBER NOW- I watched the Great Space Race song and it was awesomee thank you!! And that last bit about all the products we got from that whole thing was super cool!! I mean, water filtration systems? Artificial limbs? Even ear thermometers!? All products of the Great Space Race!! Never knew that, I've always just sorta took those types of things for granted :)

small disgression [reminded by Wikipedia] but isn't it wild that there are so many examples of cloned dogs in history? Like Aurel Stein [19th century archaeologist] had seven consecutive dogs each named Dash because when one died he'd get another and name it the exact same thing. Fast forward to today where we have Javier Milei, Argentinean president, with six cloned dogs named Conan who reportedly provide him political advice through a medium [if that isn't terrifying I don't know what is]. Then you have things like Ruppy, where a dog was genetically modified to have a red florescent protein so scientists could moniter the effect of estrogen on fertility. And then there's Hercules and Tiangou, who are two dogs genetically engineered to have twice the normal amount of muscle mass.
like why is this a recurring pattern? Cloned canines?? [I somehow got myself into writing an essay for English comparing the lessons taught in Frankenstein to scientific exploration and specifically genetically engineered dogs... it's ridiculous and my teacher is gonna hate it but I'm having fun :) ]
YEP I've read Six of Crows. I really liked it :D I've also read Shadow and Bone [kinda bad?] and the King of Scars/Rule of Wolves duology [pretty good but not as good as Six of Crows]. I really want to read another book that I'm not gonna mention here because I don't think it's CB appropriate but it's by the same author. I've also seen some of the SoC show, but it's really weird... all the characters seem super old XD

yeah I have an older brother. He's a sophomore [I think?] in college though so I don't see him super often. We always argued when we were younger but now we get along pretty well when we talk, which isn't very frequently :( is your brother older or younger?
ok so I now can't stand the Phineas and Ferb theme song... I listened to it for like two hours on repeat this weekend because my friends and I had to make a skit and we did an autonomous transportation-themed parody of the theme song. LONG STORY OK but I can share the lyrics if you want XD

I listen to music a lot, especially when I'm stressed or having a bad day—soooo a lot XD I like rock/pop/indie/some mix of the genres I think? I like Good Kid, Paramore, half・alive, mxmtoon, vaultboy, Owl City, Avicii, Troye Sivan...
apparently my top songs this month were 'don't shop when ur hungry !!" by vaultboy and salem ilese, 'The Nights' by Avicii, 'Windmill' by Lor, and 'scales' by mxmtoon.

Ok woah I just finished reading an article on Aurel Stein and his Dash(es) (focusing on Dash the Great in particular, but it had notes about them all), and... wow. That's actually... wow. But they all met such tragic deaths!! :( but eek the diff accounts of the dogs are adorable and ah the challenges they had to go through and it's clear that ppl loved them <3
about Javier Milei and the clones of Conan... that is crazy. And YES scary. How?? How do you communicate with your dogs on political decisions using a "Medium"?? And weird tangent but kind of reminds me: if you've never read the Dog Man books then SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 1 OF THE FIRST BOOK (and also btw if you don't know Dog Man is a crimefighter who is a dog's head sewn into a man's body bc I'll explain later (that was a horrible description sorry but yeah) so basically he has a man's strength and reflexes and all that but a dog's brain and thinking), but basically in the first chapter this policeman named Officer Knight and this policedog named Greg find a bomb and there's a red wire and a green wire and they're trying to diffuse it so Officer Knight asks Greg what color wire he should cut and Greg says "Grr" so Officer Knight said "Ok! Green it is!!!!" and so he cuts the green wire but ofc it's the wrong one and the bomb blows up and then Officer Knight is like "Oh no! I forgot dogs are colored blind!!!!" (that's what you get when you trust dogs with decisions!) and that's basically the huge accident that "kills" the dog's body and "kills" the man's head and so the doctors and nurses sew the dog head onto the man body to salvage what's left and Dog Man is born!
yes I love Dog Man don't sue me. Also yes that was a totally unnecessary chunk of paragraph and whatever point that was in there totally got lost in all the explanations and words and wow um I should delete that but... ok yeah I don't have a reason why I'm not gonna delete it. I'm just not gonna delete it. Enjoy? :)

how's Way of Kings going? :D have you read any other good books recently? I just read Becky Chamber's A Pslam for the Wild-Built. It's about a tea monk and a nature-loving robot and it's really short which was nice but also slightly philosophical and sweet? It's not usually what I like to read but I like sci-fi and Becky Chambers so I figured I'd give it a try. You might like it?

And I thought it was so funny because I asked my crush what she does in her free time and she said the exact same thing XD (well, "what free time?", but close enough. I'm afraid that I realized after the fact that I probably shouldn't write a satirical article on the dogs because um probably shouldn't offend people but what's crazy is that after I posted that, when we were brainstorming, someone else brought it up!! :0 But yeah.

Someone from my old school is transferring next year and we've never really been friends but he's nice (from my limited 8-year (estimating I actually don't know how long I've known him for... huh) knowledge of him XD) and we were on book battles together so I'm hoping we can somehow connect?? Idk he'll probably want to make his own connections too though. I'm just super bad at social interaction it seems. But yeah it's... yeah. The Way of Kings is awesometastic and I cannot thank you enough for recommending it (and so many other things I'm not even gonna try to name them all) to me. I'm currently on page 790 (big mistake: I put off reading a ton of it early on so I could read it during my dance rehearsals/concerts later on like I did with Priory, but then I set myself a goal to not read at all during the whole like combined maybe 11 hours and now I realize all the wasted time I could've spent reading and not constantly going to the library to renew :/ at least I have more time with it though now!!).
---in this break I showered, ate dinner, folded some laundry, emailed some friends, figured out how text messages/creating group chats work (this took way longer than it should've), studied a bit for my Chinese final, then came back---
I have met Lopen and YES he is awesome lol. I'm honestly still not certain if I know Hoid...
but nooo we just lost Dunny and I was just sitting in math class crying oh look I'm crying again now but yeah Ik that wasn't the scene you were asking for but when and I mean not Dunny (and then Maps and Akrash(?? I think Akrash might be someone else though...) right after NO not helping morale guys stop dying on meee... but Kaladin's whole monologue/whatever after he lost Dunny was just... heartbreaking <3 may y'all fictional characters rest in peace
I feel like we're gonna have to lose Teft/Rock/maybeee Moash soon. It just seems too good to not have them die.
ALSO I AM SO MAD AT AMARAM WHAT Kaladin totally got that shardplate and shardblade and then I mean and then Amaram killed Kaladin's remaining men and aghhhhhhh...

I've actually started watching Amphibia -- I think I remember you saying it was good too? -- and I actually love it so far!! I don't love Anne as much as Luz, or Sprig as much as... King Eda Gus Willow Amity Hunter Hooty everyone, but I do love them in their own way and... it's pretty great! I foresee a character arc coming for Anne... she's sorta annoying me, but I get it. Ironically, I think Sprig is actually the most responsible out of Sprig, Anne, and Polly (Polly... is amazing). But Hop-Pop is ofc the responsibleist (is that a word?) of everyone. I love the little sounds the frogs make when they jump!!!
btw, did you see the Amphibia easter egg in TOH? So cool!! And speaking of TV shows, do you watch Young Sheldon? My crush recently introduced me to it, and it's pretty good (I loveeeee all the dialogue so muchhhhh)!! Racist though >:( or at least the second episode
on a related Phineas and Ferb note, do you ever think of Peri the Platypus? I do. More often than I probably should. I really wanna tell Peri but I honestly feel kinda weird just @ing her and being like "hey Peri! Your name could totally be a cartoon platypus from a TV show!!"

Life in general... is good. I'm able to regularly eat lunch now (it's complicated idk if I explained already but oh well), the lunch is my grandma's homemade recipe which is sooooooooooooooooo good, I have great friends and loving family and you guys and, as said, am very lucky. And summer's almost here! OH OH OH AND ALSOOO I met Molly Knox Ostertag and ND Stevenson and a bunch of other people and got so many autographs and it was amazinggg I'm so happy!!! Plus I now actually own a copy of Six of Crows so I don't have to wait to borrow it whenever I want to reread anymore!!!

And Kaz's schemes are so well thought out I sorta wanna ask Leigh Bardugo what research she did for that or if she's just naturally that brilliant and if so why hasn't she taken over the world yet :) and the ending was so satisfying I mean at least for me that's the most satisfying ending I've ever read and it's only two books :0 and whenever I'm mad at someone I just imagine Pekka Rollins and how everything ended for him and then I'm good :)
Oof, that's hard about your brother :( it's great you have a better relationship with him now though!! My brother is younger. But he's super popular ahaha sorta like one of those popular clique kids you read about in books... I do not understand how he does it. :/

-mxmtoon yesss!!! I haven't listened to Scales, but I will soon as possible!! Her music's a big source of comfort for me; literally (well, literally except for mascara. But everything else but the mascara yes) every single line describes me perfectly and describes some of my deepest secrets and just <33 more late maybe??
-also congrats on your robotics thing!!!!!!!! That's awesome!!!!!! :DDD hopefully you're not too busy with that though :) but that's great!!!

...posting rampage. :/ anyways you'll see at the end of my first response I have a whole list that I forgot to delete oops lol of stuff I wanted to include in my post because my brain was getting too sleepy to remember everything. But good thing I didn't delete it because I still left out:
- I asked that Harry Potter obsessed friend(?) about HPMoR and she was like... oh. Cool. And I was like yupppp. Soo... that went nowhere lol. But I'm actually fairly proud that I asked! Less proud that it took me umm over a month to work up the courage to ask her just that one question XD. We sit at lunch together btw. :/
