Hello just popping in super quickly (yay for free wifi!)  I saw this thread and I was like YESS THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS I WAS GOING TO BUT FORGOT AND ACKK!! :DD Anyways yeah couldn't resist clicking on it. I'm a HUMONGOUS fan. My dad has these giant collections and read them to my brother and I when we were little and when we got the chance to cosplay a few months ago I was immediately like WE HAVE TO DRESS UP AS CALVIN AND HOBBES (I called Hobbes btw! :D). I can post a picture of the flipbook I made later (do you know the one?)

we recently had a math midterm and at the end I drew a Calvin and Hobbes comic for my math teacher (who's a huge math nerd I love her), it was the Mr. Jones d=rt one :)

anyways, what are y'all's favorite snow creations? and rly gtg... bye!

(also sorry I'll read the other comments later)

I love Calvin and Hobbes! I first read them when I was like four, which was not ideal because I didn't get them at all, and then this year I rediscovered them and really enjoyed them! I still have two books left, I think?

I feel like there are very few funny comic strips being made currently - all the ones I like are from decades ago :( It's sad because humor is so enjoyable, plus it's also a really effective way to critique society (which needs critiquing right now).

True. Have u ever read Phoebe and her Unicorn? I think it's meant for younger kids, but I read it a couple weeks ago and it's actually pretty fun.

I've seen it at the library before, but I've never picked it up. My brother got the Bad Guys series for xmas- it seems similar. Younger readers, but I ended up reading it and it was actually pretty good

Calvin and Hobbes is my childhood. I love them so muchhh. My dad read them to me and my brother when we were little, and I think a lot of the jokes went over my head then but they continue to be funny ten years later!

I think WildWolf recommended Phoebe and her Unicorn--I would definitely recommend that as well as a Calvin and Hobbes-ish comic strip that's more recent.  One thing about comics is that they seem to be behind other literary genres in the diversity aspect. Phoebe and her Unicorn is very gender-inclusive but there are hardly any characters of color, and I never see comic strips being created by authors of color, so if y'all know of any I would love recommendations.

Ah, yes. Both Phoebe and her Unicorn and Calvin and Hobbes are very... white. A comic book that's actually very similar to Calvin and Hobbes and has people of colour in it is called Crabgrass comic adventures. It's really funny too, though focused a tiny bit more on younger kids... not really though. It's kinda like Calvin and Hobbes where there's something for everyone.

I love Calvin and Hobbes - they're some of my favorite comic books ever :) Calvin reminds me a bit of a little boy I know irl, always wanting to do new things and getting everyone else to do them with him. And I love the recurring themes of sledding and snow sculptures and Spaceman Spiff XD
