Chatterbox: Blab About Books

A Chatterboxer's Manifesto, or My Suggestions To Make BaB Live Again
Let's face it....

Let's face it. Blab About Books is dead. Everything, and I mean everything, is a Warriors RP. We've had this problem for a very long time. When I came to the Chatterbox, BaB was about books. That's books with an s, all sorts of books. There were no roleplays. Then a Warriors RP popped up, and that was OK, and I participated. Then some of the Clan leaders made their own threads, and that was OK too, because there were only 2 or 3. Then new clans popped up, and you know what? That was also OK. Then about 30 new clans were made. You know what? That is not OK, because now if anyone actually wants to blab about books, they will have a great deal of difficulty doing so. Yes, you can say they could start a new thread. It will soon be lost in the fields of Warriors RPs. Let's have some numbers before I propose our plan. On BaB, there are 69 threads relating to Warriors RPs in the first 10 pages. That includes threads like this one, addressing the problem; Choklitclan, ridiculing the problem; and interclan talk. Now, here are my thoughts on how we can address this problem. I have borrowed liberally from Ima's, as I agree with many of hers.

#1. No new Clans. Yes, this is going to be protested. But there's got to be 60 threads out there. If you want to RP, join a clan, don't make one. Let's crunch some numbers. There're more than 50 clans out there. However, I think there are not 50 Chatterboxers! That means some people have made multiple clans. Who needs to make more than one Clan? No new clans. Join the old ones.

#2. Let me paraphrase Ima. "There should only be 5 Clan threads at a time on the front page." How about this? Five RP threads. I don't really care if it's "I want a clan", an actual "clan", a "battle", a "gathering", or whatever. Five RPs. And ChoklitClan is not an RP.

#3. Antiwarriors. Lighten up. Let them have fun. Let them have their fun on five or fewer threads.

#4. Warriors RPers. I understand, OK. I'm in StormClan, and it is fun, I admit that. But seriously. We have to draw the line somewhere, or it's not going to be fun for anyone else.

#5, and this is the most important. Everyone, make serious threads. Talk about books, and that will help lessen the WRPS. We can't ask the Admins or Webpeople to do everything for us. We have to be the change.

Please heed my ideas, stop fighting, and start building BaB again.

-Reuben

Very good ideas, Reuben. You're right. There are many more worthy books to discuss!

I agree. Actually, I think it should stick to 5 RP threads. I was just trying to get people to agree, so I said 5 Clans out of desperation. However, I think there are a few exceptions. I have only ever made 2 Warriors threads (not Clans, since there'd be no point when I could just join 1, but announcements), but sometimes a thread needs to be made. For example, I'm leader (not founder, just leader) of LakeClan, and there's over 400 comments on it! That's more than any other thread in BaB! I think it might start to get hard to load at some point, and I'd certainly like to make a new thread if/when that happens. And, also, many threads have been made announcing important events. I think this could be stopped if someone made a thread for Gatherings that took place each month/moon to discuss theses things with other Clans. It would mean 1 new thread made, but a lot less made in  the future, if it could be kept at the top. And, 1 time, I had a question for a leader of another Clan, but the Clan was really hard to find, so I just made a thread for it. Well, actually, that shouldn't be a problem anymore, as we have Google search.

And I'll definitely make a non-warrior thread soon, if not more.

You're absolutely right, Reuben. To the front, thread! People need to see this.

Amen! I think the problem is not too many warrior threads but too little non-warrior threads to balence it out. I say we all make a nonwarrior thread right now!

Hear, hear! *claps*

Exactly, Reuben. Everybody needs to see this.

Yes. I'm about to make my 2nd non-warrior thread of the day, actually, and I usually never make threads of any kind.

Anyway, I was wondering  if anyone agrees with my 2 exceptions, or if it's not worth it. If LakeClan became hard to load, I'd make a new thread no matter what people think, but I'm unsure whether I should make the Gathering thread. It would mean less threads in the future, but only if anyone actually used it.

Oh, and what about resurrecting old warriors threads? I wouldn't do it myself, but if someone posted on a Clan I'm in, and it went to the back, I wouldn't just leave it there. I'd comment even though that meant it would go to the front.

Woohoo! Great idea, Reuben! Does this mean we can't make more HPRPs? Or if we do, should we post them in Inkwell? Cause you're right, BaB is about discussing books. And roleplays don't really do that.

@ Ima. IMHO, the gathering thread is a great idea. I think you should make it, but if you do, I think you should label it as a type of Warriors message board.

@ Hannah. Yeah, Inkwell would probably be better.

Yeah... Wait, actually, I think someone (possibly Holly) made a thread like I mentioned a long time ago... But I'm not looking through 10 pages to find it. I'll just go ahead and make 1.

:) :) :) Nice ideas, Reuben!!!  Warriors is taking over BaB, whether anyone likes it or not.  And it's not like Warriors is an evil topic or anything, but it's nice to keep it in moderation.  I will mildly point out that pretty much everyone here likes HP and there aren't nearly as many threads (I think) about HP as there are of Warriors.  And sorry if I'm wrong.  So, with Reuben's ideas, BaB will live again!

*Note: If anything said in this post offended anyone in the general CB public, please disregard this post.  You have never read it.  Don't want to spoil anyone's day, do I?*

RANDOM: Oh, and also with that google search thingie, I find I don't get all the threads I want...does anyone have this same problem?  Am I too picky?

((@ Leaf: You've got to type in site:www.cricketmagkids.com before you write what you want to search; for instance, if you're looking for, say, a thread on the Percy Jackson books, you'd Google "site:www.cricketmagkids.com percy jackson" or somesuch thing. Gotcha? :D))

Thanks to everyone supportive of my plan. Laughing

Has anyone else noticed, in the helping BaB range, that the "last reply" glitch is fixed? Thank you, Admins and Webpeople!

So far, BaB is getting better!

Thanks to our Webmaster for fixing the glitch. Admin here just relayed the message.
