Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Theodosia Throckmorton series, by R.L. LaFevers
These books are...

These books are awesome.

They're about this girl named Theodosia. Her mother is an archeologist, and her father runs a museum of Egyptian artifacts, and she practically lives there. But the thing is, the ancient Egyptians put curses on many of the artifacts. Theodosia is, for some reason, able to sense these curses. Of course, she knows no one would believe her if she told them.  So she has to find translations of ancient Egyptian texts, convince everyone it's completely natural for her to do so, read them, searching for ways to remove curses, remove them, having to improvise often for ingredients she can't find (such as mud from the Nile River), and avoid notice. When you have a life like that, things are bound to happen.

And happen they do. Such as being chased by the Serpents Of Chaos, finding 2 secret organizations, one very helpful, the other rather... misinformed (they thought she was the goddess Isis!), having to chase off several unpleasant governnesses, etc.

But anyway, this is a good series. It has been recommended for fans of HP, and the author also reccommended a few titles to fans of her own books... I'll check the website later and see what they are, as I've forgotten, but I know that one is When You Reach Me.

The first book in the series is Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos.
