I read the Shadow Children series too! It was really interesting. Another great sci-fi/fantasy book is A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.

I really agree. A Wrinkle in Time is great! If you want fairly scary books, you should read Lois Dunkan. They are really good, although sometimes a bit creepy.

H'm, sci-fi isn't really my genre. You might try the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, that's not bad (but it's not the best book either). Or His Dark Materials, but I don't want to start a religious dispute so let's not go into that. The Giver is good.

That's all I can think of. Sorry.

All these books are great! You definately have to read all of them.  The Giver is a classic-you probably will have to read it in school and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is histerical!  After you finish the His Dark Materials which does question religion-but is sooo good-read the Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix.  It starts will Sabriel and is the bestest series evah!

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is very funny but a bit weird.  His Dark Materials is definitely not my recommendation, it is very dark and doesn't just question religion, it tries to change people's minds about it and convince them that their religion is wrong.  At least that's what a lot of people told me.  I started The Golden Compass and got about 2 chapters in before my mom made me take it back to the library.  I did have to read The Giver for 7th grade English. It was a little weird but it really made you think.  I'm not going to go into this too much because I'm sure some of you have already read my comments about The Giver on another post.  Anyway, The Green Book is pretty good, but short.  I'm not sure who wrote it.  Diana Wynne Jones is a good author. I have read a couple of her books, but they are kind of more fantasy.  They do have sci-fi elements though.

I really really really like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It has a very unique blend of science fiction and humor. All the sequels are also great.

Has anyone read the Underland Chronicles? The first one, Gregor the Overlander, is the best, and the other ones just become dull.

Gina, a great sci fi book I've read is The Power of Un. It's about a boy who discovers a cool device called the Unner that takes you back in time so you can correct your mistakes.  Then his little sister gets in a lot of trouble (I don't want to spoil it), and he has to use the Unner to go back in time to save her.

The internationally acclaimed Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer has a unique mix of science fiction as well as fantasy. If you like reading about time travel, hi-tech and advanced technology, fairies, criminal masterminds, and heroes, then you need to read this series. If you don't like the first book, Artemis Fowl, keep reading the rest of the series anyway, because it will really be worth your time. Eoin Colfer's other books are really good as well.

Hi.

Yeah, I have. It was really cool, but two of the characters died, so kinda sad here and there... at the end, don't you think it hinted of a sequel to come? After all, the bad guy is still alive and well...
