Well, right now I have this idea for a book spinning around in my head (and I'm going to write a book about it if I ever finish Inconvenient Alliances). Basically, there are these two countries and they're trying to settle an argument over... well... something. So then two hundred people from each country have to participate in this survival thing. I know which book you're thinking of, but it's not like that at all. Here are the basics:

-People aren't allowed to kill each other.

-If they're on the brink of death, participants are saved but disqualified.

-They aren't being watched by the public, only by the judges (the judges use magic to watch them).

-It's sort of like these three areas, water, woods, and fields, where people walk around looking for something.

- No magic allowed.

=Adults and children can both do it.

-Hidden in the center of the woods (but participants don't know where) there is something, and whichever country finds this something first wins the survival thing.

And, anyway, in the country Undefined all those army guys decide to do it, but in the country Unknown, the economy and the government is sort of messed up, and... it's hard to explain and I haven't even really thought of a reason. But, one way or another, all those kids and middle-age dads end up having to participate. One of those kids is a girl named Sparta. Behold what happens next. Or don't behold. Whatever/

Ever since I saw it on a name generator, I've wanted to name a character Verona.

This is so awesome!Laughing

I actually don't have an idea for a story, exactly, but I do have a name that I thought of last night: Gracelyn.(Gray-SE-lin)

It's actually a pretty obvious pronunciation, but I like doing it anyway......

What's the name generator called? I've heard about these before, but never really had a big enough deficit in names to use one.

I do write a lot, but almost entirely fanfiction.  I did want to write a novel- a historical fiction trilogy actually, but I haven't started yet.  Or really fleshed out the idea yet.

I thought it would be interestting to have the first novel set in fifth-century Ireland, around the time of St. Patrick- this is a period I'm very interested in.

The second would be in Germanic/Nordic Europe around five hundred years later.  Think Beowulf.  Main character's name would be Hildeburh.  Not much of a plot here as yet.

The third would be set in a post-apocalyptic future, and would be told from the point of view of a teenage girl, alone in a darkened world, separated from her family and friends.

Of course, there would have to be something to tie these all together.  Some common theme of retaining one's humanity in the darkest of times?  Fifth-century Ireland was quite barbaric (you don't want to know the details, and the Admin wouldn't let me post them anyway), Beowulf- era Europe very tumultuous, and a post-apocalyptic future rather along the same lines.

Any thoughts/suggestions/criticism?

A first line to a story called "Drive to Peru" that I'm afraid to work on sometimes:

"Driving down I-95 in a canary-yellow Ford Focus wagon with a budgie, a collie, and 38 blown-up birthday balloons in he backseat constitutes a Really Bad Idea."

Garthwumpian Flopp says fekn. Yeah, he's just "fekn" it.

DAAA ha ha ha ha HA! I am such a genie-ous!

"Fekn". (snort)

~Quintus is done and will be taking a nap now.

I had an idea about a shadow that also functions as the person-who-they-are-a-shadow for's conscience.
