Chicago

Hey, everyone! I'm at the lounge at the station in Chicago, waiting to get on the train home! I went to a lot of places and I'd LOVE to tell all you wonderful CBers all about it!

Unfortunately, my train is getting here soon and my sister wants a turn, so I don't have time. I'll do it later. See you!

Hey, I just got back from Chicago! I might've seen you there and not known about it (that would've been weeeird...)

We were scouting out colleges for Scarlett and stopped by UChicago because why not? We were following this GPS thing and we were kind of wondering if these things should come equipped with an 'avoid shady neighborhoods' filter.

Where did you go? I went to a bunch of places, and particularly enjoyed the Shedd Aquarium.

Oooh, the Shedd! I remember that place! It was awesome.

I went a lot of places, most of which I can't actually remember the names of. But there was one, the Field Museum, that was really cool. Go there sometime, because it is the best place ever.

(I'm probably exaggerating, but I really liked it.)

I went to the Field Museum last year and was surprised to discover that Sue's presence at the museum is financed by McDonald's! I saw, like, maybe two or three documentaries about it and read Don't Eat This Book by Morgan Spurlock. They just REFUSE to ever admit to anything, except in the case of the hot coffee incident - Google it! It wasn't their fault (says my mom and I have to agree) 'cause the coffee was HOT because it has HOT in the name!

Sorry, straying off topic/ranting. Yeah, I liked the Field Museum. It was really cool, especially Sue, regardless of whether not Sue's exhibition is made possible by a complete corporate monster.

And we went to the Adler Planetarium this year.

I've never been to Chicago.  It's kind of far away from where I live.  My family's going to Wisconsin this summer, though.  That's just one state over!

Isn't Sue the T Rex in the Field Museum?  I really want to go there, then!

GPSs can be utterly demented, and sometimes make me wonder if terrorists have rigged them, because ours ADAMENTLY told us to turn right. That would have led us off a cliff. It, I KID YOU NOT, dared to sound ANGRY after we refused! I really didn't know a GPS could sound so ticked off...

Ours told us to turn the wrong way once, too. We could see the area of our destination on the left, but it said to turn right, so we turned the GPS off and turned left. Technology is wonderful when it works, which is most of the time, but we humans still do have brains, too. And I'm glad you didn't drive off the cliff!

There are videos of people on YouTube who weren't paying attention to the actual road and only listened to the GPS and things happened to them which are kind of hilarious now but were probably pretty terrifying then. Like driving off the end of a dock into a lake.

Me also glad you did not drive off that drubbish (slang word I invented) cliff. Then you wouldn't be here to be so awesome and stuff. (Yes, I really think you're so awesome and stuff, BHR. You're welcome.)

Variations of drubbish include:

Drub, drubby, and completely drubonical.
