As you may or may not have noticed, the Admins have been editing, cutting, snipping, deleting, ... you get the idea (I prefer to think "censored") ... several of my comments on a regular basis. I am thoroughly peeved when this happens, on many levels, all depending of how much of an impact the edit made and how important the comment (or part of the comment) was to me.

The first time I saw it happen to me, I was a little creeped out, because I didn't previously know the Admins could do that. Then I was outraged, feeling the attitude that that was MY writing, and I wrote it, and that the Admins had had no right to censor it! I have eventually gotten used to it, but every time I notice it, I am still annoyed and frustrated. There was one edit they made once that sort of befuddled me, cause it was the sort of humor you see in the average kids movie that's rated PG for "rude humor" and such, but that was the only time I did not feel annoyed at their edits. The rest of the time, I have felt frustrated on many levels.

It limits my freedom that I have here, and the sort of subjects I've tried to chat about that are sort of just for teens and older (and there are quite a bit of teens here, I note) but not really for younger audiences, have been deleted. I don't see any good reason to take images out because of "copyright", for the reasons that, one, the internet is a place where if you're going to share your work, you should be prepared for people to pass it around among themselves throughout the bowels of the Web and put it on other sites.

So, you may now be wondering, if I am so unhappy, why not just stop posting here and go somewhere else?

That is simply explained. Leaving the Chatterbox would be like leaving a very endearing, though annyoing, brother. (Not saying you guys yourselves are annoying, just the things I've stated.) I have made some of the best friends I have ever had here, and I would not leave them for the world, the same way I would not abandon my annoying brother (who I wish I really had) on the side of the road, no matter how much he annoyed me. I simply cannot abandon this site. You fellow CBers (and Admins, although you often get on my nerves) are much too friendly for that. So I shall continue to bear the annoyances of the little brother in the analogy, however much it gets on my nerves. I have always enjoyed the company of the wonderful CBers, and will stay as long as I can. You are all (Bill and Ted lingo strikes again) most bodacious!

JDD, we appreciate your sharing your feelings. However, Chatterbox has rules and guidelines that must be upheld. The copyright issue is so complex that we have a whole department to handle it, and we're not allowed to post anything without specific permission from this department and any copyright holders. You just have to learn to live by the rules. You're not the first who has questioned this. We're glad you're staying.
