so, i love horses and this is a quote that is in this book that i found in this magazine "back in the saddle".  here it is: "Horse fever is far more common than the common cold.  it can start with youf first reading of Black Beauty or your first sighting of a mounted police officer in the heart of a city-and from there the affliction can run wonderfully rampant throughout your entire life"

-from My Very Own Horse

I don't read a whole lot of modern books on horses, mostly because they involve more the social cliques of girls, instead of focusing on the horses themselves. But I have read Black Beauty, which was a good book, and was, in my opinion, a really uniqe and well told story.

I do like reading stories though about horses in history. I mean, think about it. Horses were such a BIG part of everything before cars were invented. People rode in on them into war, they pulled covered wagons when the pioneers moved west, they were our mail system through the pony express, heck, they've even been Hollywood stars! Horses have played a huge role in the shaping of American history, though, are in my opinion, undercredited.
